Wednesday, March 31, 2021-SW Michigan-Couple Of Cold Days & Nights

Wednesday, March 31, 2021-SW Michigan-Couple Of Cold Days & Nights

Currently 37 with an average wind from the WSW of 7 mph. Feels like 30 degrees. Dew Point 24, Barometer 30.05, Humidity 58%, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:26 am, Sunset 8:07 pm.

Mostly sunny becoming partly sunny with a high only in the lower 40s. W winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 25.

Partly cloudy with a 20% chance of evening snow showers. Low in the lower 20s. NW winds 10-15 mph.

Well, it’s not feeling Spring-like out there this morning. It’s darn nippy and with the wind it feels even more so. Tomorrow, ushering in April, is promising to be a beastly little dab of misery, too. Should warm up promptly after that but in the meantime… You know what’s funny? I looked way, way ahead to the first of May and from here it looks like that month is going to take a dip in the temperatures and come in crummy, too. Of course, since we all know our weather can change from day to day, there’s no guarantee that will materialize, but it looks like an unhappy little pattern setting up for now. Hopefully that won’t happen. By the end of April, nobody wants to see chilly weather move in – even for a day or two. I don’t even want to see it now :>)

Tuesday, March 30, 2021-SW Michigan-April Will Come In Chilly

Tuesday, March 30, 2021-SW Michigan-April Will Come In Chilly

Currently 51 with an average wind from the SW of 10 mph. Feels like 51 degrees. Dew Point 33, Barometer 29.8, Humidity 49%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:28 am, Sunset 8:06 pm.

Mostly sunny until about midday becoming mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of rain showers. High in the mid 60s. SW winds 15-25 mph with gusts to 40.

70% chance of overnight rain showers. Low in the lower 30s. N W winds 5 -15 mph with gusts to 25.

Not a bad morning. A tad breezy but comfortable enough temperature-wise. Unfortunately, the next several days will not be quite so nice as the daytime temps are going to tumble a good 20+ degrees in the wrong direction. Never fear though because by Saturday things will be looking up and the temperatures will be doing a much better job of being Spring-like. Just need to keep your jacket handy in the meantime.

Monday, March 29, 2021-SW Michigan-A Few Chilly Days Before Warming Back Up

Monday, March 29, 2021-SW Michigan-A Few Chilly Days Before Warming Back Up

Currently 38 with an average wind from the SE of 4 mph. Feels like 38 degrees. Dew Point 27, Barometer 30.18, Humidity 66%, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:30 am, Sunset 8:05 pm.

Mostly sunny with a high in the mid 50s. S winds 5 -10 mph increasing to 15-20 in the afternoon.

Mostly clear overnight with a low in the mid 40s. S winds 15-20 mph.

The next couple of days and nights are going to be chilly but after that it will warm right up where it will feel comfortable outside – and only get better from there. So far the month of April for us here in the SW space in Michigan is looks great.

I know there aren’t many left but we do still have one now small left over of a snow mountain from where it was shoveled into one spot-a place where the sun never shines on it and we haven’t really had enough rain to take it all away. It’s dwindling, dirty and miserable looking and once the weather gets back into the warmer range it won’t take long for it to completely vanish. Looking forward to it. I don’t want to see even a smidgen of winter left.

Sunday, March 28, 2021-SW Michigan-Chilly And Damp This Morning

Sunday, March 28, 2021-SW Michigan-Chilly And Damp This Morning

Currently 37 with an average wind from the SW of 7 mph. Feels like 32 degrees. Dew Point 37, Barometer 29.64, Humidity 100%, Visibility 8 mi., Sunrise 7:31 am, Sunset 8:03 pm.

Mostly cloudy today with a 40% chance of rain showers possibly mixed in with some snow showers. High around 40. NW winds 15-25 mph with gusts to 35.

Mostly clear overnight with a low in the upper 20s. W winds 5 – 15 mph with gusts to 25 in the evening.

So…A meteorological roller coaster of temperatures courtesy of Mother Nature. To be expected this time of year, I guess. Up one day, down the next. We’ll be up tomorrow and Monday, but down again the next day. Never fear, it’ll all even out soon enough. I’m just grateful for a month of March to finally come around like well mannered month of March should – not just growling through like a peevish extension of winter. I’m trying for patience although I’m mighty anxious to see greenery blooming. Again…soon enough. In the meantime a jacket and patience. That’s all we need for today.

Saturday, March 27, 2021-SW Michigan-More Rain Possible Tonight

Saturday, March 27, 2021-SW Michigan-More Rain Possible Tonight

Currently 33 with an average wind from the E of 8 mph. Feels like 30 degrees. Dew Point 33, Barometer 30.09, Humidity 97%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 7:33 am, Sunset 8:02 pm.

80% chance of overnight rain showers and isolated thunderstorms. Low in the upper 30s. E wind 5 -15 mph becoming W with gusts to 25.

It does sound as if we might end up with a bit more rain, which will be fine and dandy. Tomorrow sounds windy with a very nice week ahead. April 1 should start out on the cool side, but rapidly warm up to a great steady 60 degrees. Won’t be long before we’ll be able to see some buds beginning in the trees and shrubs. Can’t wait for the greenery to begin.

Friday, March 26, 2021-SW Michigan-Terror To The South, Only Rain Here

Friday, March 26, 2021-SW Michigan-Terror To The South, Only Rain Here

Currently 34 with an average wind from the WSW of 4 mph. Feels like 31 degrees. Dew Point 34, Barometer 29.94, Humidity 100%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:35 am, Sunset 8:01 pm.

Mostly cloudy with about 30% chance of rain until about midday then becoming mostly sunny. High in the upper 40s. W winds 5 – 15 mph with gusts to 25.

Partly cloudy with a low in the lower 30s. W winds around 10 mph in the evening becoming light.

Much cooler this morning and we did get about a half an inch of rain last night. But I didn’t hear any thunder, see any lightening. Just rain. To the south, however, it was yet another time of terror with tornado destruction everywhere. To think this is only the end of March, this is not a good indication of how much trouble the tornado season is going to bring this year. I hope I’m wrong, but things don’t look good right now. We are so fortunate here in SW Michigan. Do we get an occasional tornado? Yes, we do. But personally, I can’t remember much damage from tornadoes on any major scale in a very long time. My prayers are with all of those in the south dealing with the destruction.

I think the thing that I worry the most about is the almost complete lack of basements for the people in the south to seek safety. Why? I guess I understand that in a state like Florida which is basically built on a swamp and the ground is technically saturated making basements rather iffy. But along Tornado Alley??? Really? I’m pretty sure if I lived there I would long ago had some sort of storm shelter built I could drop in to and escape being blown away by a tornado. Seeking safety in a bathtub might or might not work, but it certainly isn’t optimal. So why not invest a bit in a small underground shelter? I don’t know. I don’t understand it, but then I’m a do it ahead sort of person and I would plan on future emergencies if it meant my life or the life of my loved ones. Hey…it’s just me.

Thursday, March 25, 2021-SW Michigan-Chill Down, Chance Of Rain

Thursday, March 25, 2021-SW Michigan-Chill Down, Chance Of Rain

Currently 44 with an average wind from the SSW of 3 mph. Feels like 44 degrees. Dew Point 40, Barometer 29.95, Humidity 86%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:37 am, Sunset 8:00 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of some rain. High in the mid 50s. W winds 10 mph becoming NE with gusts to 20.

100% chance of overnight rain. Some snow could mix in. Low in the mid 30s. NE winds 15-20 mph becoming N 15-25 with gusts to 35.

Well yesterday was ridiculous windy. I watched mighty big trees doing some serious bending and swaying. That wind seems to have blown the comfortable temperatures out of our picture from the time being. We are expecting more wind today/tonight. The rain we’ve been hoping to get hasn’t really happened lately but tonight we might get some. Of course then Mother Nature has to toss in the possibility of some snow mixing in. An ugly thought.

The south looks to be facing yet another day of strong storm/tornado possibilities. Weather system set-ups don’t look promising for that to vanish without damage. Hopeful everyone can stay safe.

Wednesday, March 24, 2021-SW Michigan-A Bit Of Fog And Rain

Wednesday, March 24, 2021-SW Michigan-A Bit Of Fog And Rain

Currently 54 with an average wind from the S of 14 mph. Feels like 54 degrees. Dew Point 53, Barometer 29.7, Humidity 98%, Visibility 8 mi., Sunrise 7:38 am, Sunset 7:59 pm.

70% chance of rain showers today. High in the upper 60s. SW winds 10-20 with gusts to 25 increasing to 35 in the afternoon.

20% chance of overnight rain. Low in the lower 40s. SW winds 15-20 mph.

When I checked the thermometer yesterday in my little backyard it said 73 degrees. Now that’s mighty nice for March. And we did get a bit of rain last night, hopefully we’ll get more today. We might end up with some chilly nights yet, maybe slipping low enough to freeze the water in the birdbath, but they won’t be dreadful cold nor will the last. It seriously looks as if March is coming in like a lamb and going right on out like a lamb. Wonderful!

Tuesday, March 23, 2021-SW Michigan-Warm And Hopefully Rainy

Tuesday, March 23, 2021-SW Michigan-Warm And Hopefully Rainy

Currently 55 with an average wind from the E of 1 mph. Feels like 55 degrees. Dew Point 40, Barometer 30.02, Humidity 58%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:40 am, Sunset 7:58 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a high in the lower 70s. SE winds 5 – 15 mph.

70% chance of overnight rain. Low in the mid 50s. SE winds 10-15 pm.

Looks a lot like rain this morning. Not officially listed until tonight, but maybe we’ll get some precipitation today. At least tonight. We sure do need it. There’s a nice chance over the next three or four days. Surely this patch won’t completely elude us like so many weather systems have on a regular basis. I’m going to keep my umbrella handy with high hopes of needing it. It does seem as if, with two systems set to move through, one or the other – or both – will be dropping rain on us. What we don’t need or want would be any snow showers trying to mix in. Let’s hope for just some good soaking rains to freshen up the scene.

Monday, March 22, 2021-SW Michigan-A Glorious Day Ahead

Monday, March 22, 2021-SW Michigan-A Glorious Day Ahead

Currently 55 with an average wind from the SSE of 4 mph. Feels like 55 degrees. Dew Point 27, Barometer 30.13, Humidity 34%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:42 am, Sunset 7:56 pm.

Mostly sunny with a high in the upper 60s. SW winds 10-20 mph.

Partly cloudy with a low in the mid 40s. Light winds becoming SE 5 – 10 mph.

Just a marvelous morning. Brilliant blue above with a bit of a breeze. Never know for sure how it will go, but today seems to be followed by the possibility of 4 days each with a 50% chance of rain. If any of that comes around, it will be perfect. Love the sunshine, need the rain.

A sure and welcome sign of Spring is the frogs are out. That is one of the most wonderful songs nature has to sing for us each Spring. Absolutely love it.
