Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017 South West Michigan – Another Possibility For Rain

Currently 69 with a SE wind of 6 mph ignoring it, so it feels like 69. Dew Point 66, Humidity 90%, Barometer 29.96, Visibility 7 mi, Sunrise 7:27 am, Sunset 7:42 pm. After a cloudy morning and some early fog, we should move on into a sunny afternoon. High 86. S winds 5 – 10 mph.

Partly cloudy with a 40% chance of late night showers and t-storms. Low 67. S wind 5 – 10 mph.

No matter how small or great our percentage for rain lately, we’ve received none. So fingers are crossed that tonight and tomorrow might bring us at least a drop or two of moisture. We need it.

Although my Hummingbird population seems to be thinning already – isn’t this sort of early for that – my Mourning Doves remain constant.  I enjoy watching my favorite bird, the Mourning Dove, in my tiny backyard. There never is just one. They are out here in pairs, two pair to be exact. They must live in a Dove commune or be part of a Dove harem. They are such skittish creatures. A leaf dropping behind one can cause it to hop and skip away with that alarmed twitter. I’ve been putting the food they eat out there for going on three years, they count on me to have their meal strewn about in that one special spot,  but if I opened the door and went outside while they were grazing, they’d be off in a flurry of feather in a heartbeat. Alas…but my favorite bird song with their cooing song. So I ignore the fact that to them  I am a scary beast and keep on setting the table for their pleasure.

Just wish it wasn’t heading toward time for all of the Hummingbirds to vanish again until next spring.
