An unquenchable thirst for knowledge about the weather, an observer of world-wide weather events, and an addicted fan of the Weather Channel on TV. Some occurrences from our not too distant past have left me horrified to this day- such as the possibly avoidable tragedy of the damage and death trailing behind Katrina, where human error combined with Mother Nature for sheer terror, the unspeakable destructive Tsunamis in Japan and Thailand, scenes and sounds of which I can hardly bear to see or hear. But I do see and hear it all because I am enthralled, fascinated, by weather driven happenings every bit as much as I am captivated by the clouds in our ever-changing sky. No impressive credentials, no list of meaningful letters trailing after my name, this is merely me, just another weather junky having my say about it all.

Plenty of overnight wind, blew away the warm temperatures we enjoyed yesterday. It’s back to a more fall-like feel today. Should be a pretty, crisp afternoon. And I guess we’ll best all be out there enjoying it ’cause it appears we have rain in our forecast for the next 6 days running. Swell…

Much warmer and more humid today all of which will be pushed past us with the rain coming in. Our temperatures the rest of the week won’t be anywhere near today’s hot, humid condition.

Keeping a close eye on the Hummingbirds right about now. It won’t be long before they begin their long, arduous journey south and I always feel anxious and worry about the little things on their miles and miles of flight. They’re so tiny and the way is so long. So far, they’re still with me, but any day now…

Warmer today than it was yesterday and I hear we could hit 80 – or close to it – on Wednesday. Not quite that warm the rest of the week, but not as chilly as it’s been of late. 50s, 60s, an occasional 70 ? We’ll take it. Did get .87″ of rain in the gauge overnight. The beginning of the cold Autumn rains – lots more to come before it turns into snow.

Very cool rain this morning. Measured 1.20″ of rain in the gauge this morning. Yesterday was chilly and dismal, today promises to be a twin. Oh, great. And the thing is, a couple of rainy days in the spring don’t bring any of this dread, these gloomy feelings. Even the temperature. If it got up to 55 or 53 we’d be thrilled. But it isn’t spring, just the opposite and we know this set of 55 or 53 is going to make up feel chilled. To the bone when you throw in a cold rain. Not fun weather, let’s put it that way. And looking ahead, there are an awful lot of the days in the coming week that hold out the possibility of some rain. Alas…

Brrr….it’s a chilly fall rain out there this morning. A portent of things to come – and none of it good. Won’t be long before that will be sleet, hail, snow…all the ugly things that winter brings our way. I know. I know. We’ve got more 60 degree days coming, maybe even a 70 degree or two. But it’s coming. It’s on the way.

Feels decidedly fall-like this morning. And I’ve got my heat on during the night now. 40 anything is way to cold for me!  I can just see everyone with their rakes and leaf blowers at the ready. They’re going to be needed them before too long now.

We’ve gone from unseasonable heat to now unseasonable cold. Tonight is going to be nudging down pretty close to the freezing mark. Not good. Much too soon for this nonsense. Looks as if we might see a bit of sun tomorrow but after that not for days … matter of fact that could go on until about next Thursday. Yikes! Too many rainy days heading our way.

Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018 South West Michigan – Chilly Peeks At The Sun

Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018 South West Michigan – Chilly Peeks At The Sun

Partly cloudy becoming cloudy overnight. Low 51. SSW winds 5 -10 mph.

The sunshine makes it seem warmer outside than it is but at least it’s pretty and makes you feel positive. It won’t be long before missing the sunshine will be what we experience most days. Those are the days you plan to keep super busy on – find ways to muddle through the dark months of winter, waiting for spring and the return of some clear skies. Blue skies. Alas…it’s on the way.

Light jacket in the morning weather. We did get .35″ of rain from the Cold Front that went by yesterday. It was an off and on rain, nothing steady or serious. At least in my area. There likely were some strong storms around the state, but me, in my little donut hole of nothing serious weather-wise, at least so far, missed it all. And happily.
