Monday, May 11, 2020-SW Michigan-Another Freeze Warning For Us

There is simply nothing good about our weather right now. Too cold, not enough sun…it’s as if Mother Nature sat back and thought, ‘Well, what can I do to make their dreary little lives less fun right now?’ And what do you know, she managed to come up with something. More freeze warnings. Great. What didn’t get damaged the other night now has a good chance of being messed up. I’ll tell you, if it ever warms up to oh…maybe 78, a nice sunny day, tiny warm breeze blowing…I’m going to sit out in my tiny yard and soak it up from dawn to dusk. But right now I’m not holding my breath for that to happen.

Not a pleasant day and with this insane lock down situation all over the country, going to be a very different Mother’s Day for most. In a few days we could be zooming way up into the 60 degree range. Fingers crossed we stay there with no more Arctic air spilling down to us. We’ll see. Just would like some warmth and sunshine. And soon.

Saturday, May 9,2020-SW Michigan-Cold Arctic Air Passing Through

Currently 38 with an average wind from the W of 14 mph. Feels like 29 degrees. Dew Point 23, Barometer 30.14 & falling, Humidity 55%, Visibility 10mi, Sunrise 6:24 am, Sunset 8:52 pm.

Nothing like a blast of Arctic air in May. The ice in the bird bath was frozen solid this morning and the furnace came on more than a few times last night to keep it comfortable in here. This is NOT the sort of May weather we expect. Or want. Going to warm up now, but gradually and not nearly as much as we’d like. This will go down as one of our chillier months of May. Unfortunately.

Generally clear overnight. Low 24. NW winds 10-20 mph decreasing to 5-10 mph.

This pretty much is not good news. Tender little buds and all that. Birds just getting up here from the warm south. People good and sick of cold weather. Nothing about this forecast is pleasant or easy to accept. And that’s all I’ve got to say about that.

Thursday, May 7, 2020-SW Michigan-Mostly Sunny Days, Very Chilly Nights

Thursday, May 7, 2020-SW Michigan-Mostly Sunny Days, Very Chilly Nights

Currently 57 with an average wind from the WNW of 14 mph. Feels like 53 degrees. Dew Point 32, Barometer 29.89 & rising, Humidity 35%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:26 am, Sunset 8:50 pm.

Sunny to partly cloudy. High 59. NW winds 15-25 with higher gusts possible.

Partly cloudy to cloudy overnight. Low 33. NNE winds 10 -15 mph.

Our days are going to stay fairly comfortable. Not overly warm, but okay. However our nights are still dipping down below the freezing mark, which isn’t good for those trying to get some flowers growing. I understand that our entire month of May will stay on the chilly side. I don’t know anyone who is happy about this, but it is what it is.

Wednesday, May 6, 2020-SW Michigan- Mostly Sunny Today

Wednesday, May 6, 2020-SW Michigan- Mostly Sunny Today

Currently 51 with an average wind from the NNW of 9 mph. Feels like 48 degrees. Dew Point 20, Barometer 30.07 & rising, Humidity 29%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:28 am, Sunset 8:19 pm.

Plenty of sunshine today. High 61. NNW winds 10 -15 mph.

Mostly clear overnight with a few passing clouds. Low near 40. W winds 10 -15 mph.

Daytime temperatures are a little on the cool side yet and the overnight temperatures are still downright chilly. Wishing it would warm up but since I have no control over this, I have to settle for at least no snow. That’s something positive right there.

Tuesday, May 5, 2020-SW Michigan-Clouds And Chilly Temperatures

Tuesday, May 5, 2020-SW Michigan-Clouds And Chilly Temperatures

Currently 43 with an average wind from the E of 14 mph. Feels like 36. Dew Point 25, Barometer 30.06, Humility 49%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:29 am, Sunset 8:18 pm.

Morning mix of sun and clouds. Afternoon cloudy. High 51. ENE winds 10 -20 mph.

Cloudy overnight. Low 34. NE winds 5 -10 mph.

Not scheduled to warm up much this week. In fact, one or two nights hold out the promise of dipping down below freezing. This sure isn’t good. Folks are looking for much better than this now that May is here. Most of the rain has been eliminated, but that can change any time. Wish it would warm up.

Monday, Mayu 4, 2020-SW Michigan-Not Warming Up Much In SW Michigan

Monday, Mayu 4, 2020-SW Michigan-Not Warming Up Much In SW Michigan

Currently 43 with an average wind from the N of 9 mph. Feels like 37 degrees. Dew Point 31, Barometer 30.16 & rising, Humidity 64%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:30 am, Sunset 8:47 pm.

Partly cloudy with a high of 59. NNE winds 5 – 10 mph.

Cloudy overnight with a low of 37. ENE winds 5 – 10 mph.

Well, this is the month of May and I would expect and hope for warmer temperatures than we’re looking at. Not going to happen this time around and while I’m looking at the record heat to the south of us, I’m feeling mighty left out here in SW Michigan. All I want is about 20 degrees warmer every day than we’re looking at. Not a lot…if we take 20 away from those record highs to the south and share them, we’d all be happier. Again, not going to happen. But would be grand if it could.

Sunday, May 3, 2020-SW Michigan-A Lovely Sunny Sunday

Sunday, May 3, 2020-SW Michigan-A Lovely Sunny Sunday

Currently 59 with an average wind from the N of 5 mph. Feels like 59 degrees. Dew Point 39, Barometer 29.89 & rising, Humidity 46%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:31 am, Sunset 8:16 pm.

Sunny with a few passing afternoon clouds. High 65. WNW winds 15 -25 mph.

A few overnight clouds. Low 36. NNW winds 10 -20 mph.

It’s a wonderful morning. Here in Michigan the trees are finally beginning to bud out and green up a bit. Nothing like the south where everything seems to be flourishing already, but we’re getting there. No Hummingbirds in my little backyard yet, but the are in Michigan and I’ve got the feeder out ready for any hungry traveler. Going to be a nice week ahead. A couple of days of rain, but that’s okay, it’s expected. Nothing severe or harsh though and that’s appreciated.

Saturday, May 2, 2020-SW Michigan- A More Or Less Sunny Weekend

Saturday, May 2, 2020-SW Michigan- A More Or Less Sunny Weekend

Currently 66 with an average wind from the SSW of 15 mph. Feels like 66 degrees. Dew Point 47, Barometer 29.82 & falling, Humidity 50%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:33 am, Sunset 8:44 pm.

More clouds and sun – maybe – with a slight chance of a rain shower showing up. High 69. WSW winds 10 -20 mph,

Partly cloudy overnight with a low near 45. W winds 10 -15 mph.

So far this morning about half and half with the clouds and clear skies. Perfectly acceptable. It’s not raining – or snowing. And it’s warming up. Getting better every day.
