Tuesday, March 21, 2023-SW Michigan-Should Be A Pleasant Day

Tuesday, March 21, 2023-SW Michigan-Should Be A Pleasant Day

Currently 37 with an average wind from the SSE of 3 mph. Feels like 32 degrees. Dew Point 26, Barometer 30.1, Humidity 56%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:44 am, Sunset 7:55 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a high in the lower 50s. S winds 5-10 mph.

Partly cloudy becoming mostly cloudy with a 30% chance of overnight rain. Low in the upper 30s. S winds 5-10 mph with gusts to around 20.

Plenty of days in the next couple of weeks with the word rain involved in the forecast. And least we feel neglected, the word snow shows up on occasion, too. That one refuses to toss in the towel and give up. I think the entire rest of this month is just going to keep on being as un-springlike as possible. Might as well just expect it, get on with things, and hope for better in April. I know I am. A lot better in April. This month is not going to ruin my hopeful feelings for the month of March. Next year will be the same ‘March could be nice’ declaration…but admittedly, this year has failed miserably to live up to that claim. Alas…some months are simply contrary to our expectations.

Monday, March 20, 2023-SW Michigan-Sunny First Official Day Of Spring

Monday, March 20, 2023-SW Michigan-Sunny First Official Day Of Spring

Currently 32 with an average wind from the S of 6 mph. Feels like 25 degrees. Dew Point 24, Barometer 29.99, Humidity 72%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:46 am, Sunset 7:54 pm.

Mostly sunny today with a high in the mid 40s. S winds 15-20 mph with gusts to 25.

Mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of rain/snow showers in the evening. Low in the lower 30s. SW winds 5-15 mph.

So according to the calendar it’s now spring – even though all of us know perfectly well that spring is supposed to be March, April and May. Those are the 3 spring months.  Mother Nature doesn’t seem to be interested in either scenario. This won’t be a stellar spring week. Might see at least one day hit the 50-degree mark, maybe not. Looks like most of them will hover in the 40s.  Look for some rain along the way. At any rate, sooner or later the warmth will arrive, and we will be able to think and feel real spring. Getting closer.

Sunday, March 19, 2023-SW Michigan-A Better Week Of Weather Ahead

Sunday, March 19, 2023-SW Michigan-A Better Week Of Weather Ahead

Currently 28 with an average wind from the SW of 6 mph. Feels like 19 degrees. Dew Point 19, Barometer 30.06, Humidity 69%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:47 am, Sunset 7:53 pm.

Sunny with a high in the mid 30s. W winds 15-20 mph with gusts to around 30.

Clear with an overnight low in the upper 20s. SW winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 30.

Yesterday was wild weather. Never have I ever seen such a variety on a snowy day. One minute an absolute white out, the next clear and sunny, then light snow showers falling straight down, another clearing, then swirling snow blowing in all directions….you name it, we had it. A very, very strange day. Next week promises to be so much better. Temperatures in the 40s and 50s. I see some rain, but now snow in the forecast. Could our corner be turned? We can only hope so. In the meantime, although it’s chilly, enjoy today’s sunshine. It’s beautiful.

Saturday, March 18, 2023-SW Michigan-It Will Warm Up Next Week

Saturday, March 18, 2023-SW Michigan-It Will Warm Up Next Week

Currently 18 with an average wind from the SW of 6 mph. Feels like 3 degrees. Dew Point 15, Barometer 29.71, Humidity 100%, Visibility 1.3 mi., Sunrise 7:49 am, Sunset 7:52 pm.

Winter Weather Advisory in effect until Sunday 2:00 am.

90% chance of snow showers. 1-3″ possible. High in the mid 20s. NW winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 30.

70% chance of snow showers. 1-2″ possible.  Low in the lower 20s. NW winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 30.

It’s March 18 and you’d think there would be no way it would feel like 3 degrees out there – but you’d be wrong. it definitely does feel that chilly. Out shoveling snow – yet again – and that wind is darn cold. This has to come to an end eventually. Not quite yet. The word snow is showing up for Monday, but after that, hopefully not anymore. Some 50-degree days will make us feel better about it all, but I have to say this is one of the worst months of March ever. At this point we can only hope the month of April makes up for it.

Friday, March 17-2023-SW Michigan-Yet Another Winter Weather Advisory

Friday, March 17-2023-SW Michigan-Yet Another Winter Weather Advisory

Currently 35 with an average wind from the SSW of 6 mph. Feels like 25 degrees. Dew Point 32, Barometer 29.37, Humidity 100%, Visibility 1.6 mi., Sunrise 7:51 am, Sunset 7:50 pm.

Winter Weather Advisory in effect until Sunday 2:00 am.

Windy with a 40% chance of rain/snow. High in the upper 30s. W winds 15-25 mph with gusts to 40.

90% chance of snow showers. Low in 19. W winds 15-20 mph with gusts to 35.

We’ve already seen our high for the day and it’s, unfortunately, all downhill from here. Going to get downright chilly again. The rain this morning is light but seems to be trying hard to transition over to snow already. Seeing some snowflakes here and there. This will be Lake Effect snow for us and we know how that can go. Could be light, could be a surprise. The forecast is for 2-4″ but that won’t be everywhere. We’ll all get a share of lake effect snow, but we’ll have to wait until Sunday morning to see what that amounted to. Any is too much at this stage of the game, but here it comes again anyway. Take heart, things will get better starting on Sunday. Hang in there.

Thursday, March 16, 2023-SW Michigan-Morning Sun, Afternoon Rain

Thursday, March 16, 2023-SW Michigan-Morning Sun, Afternoon Rain

Currently 39 with an average wind from the SSE wind of 3 mph.  Feels like 34 degrees. Dew Point 25, Barometer 29.79, Humidity 54%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:53 am, Sunset 7:49 pm.

A partly sunny morning will become a 100% chance of afternoon rain. High in the upper 40s. S winds 10-15 mph with gusts to around 25.

100% chance of overnight rain. Low in the lower 30s. SW winds 10-15 mph with gusts to around 30.

Yesterday was beautiful with all that sunshine. This morning we may see some sun along with clouds moving in that will bring us rain later on. Unfortunately, on Friday this rain could mix with a bit of freezing rain and before it transitions into snow. We could end up with a couple of inches by the end of Saturday, but it won’t last that long.  Next week we’ll be happily looking at some 50-degree days. Let’s hope this will be the end of the snow. No guarantees, but lots of hopes.

Wednesday, March 15, 2023-SW Michigan-Sunshine Today With No Precipitation

Wednesday, March 15, 2023-SW Michigan-Sunshine Today With No Precipitation

Currently 21 with an average wind from the SSE of 3 mph. Feels like 14 degrees. Dew Point 25, Barometer 30.17, Humidity 92%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:54 am, Sunset 7:48 pm.

Mostly sunny with a high in the lower 40s. SW winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 25.

Mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of rain. Low in the mid 30s. S winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 25.

Darn cold last night, but with any luck that’s the end of it. Looks that way-sort of. Looking ahead, by this time next week we could be seeing 50-degree days and maybe, just maybe, no more snow. Well, hopefully not after this weekend, anyway. Tonight’s chance for rain turns into rain tomorrow with snow Friday/Saturday. Still – there does seem to be light at the end of this snowy tunnel. All we can do is hope for the best. And the best would most definitely be more spring-like weather setting in.

Tuesday, March 14, 2023-SW Michigan-Some Welcome Sunshine

Tuesday, March 14, 2023-SW Michigan-Some Welcome Sunshine

Currently 23 with an average wind from the WNW of 5 mph. Feels like 16 degrees. Dew Point 19, Barometer 30.13, Humidity 84%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:56 am, Sunset 7:47 pm.

Sunny. High in the mid 30s. N W winds 5-15 mph.

Mostly clear with an overnight temperature of 15-20 degrees. NW winds 5-10 mph in the evening becoming light.

So – no warmth attached, but at least we’re granted some sunshine. Good enough, I guess. It would be lovely to have it warm up enough to get rid of the left-over snow, but no-o-o-o-o.  And as is the custom these days, it appears as if we can look forward to some more snow Friday night and Saturday. Swell, huh? This winter refuses to leave. I just know there is a spring out there somewhere, fairly chomping at the bit for a chance to move in and take out a long lease. Trouble is, the longer this miserable winter lingers, the shorter the time we’ll have spring to enjoy. It will turn out to be one of those years when green will start to sprout and Viola! we’ll be suddenly taken over by summer.

Monday, March 13, 2023-SW Michigan-Not Much To Like About Week’s Weather

Monday, March 13, 2023-SW Michigan-Not Much To Like About Week’s Weather

Currently 28 with an average wind from the NNE of 4 mph. Feels like 21 degrees. Dew Point 26, Barometer 29.82, Humidity 100%, Visibility 0.58 mi., Sunrise 7:58 am, Sunset 7:46 pm

Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 1:00 pm.

90% chance of snow. 1-3″ possible. High in the lower 30s. NE winds 5-10 mph becoming N 10-15.

Mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of overnight snow showers. Low in the lower 20s. NW winds 10-15 mph.

Nothing encouraging about the weather this week. And This Too Shall Pass might be a good thing to keep in mind. Eventually, this late winter weather is going to be gone. Just don’t be looking for a departure any time this week.  For now, Winter Storm Sage is here, like it or not. The only positive thing for us is we’re not on the east coast. Looks very much like a proper Nor’easter is going to be hitting there. They are looking at potential feet of snow. So…the only good thing is we’re dealing with inches – they could be forced to handle feet – of this cold miserable stuff.

Personally, there was another 3 1/2″ of it for me to have to shovel and clear away for critter feeding this morning. I can honestly say I am fed up to here with it all. Our temperatures are going to stay in the cold range some below freezing nights temps, at least through this week. Things could be so much worse. We’re not dealing with avalanches, flooding, blizzards…just chilly, inconvenient and non-cooperative for those of us trying hard to thing Spring weather. But, not all that bad in comparison to what some others have to contend with. Good enough, I guess.

Sunday, March 12, 2023-SW Michigan-Chilly Wind Today

Sunday, March 12, 2023-SW Michigan-Chilly Wind Today

Currently 30 with an average wind from the E of 10 mph. Feels like 23 degrees. Dew Point 23, Barometer 29.54, Humidity 79%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 8:00 am, Sunset 7:44 pm.

Cloudy with a 40% chance of light morning snow showers. High in the mid 30s. E winds 5-10 mph.

90% chance of overnight snow showers. Low in the upper 20s. E winds 5-10 mph.

That wind is making it seem much colder than March should be feeling today. And we aren’t finished with the snow, either. Tonight, tomorrow – then again, perhaps, around next Friday. The calendar might be telling us this is March but Mother Nature is tinkering around with dragging February on and on. Keep those jackets handy – and never mind putting the snow shovel away. Going to keep needing both of them for a while yet. Dang!
