Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019-South West Michigan-Night Temps Dip Into The 40s

Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019-South West Michigan-Night Temps Dip Into The 40s

Currently 56 with an average wind from the E of 6 mph. Feels like 55. Dew Point 49, Humidity 77%, Barometer 30.33 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:05 am, Sunset 8:18 pm. Sunny to partly cloudy. High 74. E winds 5 – 10 mph.

Cloudy with a chance of rain showers. Low 56. E winds 5 – 10 mph.

I don’t know, seems to early for me, but it was only 48 degrees this morning. That’s too darn chilly for me. Oh well, things change.

Speaking of change, seems like Hurricane Dorian is sort of a big question mark. It’s meandering around, taking one path one day, another path another day…right now, there’s no saying it won’t take a turn and totally miss a direct hit on the states all together. Which would be nice for all who live along the coast. And not that even at that they won’t get the side effects. But for now – right this minute – looks as if the majority of Florida might be spared what it was originally told to expect. Again…things change. Just bears watching for everyone in the area, and of course, the rest of us are fascinated by it all. It’s the Autumn weather entertainment, hurricane watching – from everywhere not affected by it, that is. Worry for those who are, but can’t help being enthralled by the sheer drama of it all.

Friday, Aug. 30, 2019-South West Michigan-T-Storms Blew By Last Night

Friday, Aug. 30, 2019-South West Michigan-T-Storms Blew By Last Night

Currently 58 with an average wind from the WSW of 4 mph. Feels like 58. Dew Point 55, Barometer 30.06 & rising,  Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:04 am, Sunset 8:22 pm. Mostly sunny today with a high of 74. WNW winds 10 -15 mph.

Mostly clear overnight, low 49. N winds 5 – 10 mph.

Last night we did have a string of thunderstorms roll over our area. Had several Dangerous Thunderstorm Alerts issued. Nothing really severe happened in my little backyard area. Got some rain, some wind but nothing very unusual. I’m sure other areas didn’t fare as well. No power loss that I’ve heard of so I’m assuming things didn’t get as bad as they could have.

At least we aren’t facing the prospect of a hurricane like Florida right now. Has to be a nervous time. Where will it hit? How strong? Slow moving or racing through? Flooding issues, with Florida already having had too much rain, are going to be a major concern. I’m feeling bad and praying for all of those in that state right now. Hoping they’re preparing for the worst but that doesn’t come about. A wait and see situation for all.

Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019-South West Michigan-Surprise T-Storms Now Forecast

Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019-South West Michigan-Surprise T-Storms Now Forecast

Currently 62 with an average wind from the SSW of 7 mph. Feels like 61 degrees. Dew Point 56, Humidity 84%, Barometer 29.94 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:02 am, Sunset 8:22 pm. Sunny morning becoming a cloudy afternoon with a 50% chance of thunderstorms and gusty winds. High around 80. SW winds 20 -30 with higher gusts possible.

60% chance of thunderstorms along with gusty wind until around midnight, after that skies should clear. Low around 55. W winds 15 – 25 decreasing to 5 – 10mph.

Well, the forecast has now decided to include some windy thunderstorms for the afternoon and evening. I still see no sign of anything even remotely like that so far on the national weather map. But who knows? Those t-storms can be sneaky things. I guess we’ll find out if any manage to weasel their way into our system or not.

Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019-South West Michigan-Summer Cooling Down Fast

Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019-South West Michigan-Summer Cooling Down Fast

Currently 64 with a WSW wind of 15 mph. Feels like 62. Dew Point 55, Humidity 73%, Barometer 29.84 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:01 am, Sunset 8:23 pm. Mix of sun and clouds. High 71. W winds 15 – 25 with higher gusts possible.

Partly cloudy. Low 54. W winds 10 -20 mph.

The chill is on. Day and night. No longer feels like August to me. I’m thinking it’s September already, no matter what the calendar says. At least we don’t have to be on the lookout for hurricanes ripping through. Just falling leaves and temperatures. However, in a couple of months the bottom will really fall out here and the Old Farmer’s Almanac is not being nice to us this year. If what they foresee comes about, not going to have a good time this winter. Not 100% certain it will, but like hurricane season along the coast, a Northeast winter is something to watch and prepare for.

Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2019-South West Michigan-Clouds And Blue Mix

Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2019-South West Michigan-Clouds And Blue Mix

Currently 67 with an average wind of WSW winds of 8 mph. Feels like 67 degrees. Dew Point 66, Humidity 96%, Barometer 29.74 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:00 am, Sunset 8:25 pm.  Partly cloudy with a high of 77 degrees. WSW winds 10 -10 mph.

Partly cloudy with a slight chance of rain. Low 58. WSW winds 10 -15 mph.

The rain previously forecast for today has been removed – vanished into where ever erroneous forecasts go – and for now there is nothing in store for our area but sun and clouds, no precipitation, for what looks to be the next week and a half. Good enough.

Did read the ‘winter forecast for this coming season and it scares the heck out of me. Bitter cold, too much snow. Sounds like a nightmare winter on the way and I can only hope that this long range forecast isn’t any more accurate than our latest short term forecast. If it turns out to be right, I’m planning on hibernation mode big time. Frankly, we had a lousy spring, a similar summer and to have a wicked winter take aim at us certainly seems like overkill.  Not a happy camper.

Monday, Aug. 26, 2019-South West Michigan-Expecting Afternoon Rain

Monday, Aug. 26, 2019-South West Michigan-Expecting Afternoon Rain

Currently 62 with an average wind from the E of 9 mph. Feels like 61 degrees. Dew Point 54, Humidity 76%, Barometer 29.97 & falling, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:59 am, Sunset 8:27 pm. Cloudy with a 70% chance of afternoon rain. High 73. SE winds 10 -20 mph.

90% chance of overnight rain. Low 65. SSE winds 10 -20 mph.

Sounds like a sure bet that some rain will come along today and tonight. Probably tomorrow, too. After that looks like clear sailing through the rest of the week. Seems like a good plan. Get the unfriendly weather out of the way early on. And as of now, unless things change-which we all know to be quite possible-the Labor Day Weekend here about appears to be one most accommodating for any outdoor plans being made. We shall see, but right now, looking good.

Sunday, Aug. 25, 2019-South West Michigan-Plenty Of Clouds, Cool Temps.

Sunday, Aug. 25, 2019-South West Michigan-Plenty Of Clouds, Cool Temps.

Currently 70 with an average wind from the ESE of 10 mph. Feels like 70 degrees. Dew Point 56, Humidity 61%, Barometer 30.19 & falling, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:58 am, Sunset 8:28pm. Mostly cloudy with a high around 77. ESE winds 10 -15 mph.

Mostly cloudy overnight. Low 59. ESE winds 10 -15 mph.

Coolness is in the air, clouds are in the sky. It’s been a delightful weekend for outdoor activity. Bikers and hikers are thrilled with this sort of weather. And I see so many of them out there taking advantage of it while it’s here. Still the possibility of rain in the offing for Monday and Tuesday, but if you’re going to get a couple of rainy days, that’s when to insert them into the mix. A whole precipitation free weekend is much appreciated by one and all.

Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019-South West Michigan-Mornings Feel Like Fall Already

Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019-South West Michigan-Mornings Feel Like Fall Already

Currently 60, Average wind ENE 6 mph, Feels like 60. Dew Point 52, Humidity 76%, Barometer 30.32 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:57 am, sunset 8:30 pm. Sunshine today, high 75. E winds 5 -10 mph.

Clear. Low 52. E winds 5 -10 mph.

Maybe it’s the East wind…never a friend to anyone…but the feel of summer is slipping away and the mornings feel like September already. Way too soon. Those in the know are still predicting a hefty bunch of sunny days – except for Monday and Tuesday that continue to offer the chance of rain – but our temperatures are going to stay on the cool side, it would seem. Comfortable, but I just feel like summer was such a short season this time around. Not nice.

Friday, Aug. 23, 2019-Southwest Michigan-Another Brilliant Sunny Day

Friday, Aug. 23, 2019-Southwest Michigan-Another Brilliant Sunny Day

Currently 60 with an average wind from the NE of 5 mph. Feels like 61 degrees. Dew Point 51, Humidity 69%, Barometer 30.19 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:56 am, Sunset 8:30 pm. Nothing but sunshine today. High 73. NNE winds 5 – 10 mph.

Clear overnight skies. ENE winds 5 -10mph.

Temperature in the mid 50s this morning and the bedroom window wide open made it almost too chilly to think about hauling out of bed. Starting to feel practically fall-like already and I’m not ready for that. Of course, I’m not ready for it in September either, but especially not in August. It’s going to be a pretty day with a comfortable temperature. And the weekend sounds like about the same with the beginning of next week looking to be bringing in some rain. A goodly pattern. Will make folks mighty happy to have another couple of days like this to enjoy outdoor activities.

Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019-South West Michigan-Wonderful Weather Continues

Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019-South West Michigan-Wonderful Weather Continues

Currently 64 with an average wind from the NE of 7 mph. Feels like 67 degrees. Dew Point 48, Humidity 56%, Barometer 30.03 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:55 am, Sunset 8:33 pm. Sun and clouds mix for the day. High near 75. N wind 5 -10 mph.

Partly cloudy, low 51. NNE winds 5 -10 mph.

Still watching fireflies in the evening, but also seeing some dry leaves letting go of their fastenings and starting to litter the driveway. Not a whole lot of them, mind you, but enough to remind us that the summer is beginning to wrap up. Too soon, of course, but nothing we can do about it. Night temperatures are starting to be a tad cooler, too, but that makes for some wonderful sleeping weather with windows wide open to the coolness.
