Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020-South West Michigan-Couple Of Cold Days For Us

Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020-South West Michigan-Couple Of Cold Days For Us

Currently 20 with an average wind from the WNW of 9 mph. Feels like 9 degrees. Dew Point 7, Barometer 30.57 & rising, Humidity 59%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:39 am, Sunset 6:18 pm.

Partly cloudy skies today. High 24. W winds 10 – 20 mph.

Partly cloudy with increasing overnight clouds. Low 11. WNW 5 – 10 mph.

Going to get chilly today and through tomorrow. But there is hope. Things will warm up a bit after that. So far, so good. This is one of those winters I don’t mind in the least. Not over yet, but so far it’s tolerable. And tolerating winter is the very best I can do. The sky is a lovely shade of blue today. A bit blurred here and there with clouds floating through, but the blue itself is bright and beautiful. Just the color we love to see the most up there over our heads.

Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020-South West Michigan-Cold Blast Coming

Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020-South West Michigan-Cold Blast Coming

Currently 34 with an average wind from the W of 21 mph. Feels like 23 degrees. Dew Point 29, Barometer 29.92 & rising, Humidity 81%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:35 am, Sunset 6:16 pm.

Windy. Cloudy skies becoming partly cloudy. A few snow flurries possible.  High 35. WNW winds 20 -30 mph.

A few overnight clouds. Some snow showers possible. Low near 15. WNW winds 10 20 mph.

Got more snow last night than rain. In fact, at one point I got up in the night and looked out the window to find a fairy tale world. Everything vanilla frosted and beautiful. I thought, for a moment, of going out to try and catch a few pictures, but was too lazy. Too intent on getting back to sleep. Thought perhaps I’d be able to get a few shots first thing in the moment, but alas…the wind and rising temperatures erased the possibility and it was all gone by the time I got up and got my day in gear. Nothing but slush remaining. And now the cold is going to descend on us tonight and by Thursday the high will probably only be about 19 degrees. I fear all of this slush and mess will end up a frozen mess to try and travel through by foot or behind a wheel. Perhaps the roads will be okay but I fear the yards, driveways and sidewalks probably won’t be. Guess we’ll find out.

Monday, Feb. 17, 2020-South West Michigan-Winter Weather Advisory For Late Today Through Tonight

Currently 21 with an average wind from the E of 13 mph. Feels like 8 degrees. Dew Point 13, Barometer 30.26, Humidity 70%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:37 am, Sunset 6:15 pm.

Winter Weather Advisory in effect from about 5:00 this afternoon through early tomorrow morning. Snow perhaps mixed with a light ice glaze likely. Sounds like a messy night resulting in slippery morning commutes for workers. Once this batch of ugliness clears out it looks to be a decent week ahead. Even peeks of sunshine here and there. We just have to get through this bout of no so pleasant. We can do that.

Sunday, Feb. 16, 2020-South West Michigan- Morning Clouds, Afternoon Sun

Sunday, Feb. 16, 2020-South West Michigan- Morning Clouds, Afternoon Sun

Some morning clouds will give way to afternoon sunny skies. High 34. W winds 10 -15 mph.

Mostly clear overnight skies. Low 14. NE winds 5 – 10 mph.

Except for Monday night, which sounds as if it could get a bit messy, this coming week looks pretty decent. Nothing drastic in the wind – or so it looks for now. We all know how quickly things can change, but so far, so good. Do you know, it’s almost March? AND MARCH COULD BE NICE.

Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020-South West Michigan-Snow Developing Late Today

Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020-South West Michigan-Snow Developing Late Today

Currently 17 with an average wind from the S of 14 mph. Feels like 3 degrees. Dew Point 5, Barometer 30.21 & falling, Humidity 59%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:40 am, Sunset 6:12 pm.

Cloudy with an 80% chance of snow developing later in the afternoon. High 28. SSW winds 15 – 25 mph with higher gusts possible.

40% chance of overnight snow. Low 26. WSW winds 10 -20 mph.

Not much more than gloom and cold going on so far, but snow is expected later. Doesn’t sound like a lot of it, just enough to mess up the roads, I suspect. It does look as if snow is in the forecast for the next few days. After all it’s still February. We can expect cold and snow. Nothing we can’t handle. Or complain about, really. Not after the mild winter we’ve had so far. We had snow early – Halloween – and not much in between. I’m betting Mother Nature will wrap up the package with snow late. Sort of a snow sandwich with an easy winter in the middle.

This morning we’re treated to a few glimpses of the sun but we’re destined to lose those by this afternoon and gain a few snow flakes in place. And cold is going to stay with us all day and through tonight.

There is a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from around 7 this evening through 7 tomorrow evening. We may or may not get a bunch of snow, but nothing really drastic is expected. Going to be a short report this morning, too painful to type. An arthritic right thumb is killing me and making that entire hand darn near unusable. Ah, the joys of life :>)

Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020-South West Michigan-Snow Moving In Tomorrow Sometime

Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020-South West Michigan-Snow Moving In Tomorrow Sometime

Currently 28 with an average wind from the WSW of 11 mph. Feels like 18 degrees. Dew Point 24, Barometer 30.07 & rising, Humidity 83%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:45 am, Sunset 6:07 pm.

Overcast today. High 30. W winds 10 -20 mph.

A few overnight clouds. Low 23. WSW winds 10 -15 mph.

Today perhaps nothing much but clouds but tomorrow or tomorrow night here comes move snow. And worse, by Friday our temperatures are going to take a great big dip downward. Should recover from that by the beginning of next week, but the next handful of days should be miserable.

Monday, Feb. 10, 2020-South West Michigan-Didn’t Get A Ton Of Snow

Monday, Feb. 10, 2020-South West Michigan-Didn’t Get A Ton Of Snow

Temperature 30 with an average wind from the N of 7 mph. Feels like 23 degrees. Dew Point 22, Barometer 30.15 & rising, Humidity 72%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:47 am, Sunset 6:06 pm.

Cloudy skies becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon. High temperature holding steady in the low to mid 30s. WNW winds 5 – 10 mph.

Partly cloudy becoming cloudy after midnight. Low 20. WSW winds 5 -10 mph.

The total of snow from the Winter Weather Advisory yesterday only amounted to a little over 2″ in my little backyard. Now we’re looking at clouds, perhaps a small break in those clouds this afternoon, but no more snow until perhaps Wednesday/Thursday. Fair enough. Winter remains a mild creature so far this year.
