Beastly cold still. The snow I track in from going out to feed the critters early morning that gets trapped by the back door never even thaws out from day to day now. It’s unbearable cold outside with wind chills in the -20 range. Yesterday the temperature never got above 0. We’ve all been asked by one of the utility companies to turn our thermostats down to 65 or lower through Friday. This is a cold spell nobody is going to soon forget. Much like we still talk about the blizzard of ’78, we’ll be remembering the Polar Vortex of ’19 for many years to come. Add the 15″ of snow we now have as ground cover and you can see, it’s been a miserable stretch of weather.
The picture is from my son, Bill, who took this early this morning of a rainbow attempting to form in the frigid air. Never saw anything that strange. It’s beautiful.
