Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020-SW Michigan-Feb Departing, March Arriving On Friendly Terms

Currently 27 with an average wind from the WNW of 13 mph. Feels like 16 degrees. Dew Point 12, Barometer 30.14 & rising, Humidity 52%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:18 am, Sunset 6:30 pm.

Sunny today with a high of 33. W winds 10-20 mph.

Clear to partly cloudy overnight. Low 23. SSW winds 5 – 10 mph.

Today wraps up what has been a really decent Winter. And yes, I know the calendar and all that, but anyone with a working brain knows that Winter is Dec., Jan, Feb…and March means Spring. Looking forward to finally having what I declare every single year, “March could be nice.” come true. Been a fairly warm Winter and I’m looking forward to a fairly warm Spring. My kind of year. And I won’t even mind if March brings more rain in with the warmer temperatures. It won’t be snow and that’s what counts. For now, the first hint of rain seems to be about next Thursday. Good enough!

Friday, Feb. 28, 2020-SW Michigan-Cold But Warming Up By Sunday

Friday, Feb. 28, 2020-SW Michigan-Cold But Warming Up By Sunday

Currently 21 with an average wind from the WNW of 17 mph. Feels like 7 degrees. Dew Point 9, Barometer 29.96 & rising, Humidity 59%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 7:20 am, Sunset 6:29 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of morning snow showers. High near 25. WNW winds 15 -25 mph.

Cloudy to partly cloudy with a few snow flurries possible. Low 19. WNW 10 -20 mph.

It’s another chilly morning and the day will not warm up much with a brisk wind blowing. Yesterday was the same. It will be nice when things warm up a bit again. By Sunday it should be feeling much more comfortable around here up toward 50. Imagine that. And with sunshine. Sunday will be a glorious day. Granted a bit more snow could be coming our way the beginning of the week. On the other hand, it could jolly well be just rain, which wouldn’t be a bad thing. Start getting rid of the dirty piles of snow littering the scene.

Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020-South West Michigan-Chilly, Windy, Light Blowing Snow

Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020-South West Michigan-Chilly, Windy, Light Blowing Snow

Currently 22 with an average wind from the W of 20 mph. Feels Like 7 degrees. Dew Point 8, Barometer 29.97 & falling, Humidity 54%, Visibility 9mi., Sunrise 7:21 am, Sunset 6:28 pm.

Cloudy with a few snow showers. High 23. WNW winds 15 -25 mph.

Mostly cloudy with a low of 17. WNW winds 10 -20 mph.

It’s chilly and with the breeze blowing as stiff as it is, it feels much colder. Not a pleasant day to be out and about. When the snow showers race through it’s like a fine white curtain swirling around. Tomorrow should be better, but this day is a good one to be inside and waiting it out. I was out there. Don’t want to be out there again until it gets better.

Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020-South West Michigan-Light Snow To Fall All Day

Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020-South West Michigan-Light Snow To Fall All Day

Currently 26 with an average wind from the N of 11 mph. Feels like 16 degrees. Dew Point 19, Barometer 30.07 & rising, Humidity 73%, Visibility 0.3 mi., Sunrise 7:23 am, Sunset 6:27 pm

90% chance of light snow all day long. 1-3″ likely. High 31. N winds 10 -15 mph.

Cloudy overnight with a 50% chance of snow showers. Low around  20. NW winds 10 -10 mph.

It’s a fine, light snow. Steady with an occasional shift in direction. Small, but visible. Looks to me very much like gazing into an enormous snow globe that has been shaken to set the snow in movement. Usually snow globe snow settles down and it has to be picked up and shaken again for more action. Not here. Not today. Looks like this is from a snow globe determined not to let the viewer down. I’m happy just to be inside watching off and on without any need to go out in it. The snow is light so it’s doubtful any heavy accumulation will add up. Of course, we’re surprised every so often, but I don’t think we will be today.

Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020-South West Michigan-Weather Forecast Changed Overnight

Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020-South West Michigan-Weather Forecast Changed Overnight

Currently 30 with an average wind from the NNE of 11 mph. Currently 21 degrees. Dew Point 25, Barometer 29.88 & rising, Humidity 81%, visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:25 am, Sunset 6:25 pm.

Cloudy skies with a high of 39. NE winds 10 -20 mph.

Cloudy overnight skies. Low 26. NE w inds 10 -15 mph.

Well, when I went to bed last night we had a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from this evening though tomorrow evening. Could have received 4 – 7″ of snow. This morning? Not a hint of any Winter Weather Advisory in effect. The snow, at least for today, has been changed to rain. I did read in one place that it could be a frozen mix, in another just rain. My, my, my we evidently get out choice. I choose plain rain. I reckon by the end of today, or at least by the end of tomorrow evening we’ll find out what really is – or was – in store for our area.

Monday, Feb. 24, 2020-South West Michigan-Going To Get Cold Again This Week

Monday, Feb. 24, 2020-South West Michigan-Going To Get Cold Again This Week

Currently 35 with an average wind from the NNE of 5 mph. Feels like 30 degrees. Dew Point 28, Barometer 29.97 & rising, Humidity 77%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:26 am, Sunset 6:24 pm.

A morning mix of sun and clouds will give way to afternoon cloudy skies. High around 45. ENE winds 5 – 10 mph.

Overcast overnight. Low near 30. ENE winds 10 -15 mph.

That pesky Jet Stream is set to allow a whole lot of cold air to spill out down through the states, clear into the south by the end of the week. Snow will be heading our way starting tomorrow right on through to the weekend, so it isn’t going to be a wonderful week. Sort of fitting for winding up the month of February, but not appreciated anyway. So, I’m out and about today to get things done, will probably be in hibernation mode until the weekend shows up with some relief from the wintry weather.

Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020-South West Michigan-Another Sunny Day For Us

Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020-South West Michigan-Another Sunny Day For Us

Currently 32 with an average wind from the SSW of 10 mph. Feels like 24 degrees. Dew Point 22, Barometer 29.98 & falling, Humidity 65%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:28 am, Sunset 6:23 pm.

Plenty of sunshine. High near 45. SW winds 10 -20 mph.

Partly to mostly cloudy overnight. Low 27. WSW winds 10 – 15 mph.

We have to enjoy today because it looks like a few days of snow might be heading out way. Temperatures will drop back down into the 20s for the end of the week, but that’s to be expected. This is, after all, still February. Been a good one, so far, but still… I really can’t believe we’re going to escape this winter with what we’ve experienced so far. Surely we’ll be hit by a hideous ice storm or a blizzard or something. Maybe we’re all just sitting around waiting for the other shoe to fall, but if we escape anything drastic for the rest of this season, it’s going to be one that we’ll remember for awhile. Not our usual winter, that’s for sure.

Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020-South West Michigan-Some Sun Today, Maybe Tomorrow

Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020-South West Michigan-Some Sun Today, Maybe Tomorrow

Currently 30 with an average wind from the SW of 12 mph. Feels like 21 degrees. Dew Point 22, Barometer30.22 & rising, Humidity 70%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:29 am, Sunset 6:21 pm.

Sunny today with a high of 39. WSW winds 10 -20 mph.

Cloudy to partly cloudy after midnight. Low 29. SW winds 10 -15 mph.

Sounds like a great mix of weather coming over the next couple of weeks. First off, the Jet Stream is going to allow plenty of chilly air to escape into our area and rain and snow and rain/snow mix all seem to be on the horizon. Especially the first week of March.  Swell.  Right at the moment, it’s supposed to be sunny but the sky is more a shade of pale blue/gray than any bright blue. Sort of a thin layer obscuring the blue that’s supposed to be clear by now. I’m sure it will clean out and blue up. We’ll see.

Friday, Feb. 21, 2020-South West Michigan-Clouds Clearing Our For The Day

Friday, Feb. 21, 2020-South West Michigan-Clouds Clearing Our For The Day

Currently 18 with an average wind from teh WSW of 12 mph. Feels like 6 degrees. Dew Point, Barometer 30.53 & falling, Humidity 73%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:31 am, Sunset 6:20 pm.

Clouds clearing out leaving sunshine galore for the rest of the day. High 32. WSW winds 15 -20 mph with higher gusts possible.

Clear overnight skies. Low 26. WSW winds 10 -20 mph.

Well, the clouds haven’t quite departed yet, but it seems they are on their way. Wish we could get rid of the cold temperatures, too. Granted, it does sound as if Sunday and Monday we may find ourselves in the low 40s, but then it all tumbles again back into the 20s. I mean for good, get rid of the cold. I’m so longing for 70 and 80 degree days. I know. I know. They’re on the way, but they’re still a long way off and for a person who purely does hate being cold, it’s going to be a long wait. In the meantime, the blue skies up there help.

Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020-South West Michigan-Chilly But Peeks Of Sunshine Possible

Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020-South West Michigan-Chilly But Peeks Of Sunshine Possible

Currently 16 with an average wind from the NNW of 4 mph. Feels like 9 degrees. Dew Point 6, Barometer 30.70 & rising, Humidity 64%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:32 am, Sunset 6:19 pm.

Cloudy with a few peeks of sunshine expected. A couple of snow flurries likely. High 21. NW winds 5 – 10 mph.

Clear overnight skies. Low near 10. WSW winds 5 -10 mph.

Quite chilly out there this morning. But the peeks of sunshine are showing up already, which is a perk. The temperature is due to rise back up into the 30s, maybe even the 40s. At least for the next 4 or 5 days. Good enough. We are nearing the end of February and it can only get better from here. Now if that pesky Jet Stream that’s allowing all of this cold air to leak down into our area would only slip back up north and leave us alone – that would be good.
