Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019-South West Michigan-Rainy, Snowy Halloween Here

Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019-South West Michigan-Rainy, Snowy Halloween Here

Currently 36 with an average wind from the NNE of 13 mph. Feels like 27 degrees. Dew Pont 35, Barometer 29.72 & falling, Humidity 96%, Visibility 4 mi., Sunrise 8:15 am, Sunset 6:35 pm.

100% chance of rain/snow mix. Temperatures holding steady in the mid 30s. N winds 15 – 25 mph with higher gusts possible.

90% chance of evening snow, later clearing to partly cloudy. Snow acc. around an inch. Low 29. WNW winds 15 – 25 mph with gusts over 40 mph possible.

Not a great Halloween day here. Been raining all morning and it appears as if our afternoon is going to bring us some snow as there is a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until sometime Friday morning. Swell. So the Winter Weather Advisory misery starts already – and it’s Halloween, not Thanksgiving. Not Christmas. It’s Halloween. Something absolutely ridiculous about this. The only good thing to say is I don’t live in California. Frankly, I don’t know why anyone would anymore. Getting past fact that parts of  this once glorious, beautiful state are now being turned into trash dumps, the earthquakes – the wildfires are beyond horrendous. I feel dreadful for the people living there, but in all honesty? I feel the worst for the animals trapped there. The people could have the good sense to leave, the animals are just there. They don’t know there are better places, safer places for them to live. And I’m heartbroken for them.

Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019-South West Michigan-Wintry Mix And Cold Tempertatures

Currently 36 with an average wind from the E of 4 mph. Feels like 33 degrees. Dew Point 34, Barometer 30.31, Humidity 93%, Visibility 0.3 mi., Sunrise 8:13 am, Sunset 6:36 pm. 100% chance of a rain/snow mix this morning becoming all rain in the afternoon. Temperatures steady in the upper 30s. NE winds 5 – 10 mph.

90% chance of occasional light rain showers overnight. Low 36. NNE winds 10 – 15 mph.

It’s just plain miserable out there this morning. Went out to feed the birds and felt bad for them having to stay out there while I was able to tuck back in where it’s warm and dry. This isn’t nice weather for October. Well, not nice, period. But especially not before we even get to enjoy Halloween. It’s not looking like a comfortable trek for the kidlets tomorrow night. Not that there are many these days. Not with the freakish, dangerous world we offer them these days, but hey… At any rate, our weather is pretty crummy today – and will be again tomorrow.

Several days of rain coming our way but I think the most concerning is Saturday when that great sweep of snow moving toward the north might well present us with a share. We don’t need or want it.

Monday, Oct. 28, 2019-South West Michigan-Clouds To More Clouds

Monday, Oct. 28, 2019-South West Michigan-Clouds To More Clouds

Currently 45 with an average wind from the SSW of 7 mph. Feels like 41 degrees. Dew Point 44, Barometer 30.04 & rising, Humidity 98%, Visibility 5 mi., Sunrise 8:11 am, Sunset 6:39 pm. Partly cloudy morning to cloudy afternoon. High 54. WSW winds 5 – 10 mph.

Sure looks as if we’ve got one heck of a wet week coming at us. Even a wintry mix in there someplace. Not a pleasant bunch of days ahead. Best we can say is so far, no snow – not yet anyway.

Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019-South West Michigan-Heavy Overnight Rain

Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019-South West Michigan-Heavy Overnight Rain

Currently 49 with an average wind from the W of 15 mph. Feels like 43 degrees. Dew Point 47, Barometer 29.74, Humidity 92, visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:10 am, Sunset 6:40 pm. Cloudy with possible peeks of sunshine later. High 53. W winds 10 -20 mph.

A few passing clouds. Low 41. SSW winds 5 – 10 mph.

Quite like a Monsoon last night. A torrential rain that knocked down plenty more colored leaves. Had a hair short of 1 1/2″ of rain overnight in my outdoor gauge. Only blessing in those out driving in it last night was the fact that it wasn’t ice or snow. Wasn’t fun to be out in, at any rate. Which is without doubt on the way. In fact, this coming Wednesday is the first mention of Freezing Rain in our forecasts, never a good thought, always dangerous. I’m hoping this doesn’t come about. Freezing Rain is something we can all do without.

Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019-South West Michigan- Pleasant To Not So Much Forecast

Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019-South West Michigan- Pleasant To Not So Much Forecast

Currently 36 with an average wind from the E of 6 mph. Feels like 30 degrees. Dew Point 33, Barometer 30.15 & falling, Humidity 91%, Visibility 8 mi., Sunrise 8:08 am, Sunset 6:42 pm. Partly cloudy to cloudy afternoon with a 100% chance of rain. High 51. ESE winds 10 -15 mph.

100% chance of rain. Rainfall could reach 1″ with locally heavier possible. Low 46. E winds 15 – 25 mph.

It’s a fairly nice morning, a bit chilly, but decent enough. It seems like by evening and overnight, conditions will deteriorate to something best left outside while we remain inside. Sunday sounds like a winner, so far. But I’m betting a lot of the colorful trees will be stripped of their beauty by tonight’s rain. It’s been a brilliant Autumn here. Some years are a little on the rust, brown, dull side, but this time around so much red, orange and yellow makes driving around dangerous because you just want to haul out the camera and take pictures around every curve in the road. I’m confident that I was able to catch a lot of it this time and it will be to brighten up my scenery – at least by using some of them as computer backgrounds – when the outside view is nothing but our wintry white, black and gray…a depressing colorless scene for far too many months. Thank goodness for cameras – and computers :>)

Friday, Oct. 25, 2019-SouthWest Michigan-Clouds and Color

Friday, Oct. 25, 2019-SouthWest Michigan-Clouds and Color

Currently 43 with an average wind from the E of 1 mph. Feels like 41 degrees. Dew Point 36, Barometer 34.00, Humidity 77%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:07 am, Sunset 6:44 pm. Mostly cloudy today with a high around 49. W winds 5 – 10 mph.

Cloudy to partly cloudy overnight. Low 30. Light and variable winds.

Starting to hear that dread S words scattered in and about our forecasts. Seems there are a couple of cold fronts wandering about and heading our way. In addition to the uncomfortable temperatures, it’s sounding as if rain/snow mix could make an appearance. This is unconscionable on the part of Mother Nature. It’s not Halloween snow we enjoy. For those who feel the need for a white ground cover, it’s Christmas, not Halloween that is supposed to look pretty. Shape up, Mother Nature. Behave yourself.

In the meantime, lots of clouds for us, but also lots of color. Yesterday with the sun shining on them, the changing leaves were brilliant. A lovely time of year – long as you can hold off thinking about what follows too soon after, that is. I have trouble with that part.

Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019-South West Michigan-Lots Of Downed Leaves To Tend To

Currently 40 with a WSW wind of 5 mph. Feels like 38 degrees. Dew Point  39, Barometer 30.19 & rising, Humidity 94%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 8:06 am, Sunset 6:45 pm. Partly cloudy with a high of 51 degrees. WNW wind 5 – 10 mph.

Partly cloudy with a low of 34 degrees overnight. Light and variable winds.

Recent rain and winds have brought down even more of the leaves. Time for everyone able to get out there and clean it up before the weather turns on us and makes that impossible until spring. Ah….Spring…. Anyway, it’s pretty to look at, like a colored confetti carpet. But it’s leaves a whole lot of skeletal branches behind. And that’s a sad sight.

Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019-South West Michigan-Sun, Clouds, Colorful Leaves

Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019-South West Michigan-Sun, Clouds, Colorful Leaves

Currently 45 with an average wind from the WSW of 15 mph. Feels like 38 degrees. Dew Point 35, Barometer 29.87 & rising, Humidity 69%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:05 am, Sunset 6:46 pm. Sun and clouds with a slight chance of a rain shower. High 53. WSW winds 15 – 25 mph.

70% chance of overnight rain.Low 41. W winds 5 – 10 mph.

So many leaves on the ground due to our recent high winds. Still plenty left, and lots of them still green, but the ground is literally littered with a carpet of color. Wet color, but still…

Had about .60″ of rain from the system that blew past. Today looks to be a dry one, but you never do know. Plenty of clouds floating around up there that might decide to turn ugly. For now it’s an OK morning.

Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019-South West Michigan-Rain & Wind

Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019-South West Michigan-Rain & Wind

Currently 48 with an average wind from the S of 18 mph. Feels like 41 degrees. Dew Point 41, Barometer 29.52 & falling, Humidity 76%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 8:03 am, Sunset 6:38 pm. 70% chance of morning showers to steady afternoon rain. Windy. High 49. SW winds 20 -30 mph with gusts over 40 mph.

60% chance of overnight showers turning to overcast skies. Low 42. SW winds 10-20 mph.

Very windy out there this morning. Leaves flying around like it’s their only purpose in life. The green ones, of which there are still plenty, seem to be doing their best to hold their positions on the branches, but any with color are loose and flying. It’s not a pretty day, nor is it going to improve.
