Bidding farewell to what turned out to be a truly crummy month of March with some warm temperatures and plenty of rain. Welcoming in the month of April with even more rain – along with the opportunity for Winter Storm Uriel to provide a reminder of how tired we are of snow. The storm – and the snow – will very likely be in the northern tier of Michigan. But our temperatures tomorrow won’t achieve the numbers they will today. Changes continue but hopefully that will be the end of the winter storms to make their way across the country. Looking like our temperatures next week will fluctuate from the lower 40s perhaps up to 60. April isn’t starting out stellar. We can only hope things improve – rapidly. We’ve certainly waited long enough this year.

Thursday, March 30, 2023-SW Michigan-A Day With Plenty Of Sunshine

Thursday, March 30, 2023-SW Michigan-A Day With Plenty Of Sunshine

Currently 21 with an average wind from the SE of 2 mph. Feels like 14 degrees. Dew Point 17, Barometer 30.23, Humidity 70%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 7:28 am, Sunset 8:06 pm.

Sunny until about midday becoming partly sunny. High in the upper 40s. S winds 5-10 mph.

100% chance of rain with a chance of overnight thunderstorms. Low around 40. SE winds 10-20 mph with gusts to 30 becoming S 15-25 mph with gusts to around 40.

Plenty of opportunities for rain coming our way but at least the next week appears to also be presenting lots of changes for 50-degree days. A bit of a warmup is due and looks like we’re going to be in line for it. Going to be pretty exciting to have 50 degrees and rain rather than freezing temps and snow. And speaking of freezing temps and snow…it was a rather unfriendly 18 degrees with I got up this morning and that band of snow that swept past us  yesterday wasn’t exactly the end of March precipitation we’d expect. Didn’t last long, but it was a proper little snow none-the-less. Let’s cross our fingers that we’ve seen the last of it. Don’t bet any money on it but do hope a lot.

Wednesday, March 29, 2023-SW Michigan-Oh Joy, It’s Snowing Again

Wednesday, March 29, 2023-SW Michigan-Oh Joy, It’s Snowing Again

Currently 34 with an average wind from the WSW of 5 mph. Feels like 25 degrees. Dew Point 33, Barometer 29.97, Humidity 98%, Visibility 1 mi., Sunrise 7:30am, Sunset 8:45pm.

Mostly snowy morning should give was to afternoon sunshine. High in the upper 30s. NW winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 30.

Mostly clear overnight. Low in the lower 20s. NW winds around 10 mph becoming light.

There is a pretty solid band of snow moving through our area this morning that could conceivably leave us with an inch of snow. At any rate, accumulation or not, it’s snowing.  A sight we really, truly are not thrilled to see at the end of March. Sounds like a good chance for some rain by Friday and some of that could transition to a frozen mix on Saturday.  At any rate, plenty of off and on opportunity for rain on our way over the next week. Today, though, today we are in for more snow.

Tuesday, March 28,2023-SW Michigan-Some Welcome Sunshine

Tuesday, March 28,2023-SW Michigan-Some Welcome Sunshine

Currently 32 with an average wind from the NNW of 1 mph. Feels like 32 degrees. Dew Point 29, Barometer 30.13, Humidity 73%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:31 am, Sunset 8:03 pm.

Partly sunny becoming a sunny afternoon. High in the upper 40s. L winds becoming W 5-10 mph with gusts to 20.

Clear evening skies becoming partly cloudy with a 20% chance of overnight snow showers. Low in the upper 20s. L winds becoming SW 5-10 mph with gusts to 25.

I do wish I could say we’re finished with the snow and freezing mix now. That we’ve seen the end of it. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case. We are in for more snow and probably a bit of the frozen mix along the way. There is a current system sweeping in from the west that will wind up dumping what looks like some heavy snow to the north. We shouldn’t see any big accumulation from this but we will, with out a doubt, be getting in on some of it by the weekend. We simply need to hang in there. Eventually this is going to clear out and leave us with some lovely weather. Just not right away.

Monday, March 27, 2023-SW Michigan-Woke To Wet Snow – Again

Monday, March 27, 2023-SW Michigan-Woke To Wet Snow – Again

Currently 34 with an average wind from the E of 3 mph. Feels like 27 degrees. Dew Point is 34, Barometer 29.95, Humidity 96%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:33 am, Sunset 8:02 pm.

Mostly sunny with a high in the mid 40s. N winds 5-15 mph with guests to around 25.

Partly cloudy with a low in the upper 20s. NE winds around 5 mph in the evening becoming light.

Wondering how many times we can just shrug and say, “Yeah, but it won’t last long now. It’ll be gone by afternoon.” and not be sick and tired of having to see morning snow and frozen bird bath water. This is, after all, getting to the end of March. Shouldn’t things be changing up – just a tad – by now?  Looking at one weather reporting station, I see plenty of opportunity for rain during the next week. At another, part of that opportunity becomes a chance for more frozen mix stuff. Either way, we’ll see plenty of precipitation, but personally, I’d much rather see it all be rain. If we can’t have sunshine and warmth, at least Mother Nature could grant us some relief from any more frozen anything for the duration. I guess we’ll see how it goes but somewhere along the line we should start seeing some 50-degree days coming our way. Something tells me this Easter won’t be hiding the eggs in lovely green growing grass though.

Sunday, March 26, 2023-SW Michigan-Wonderful Morning Blue Skies

Sunday, March 26, 2023-SW Michigan-Wonderful Morning Blue Skies

Currently 34 with an average wind from the SSW of 2 mph. Feels like 30 degrees. Dew Point 34, Baromter 29.85, Humidity 95%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:35 am, Sunset 8:01 pm.

Mostly sunny morning becoming a cloudy afternoon with 40% chance of afternoon rain. High in the mid 40s. W winds 5-10 mph.

70% chance of overnight rain/snow/freezing rain…low in the upper 20s. NE winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 35.

I can see all the Robins that came in early deciding they won’t be so hasty next year. Even the birds and critters realize now that we aren’t getting a spring season. Looking ahead, I absolutely hate to say it but I keep seeing the word snow well into the beginning of the month of April. This is nuts. And that’s all I have to say about that.

Saturday, March 25, 2023-SW Michigan-NOT A Pleasant Spring Morning

Saturday, March 25, 2023-SW Michigan-NOT A Pleasant Spring Morning

Currently 34 with an average with a wind from the ENE of 4 mph. Feels like 23 degrees. Due Point 31, Barometer 29.24, Humidity 100%, Visibility 2.4 mi., Sunrise 7:37 am, Sunset 8:00 pm.

100% chance of rain possibly mixed with freezing rain and sleet until midday then rain showers possibly mixed with snow in the afternoon. Snow and sleet accumulation 1-3″. High in the mid 30s. NE winds 15-20 mph becoming W 15-25 in the afternoon.

Partly cloudy overnight. Low in the mid 20s. W winds 15-25 mph with gusts to 45 decreasing to 5-15 with gusts to 25.

And yet another Winter Storm. This is one named Taylor. Heavy rain this morning seems to be transitioning to light snow at the moment. It’s simply a mess out there, nothing pleasant about this day. And it won’t improve. Perhaps a peek at the sun tomorrow, but it doesn’t look like too many opportunities for that in the coming week. Alas…

The only good thing to say about our weather is we are so fortunate not to have received the disastrous weather that occurred last night in the south. Destruction and death…the pictures coming out from it all, now that daylight is showing what was left behind, are absolutely heartbreaking. My thoughts and prayers go out for all involved down there. Makes our weather today, that is only inconvenient, seem so meaningly when compared to the life and death situations left from the southern tornadoes.

Friday, March 24, 2023-SW Michigan-More Messy Weather On The Way

Friday, March 24, 2023-SW Michigan-More Messy Weather On The Way

Currently 32 with an average wind from the NE of 6 mph. Feels like 25 degrees. Dew Point 21, Barometer 29.98, Humidity 65%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:38 am, Sunset 7:59 pm.

Mostly cloudy today. High in the upper 40s. E winds 10-15 mph.

Windy. 100% chance of rain possibly mixed with snow and/or freezing rain. Low in the lower 30s. E winds 15-20 mph with gusts th 30 increasing to 20-30 mph with gusts to 45.

Well, today will be rather seasonal. But tonight we’ll be slipping back into a season that should have bid us a fond farewell and vanished by now. Look for a messy night tonight and even messier time tomorrow. In fact, tomorrow we could end up with an inch or so of snow. Say it isn’t so!!!  But alas…it is indeed so. March is going to prove to be a contrary month from beginning to end. I guess simply enjoy what we can appreciate out of it and hope for the end to eventually arrive is the secret to survival. Today won’t be bad but don’t be looking for any brilliant sunshiny day. That won’t happen. Would be nice if a peek or two of blue skies should come our way. We’ll see how it goes. Just be ready for tonight and tomorrow.

Thursday, March 23, 2023-SW Michigan-Some Occasional Morning Rain

Thursday, March 23, 2023-SW Michigan-Some Occasional Morning Rain

Currently 39 with an average wind from the WSW of 4 mph. Feels like 34 degrees. Dew Point 37, Barometer 29.78, Humidity 100%,Visibility 7 mi., Sunrise 7:40 am, Sunset 7:58 pm

70% chance of some morning rain becoming partly sunny in the afternoon. High In the mid 40s. NW winds 5-10 mph,

Partly cloudy with a low in the upper 20s. N winds 5-10 mph becoming NE overnight.

No steady rain this morning. Off and on showers which should clear out eventually and leave us a decent day. Nothing special in the week ahead. Lot of 40-degree days, unfortunately plenty of 20-degree nights too. In a not-so-wonderful weather pattern, I reckon. Rather mediocre and sort of drab. We can live through it until things nice up. And they will eventually. Just a matter of waiting it out.

Wednesday, March 22, 2023-SW Michigan-Gray Is The Color For The Day

Wednesday, March 22, 2023-SW Michigan-Gray Is The Color For The Day

Currently 41 with an average wind from the SE of 5 mph. Feels like 36 degrees. Dew Point 39, Barometer 29.94, Humidity 100%, Visibility 8 mi., Sunrise 7:42 am, Sunset 7:56 pm.

Cloudy with a 50% chance of rain. High in the upper 40s. S winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 25.

90% chance of overnight rain. Low in the upper 30s. S winds 5 mph becoming NW with gusts to 20.

Nary a hint of color out there this morning. About as gray a day as imaginable. Possible rain coming later and overnight. Looking ahead, the week is offering some sun, some clouds, some rain. Nothing spectacular and nothing drastic.  Looks like March is going to go out pretty much as it’s been. Not wonderful and looking more like it’s leaving remains of a not-so-lovely month to color the first week of April. I guess we’ll see, but from here, nothing too springlike in the foreseeable future.
