Saturday, March 11, 2023-SW Michigan-More Snow On The Way

Saturday, March 11, 2023-SW Michigan-More Snow On The Way

Currently 28 with an average wind from the NW of 3 mph. Feels like 25. Feels like 25, Dew Point 27, Barometer 30.03, Humidity 89%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:01 am, Sunset 6:43 pm.

Partly sunny with a high in the upper 30s. NE winds around 5 mph becoming E in the eveing.

Partly cloudy with a 50% chance of overnight snow. Low in the mid 20s. E winds 10-15.

Unfortunately, snow isn’t finished with us just yet. Could get some tonight and off and on through Monday morning. Do we need any more snow? No. No, we don’t. But Mother Nature seems to have this warped sense of humor going that is presenting us with this  month -that could be nice- as a month that is showing little sign of leaning in that direction. Sooner or later, folks, warmth and sunshine will overtake the wintery variety. Seems like later is what’s happening… but eventually….

Friday, March10, 2023-SW Michigan-But March COULD Be Nice

Friday, March10, 2023-SW Michigan-But March COULD Be Nice

Currently 32 with an average wind from the ENE 8 mph. Feels like 23 degrees. Dew Point 30, Barometer 29.84, Humidity 100%, Visibility 2.6 mi., Sunrise 7:03 am, Sunset 6:42 pm.

100% chance of more snow. Probably less than 1″ additional. High in the mid 30s. NE winds 15-20 mph with gusts to around 30.

Partly cloudy overnight with a low around 20. N winds 5-15 mph.

So – every year I say the same thing. Have for decades…’March Could Be Nice’. This particular month of March, however, is refusing to cooperate. A bit more snow expected Saturday night through Monday. Nothing like this – I measured 5″ in my little backyard this morning – but some snow nonetheless. The birds and critters certainly seemed appreciative for this tough old gal getting out there with the snow shovel to clear a pathway and a nice size area to scatter food for them. I’m not so sure an 80-year-old back was meant to be tending to such chores. Alas…

Not only more snow, but the entire month of March is determined to remain below normal – so sadly no welcome warmth for us as yet. It’ll come around, just not this month. Evidently.

Thursday, March 9, 2023-SW Michigan-Here Comes Winter Storm Ricardo

Thursday, March 9, 2023-SW Michigan-Here Comes Winter Storm Ricardo

Currently 32 with an average wind from the ENE of 4 mph. Feels like 25 degrees. Dew Point 25, Barometer 30.3, Humidity 73%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:05 am, Sunset 6:41 pm.

Winter Weather Advisory in effect until Friday around 11:00 am.

Mostly cloudy today with a 20% chance of afternoon snow showers. High around 40. E winds 10-20 mph.

100% chance of overnight snow. 3-5″ of snow expected. Low in the upper 20s. E winds 15-20 mph with gusts to 35.

Not much going on for now but be ready for some snow tonight and tomorrow. Hard to tell, as usual, how much we’ll get but for now we seem to be right in the middle of what’s coming, so I’m thinking this time it won’t be missing us. Keep that snow shovel handy. Even more unwelcome news is the fact that our temperatures for the rest of March appear to be below normal, so this won’t be that wonderful warm month of March we’d like to see. Alas…

Wednesday, March 8, 2023-SW Michigan-Not The Best Weather News

Wednesday, March 8, 2023-SW Michigan-Not The Best Weather News

Currently 30 with an average wind from the NE of 8 mph. Feels like 23 degrees. Dew Point 17, Barometer 30.45, Humidity 53%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:07 am, Sunset 6:40 pm.

Mostly cloudy becoming mostly sunny today. High in the lower 40s. E winds 5-15 mph.

Mostly cloudy with a low in the mid 20s. E winds 5-15 mph.

Enjoy the sunshine today. Don’t bother to look for it tomorrow and certainly not Friday when it look like we could have another opportunity for a mess of snow. Also, it looks as if an upper level disturbance is determined to bring cold temperatures to our area for the entire month of March. Seems like it’s going to be about April before things warm up for us, back to a normal range. That’s tough to hear but there it is. Eventually we’re going to warm up. Just don’t put away those warm jackets just yet. Nor the snow shovel for that matter as you may jolly well need that this coming Friday.

Tuesday, March 7, 2023-SW Michigan-Welcome Sunshine

Tuesday, March 7, 2023-SW Michigan-Welcome Sunshine

Currently 32 with an average wind from the E of 7 mph. Feels like 25 degrees. Dew Point 24, Barometer 30.26, Humidity 75%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:08 am, Sunset 6:35 pm.

Sunny with a high in the lower 40s. NE winds 10-15 with gusts to 25.

Mostly clear with a low in the lower 20s. NE winds 5-10 mph.

Wonderful to see the sunshine. Won’t get super warm, but oh my…so much better than some of the days we’ve had. Maybe a bit of sun the rest of the week until we get to Friday and then expect some snow. Now we know it won’t last forever ’cause after all, this is March. Somehow it doesn’t bother me nearly as much hearing about coming snow when we get to March. Won’t be long – hopefully – that the word will be retired until next winter. The sooner the better.

Monday, March 6, 2023-SW Michigan-More Rain Than Snow

Monday, March 6, 2023-SW Michigan-More Rain Than Snow

Currently 34 with an average wind from the NE of 7 mph. Feels like 27 degrees. Dew Point 33, Barometer 29.93, Humidity 100%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 7:10 am, Sunset 6:37 pm

Cloudy with a 50% chance of rain. High in the lower 40s. E winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 30.

70% chance of rain possibly mixed with some snow in the evening. Low in the upper 20s. NE winds 5-15 mph with gusts to around 30.

Watched a beautiful snowfall in the middle of the night. Looked like ribbons or threads of snow falling straight down like a curtain. Every once in a while a breeze would wander through and the curtain would wave, then settle right back down to hanging straight. It was really cool to watch.  As a result, we have thin layer of snow on the ground this morning but I’m thinking if we get nothing but rain later today, much of the snow will dissolve. Looking at a week with a variety. Sunshine tomorrow, but mostly I think we’ll be seeing clouds – some snow maybe – just not our ideal spring-like week, but we’re on the way.

Sunday, March 5, 2023-SW Michigan-Enjoy Today’s Sunshine

Sunday, March 5, 2023-SW Michigan-Enjoy Today’s Sunshine

Currently 43 with an average wind from the WNW of 3 mph. Feels like 43 degrees. Dew Point 35, Barometer 30.16, Humidity 67%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:12 am, Sunset 6:36 pm.

Mostly sunny today with a high in the upper 40s. Light  winds.

90% chance of evening rain then possible mix of rain and snow. Snow accumulation 1″ or less. Low in the lower 30s. E winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20 mph increasing to 15-20 with gusts to 35.

Today is beautiful. Makes everybody think spring. Not so fast, grasshopper. Tonight and tomorrow, along comes that wicked winter pattern we’ve been stuck in far too long. Rain and snow mix. And, sorry to say it looks like a repeat along the end of the week. We all know that sooner or later this will change and nice weather will set in on a permanent basis. Just not quite yet, it would appear. Hang in there. After all it is March. And March could be nice. Eventually.

Saturday, March 4, 2023-SW Michigan-Dodged Yet Another Storm

Saturday, March 4, 2023-SW Michigan-Dodged Yet Another Storm

Currently 36 with an average wind from the SW of 3 mph. Feels like 34 degrees. Dew Point, 35, Barometer 29.81, Humidity 85%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:13 am, Sunset 6:35 pm.

Partly sunny with a high in the mid 40s. W winds 5-10 mph.

Mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of rain in the evening. Low in the lower 30s. SW winds around 5 mph becoming W overnight.

Okay. So yet another winter storm managed to slide off to the south of us. This time we lucked out and didn’t end up with ice as a result. Got barely a couple inches of snow and that was the end of that story. Not so lucky to the south of us. Again.

The coming week looks good so far with no snow in sight until the end of the week. And who knows by the time that gets around to us. In the meantime, merely mild early March weather. Fine with me.

Friday, March 3, 2023-SW Michigan-Winter Storm Quest On The Way

Friday, March 3, 2023-SW Michigan-Winter Storm Quest On The Way

Currently 32 with an average wind from the NE of 8 mph. Feels like 25 degrees. Dew Point 30, Barometer 29.7, Humidity 100%, Visibility 8 mi., Sunrise 7:15 am, Sunset 6:33 pm.

70% chance of afternoon snow. Snowfall could be heavy at times. 2-3″ possible. High in the upper 30s. E winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 30.

100% chance of overnight snow. 1-4″ possible. Snowfall could be heavy at times. Low in the upper 20s. n winds 10-15 mph becoming NW 5-15 mph with gusts to 35.

Nothing going on in our area right now, but be assured, things will change later today. To the south of us, lots of snow. Here, not so much predicted but we know how that can change. It does look as if, once again, the brunt of the storm is going to miss us. That has been pretty much the story all winter long – for which most of us are grateful. We’re still going to get wind and snow, and the roads aren’t going to be pleasant to drive on, so be careful. This is a fast-moving storm, so by tomorrow it will have moved on and we’ll have to wake up and see what portion of Quest we were graced with. Hopefully, not all that much. It is likely to be a wet, heavy snow, so be very careful if you have to do any shoveling.

Thursday, March 2, 2023-SW Michigan-Calm Before Winter Storm

Thursday, March 2, 2023-SW Michigan-Calm Before Winter Storm

Currently 34 with an average wind from the WNW of 8 mph. Feels like 27 degrees. Dew Point 31, Barometer 29.8, Humidity 100%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:17 am, Sunset 6:32 pm.

Cloudy with a high in the upper 30s. NW winds 5-10 mph with gusts to around 20 until about midday becoming light.

Mostly cloudy with a low in the upper 20s. E winds 10 with gusts to 20 overnight.

Today’s a mild one but watch out for tomorrow and tomorrow night. Winter Storm Quest will be paying us a visit. I’d sure much rather see a bunch of snow than the wicked freezing rain and sleet we’ve been dealing with. If this one hits us square, we could get that snow. Just know something is coming at us tomorrow, be watchful and be prepared. For now, a day with no precipitation is March being kind to us. So far.

A welcome sign of an early spring, they have already tapped a few of the trees back behind my place. I’m loving every single sign that shows up :>)
