Sunday, March 31, 2019-South West Michigan- End Of March Snow Flurries

Sunday, March 31, 2019-South West Michigan- End Of March Snow Flurries

Currently 28 with a NW wind of 16 mph making it feel like 15 degrees. Dew Point 11, Humidity 50%, Barometer 30.23 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:26 am, Sunset 8:07 pm. Mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of some snow showers showing up. High 34. NW winds 15 – 25 mph.

Clear. Low 23. WSW winds 10 -20 mph.

Not particularly a pleasant last day of March. Off and on tiny snowflakes are showing up. Not anything we want or need at this stage of the game. The coming week promises to be boosting us up into the upper 40s, some 50s, perhaps even a 60 degree day so there is hope for April. Well…we always have hope that it’s going to be warmer and more enjoyable, but sometimes Mother Nature without hesitation dashes our hopes. We’ll see how it goes. Would be lovely if today was the last time we’d have to witness snow showers until next winter sometime.

Saturday, March 30, 2019-South West Michigan-Still Have Piles Of Dirty Snow Here And There

Saturday, March 30, 2019-South West Michigan-Still Have Piles Of Dirty Snow Here And There

Currently 37 with an average wind of 8 mph making it feel like 31 degrees. Dew Point 35, Humidity 94%, Barometer 29.82 & rising, Visibility 8 mi., Sunrise 7:28 am, Sunset 8:05 pm. Overcast with a 70% chance of rain. High 43. NNW winds 10 -20 mph.

Cloudy to partly cloudy. Low 23. NNW winds 15 -25 mph.

If we get some rain today, it may help put an end – or at least shrink them considerably – to the dirty piles of snow still lingering around the edges of parking lots and driveways. It’ll be nice to see the end of them. Tomorrow’s temperature isn’t going to be helpful as it’s supposed to dip back down into the lower 30s for the high. That’s not nice. But we’ll get past all that and it should start warming up and staying warm soon.

I see by the Hummingbird Migration map that they’ve been spotted up as far as Virginia already. I usually put my feeder out the first week of April and that’s fast approaching. Will be nice if the weather would give them a warm welcome when they get here.

Friday, March 29, 2019-South West Michigan-Lousy S Word Refuses To Leave

Friday, March 29, 2019-South West Michigan-Lousy S Word Refuses To Leave

Currently 46 with an E wind of 12 mph making it feel like 40 degrees. Dew Point 27, Humidity 47%, Barometer 30.14 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:29 am, Sunset 8:04 pm. Mix of sun and clouds today. High 54. ESE winds 10 -20 mph.

90% chance of rain tonight – possibility of snow mixing in – low around 34. ENE winds 5 – 10 mph.

Hate hearing there is a good chance of snowflakes mixing in the with rain tonight. It’s going to be cold Saturday and Sunday and the rumor is there is even a chance of some freezing rain sneaking in on Saturday. Hey…Mother Nature. We’ve had enough! This is becoming tiresome. What we want is sunshine, warm breezes and green. Lots of green. No more snow or freezing rain, please.

Thursday, March 28, 2019-South West Michigan-Mild And Appreciated

Thursday, March 28, 2019-South West Michigan-Mild And Appreciated

Currently 51 with a SW wind of 14 mph making it feel like 46 degrees. Dew Point 39, Humidity 63%, Barometer 30.01 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:31 am, Sunset 8:03 pm. Partly cloudy today with a high around 57. WSW winds 10 -20 mph.

Cloudy to partly cloudy tonight. Low 33. NNE winds 5 – 10 mph.

Just a nice day on tap. Doesn’t appear to be any rain coming in today, a bit breezy, but that’s okay. We’re just appreciative of the mild temperatures. More dirty snow piles to dissolve.  I see rain/snow over the weekend but for now, it looks to be missing us. Sure do hope that holds true. We’ve seen enough snow and although Sunday seems to be shaping up to be a cold one – for now, it’s telling us around  38 degrees- if it’s minus snow, that’s going to still be a good day in our book. We’ll see how it goes.

Wednesday, March 27, 2019-South West Michigan-Clouds Will Move In Bringing Overnight Rain

Wednesday, March 27, 2019-South West Michigan-Clouds Will Move In Bringing Overnight Rain

Currently 35 with a S wind of 9 mph making it feel like 28 degrees. Dew Point 18, Humidity 50%, Barometer 30.37 & falling, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:53 am, Sunset 8:02 pm.  Mostly sunny morning will give way to a cloudy afternoon. High 53. SSW winds 10 -20 mph.

Cloudy overnight with a 50% chance of rain. Low 43. SSW winds 10 -20 mph.

Supposed to be sunny out there right now, but it’s become a pale sky. A thin cloud cover is beginning to move in already making that sunny morning one on the dim side. We’ll take it. We’ll take anything that doesn’t involve snow at this stage. At least the temperature is supposed to climb into the 50s today and that’s more than welcome. Spring is trying hard to move in and make us forget the miserable season we’re doing our best to leave behind.

Tuesday, March 26, 2019-South West Michigan-Lots Of Sunshine Today

Tuesday, March 26, 2019-South West Michigan-Lots Of Sunshine Today

Current temperature 34 with an ENE wind of 7 mph making it feel like 28 degrees. Dew Point 9, Humidity 35%, Barometer 30.49 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:35 am, Sunset 8:01 mph. Mostly sunny today with a high of 46. Light and variable winds.

Mostly cloudy becoming clear overnight. Low 26. Light and variable winds.

Going to see blue skies today with a temperature high enough to help erase some of the dirty blobs of snow piled up here and there. That and some rain coming around Thursday and Friday should help with all but what were the highest piles. Those seem to shrink and get uglier but not vanish for the longest time. Looking forward to when it’s all done and gone.

Monday, March 25, 2019-South West Michigan – Lots Of Sunshine Today

Monday, March 25, 2019-South West Michigan – Lots Of Sunshine Today

Currently 31 with a NE wind of 13 mph making it feel like 21 degrees. Dew Point 13, Humidity 47%, Barometer 30.31 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:37 am, Sunset 8:00pm. Sunny today with a high of 44 degrees. NNE winds 10 -20 mph.

Clear overnight skies. Low 20. NNE winds 10 -15 mph.

Plenty of sunshine today and how welcome that is. Still piles of dirty snow here and there but gradually they grow smaller and uglier. Can’t wait for it all to be gone. It’s just so delightful to be able to head on out the door without putting on boots. Can’t wait to be able to say that minus a coat. Eventually. It’s on the way!

Sunday, March 24, 2019-South West Michigan-First Robin Of Spring In My Backyard

Sunday, March 24, 2019-South West Michigan-First Robin Of Spring In My Backyard

Currently 46 with a SW wind of 6 mph making it feel like 43 degrees. Dew Point 26, Humidity 45%, Barometer 3o.13 & falling, Visibility 10 mil, sunrise 7:38 am, sunset 7:58 pm. Partly cloudy this morning will becoming overcast in the afternoon. High 51. W winds 5 – 10 mph.

Mostly cloudy becoming clear overnight. Low 29. NE winds 10 -15 .

My first Spring Robin of 2019 in my tiny backyard yesterday. The little slacker sure took his time. Everyone else around here has seen them for the past week. Oh well…he’s back and that’s all that counts. I’ve hung the nesting material basket out and I’m tossing raisins out with the bird seed. Can’t give ’em worms, but I can furnish what I do know they’ll eat. Raisins. At any rate, a sure sign of Spring when the Robins return. And I find it amazing, as I do every year, that they seem to come back en mass.  None and then they’re all over the place. Welcome back, birds.

Saturday, March 23, 2019-South West Michigan-Clear Sky, Sunshine Today

Saturday, March 23, 2019-South West Michigan-Clear Sky, Sunshine Today

Currently 28 with a WNW wind of 6 mph making it feel like 21 degrees. Dew Point 19, Humidity 68%, Barometer 30.32 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:40 am, Sunset 7:57 pm. Sunny today with a high of 46. W winds 10 -15 mph.

Clear early becoming cloudy overnight. Low 31. SW winds 5 – 10 mph.

The sky is a pale blue this morning, but it is blue. Not a cloud in sight and that’s a great thing. Even though it’s starting off chilly and won’t warm up a tremendous amount, the sunshine will make it seem better than it is. In Michigan, we spend far too many days in the winter minus so much as a hint of sunshine, so when it puts in an appearance, everyone has more energy and interest in accomplishing things. Still can’t do much of anything outdoors yet, but that’s okay. The time is coming. We’re getting there.

Friday, March 22, 2019-South West Michigan-Still Have Backyard Snow

Friday, March 22, 2019-South West Michigan-Still Have Backyard Snow

Currently 34 with a NNW wind of 15 mph making it feel like 24. Dew Point 26, Barometer 29.97 & rising, Humidity 72%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:42 am, Sunset 7:56 pm. Decreasing cloudiness, high 37. NNW winds 20 -30 mph with higher gusts possible.

Clear overnight skies, low 20. NNW winds 10 -20 mph.

It might be nearing the end of March but I still have snow on the ground in my tiny backyard. Granted, it faces North and never gets any sunshine out there, but the temperatures could most certainly have been kinder and more helpful.
