An unquenchable thirst for knowledge about the weather, an observer of world-wide weather events, and an addicted fan of the Weather Channel on TV. Some occurrences from our not too distant past have left me horrified to this day- such as the possibly avoidable tragedy of the damage and death trailing behind Katrina, where human error combined with Mother Nature for sheer terror, the unspeakable destructive Tsunamis in Japan and Thailand, scenes and sounds of which I can hardly bear to see or hear. But I do see and hear it all because I am enthralled, fascinated, by weather driven happenings every bit as much as I am captivated by the clouds in our ever-changing sky. No impressive credentials, no list of meaningful letters trailing after my name, this is merely me, just another weather junky having my say about it all.

Wednesday, July 3, 2019-South West Michigan-Maybe Some Afternoon Sun Peeking Through

Currently 74 with an average wind from the NE of 5 mph. Feels like 74. Dew Point 70, Humidity 88%, Barometer 29.91 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:07 am, Sunset 9:25 pm. Cloudy early becoming partly cloudy. A stray shower or thunderstorm. High around 85. Light and variable winds.

A few overnight clouds. Low 67. E winds 5 – 10 mph.

We did get a few pretty good storms rolling through last evening. It didn’t amount to much right here beyond a dark sky, some wind and some rain. My understanding is it was more severe in other areas, but not too drastic here. I quite enjoyed what we did get. Livened up the evening but nothing to get too excited about. Seems we’re destined to remain on the hot side until this weekend where we should drop down about 10 degrees. That will be refreshing. We’ll see how it goes.

80% chance of early thunderstorms, then cloudy skies after midnight. Low 67. W winds 5 -10 mph.

Finally had to turn on the A/C yesterday afternoon. 90 degrees will do that – even for me. Felt darn good in here, too. Today is warm and humid. Not supposed to hit 90 again this week, but then you never know. Going to have a few days of humidity and rain though. Just regular Summer stuff for the most part.

Not so much cloudy as sunny this morning and it feels like a wonderful day so far. Windows open, tiny breeze sneaking around, barely making itself known.  A chance of rain for the next 4 days, but it seems as if we’ll escape the precipitation today. Another fantastic summer day for my little backyard. Happy me.

It’s a lovely Summer day and everyone is amazed that with yesterday, this gives us a whole great weekend of pleasant weather. Wow! We’re all enjoying it immensely. Especially when looking ahead it appears there is a good chance of rain throughout the entire week. The 4th of July doesn’t look very promising hereabout. I guess it’s going to be a wait and see event. For today, all is good. It’s just difficult to imagine that this is already the last day of June. As usual, summer if flying past much too quickly.

Saturday, June 29, 2019-South West Michigan-Nicely Hot And Sunny

Currently 75 with an average wind from the N of 4 mph. Feels like 75 degrees. Dew point 64, Humidity 65%, Barometer 30.10 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:06 am, Sunset 9:26 pm. A few passing morning clouds will give way to clear and sunny skies. High 88. NW winds 5 – 10 mph.

Generally clear overnight sky. Low 62. NW winds 5 – 10 mph.

A lovely weekend shaping up. Hot and sunny. Just what Summer is all about. I’m loving it. And as much as I do love hot weather, the excessive, extreme stuff that other places are enduring – like France setting records something like 11 days in a row – is intolerable. Even I would wilt and complain in a massive heat wave like Europe is undergoing right now. It’s deadly hot there. Thanking my lucky stars that I only have hot – not HOT – weather here.

Friday, June 28, 2019-South West Michigan-Another Welcome Hot Summer Day

Friday, June 28, 2019-South West Michigan-Another Welcome Hot Summer Day

Currently 74 with an average wind from the SSW of 6 mph. Feels like 74 degrees. Dew Point 65, Humidity 74%, Barometer 30.14 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:05 am, Sunset 9:26 pm. 40% chance of overnight showers and thunderstorms. Low 67. W winds 5 -10 mph.

Well, for a moment or two yesterday I was tempted to turn on the A/C, but I didn’t. Driving around tending to errands the car gauge registered 91, and it felt like it for awhile. But I rationalized that I’ve complained about the cold and waiting for what seems like about forever for this summery heat, why block it off with phony cold air? So I simply enjoyed it. And I did. I really did. I’ll be enjoying today’s heat, too. I know. Call me crazy, but I sure do love life when it’s warm and have a hard time dealing with it when it isn’t.

Thursday, June 27, 2019-South West Michigan-Sunny And Hot!

Thursday, June 27, 2019-South West Michigan-Sunny And Hot!

Currently 71 with an average wind from the SSE of 2 mph. Feels like 71 degrees. Dew Point 62, Humidity 72%, Barometer 30.16 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:05 am, Sunset 9:25 pm. Nothing but sunshine today. High 90. Light and variable winds.

Partly cloudy to cloudy overnight with a slight chance of a stray shower or thundershower passing through. Low near 70. Light and variable winds.

Today is a total Summer day. Couldn’t be better. I may – or may not – turn on the A/C. I’m just enjoying the heat – finally. I guess that’s why I can’t quite make myself think of closing the windows and turning on fake air. We’ve waiting so darn long for this to get here that it would be a shame to block it out. Well…that’s my thinking at this moment anyway. Maybe later today when the air gets stifling and sweating is the name of the game, my thinking my change. LOL Who knows? For now I’m happy as can be that it’s Summer at long last.

Wednesday, June 26, 2019-South West Michigan-Another Grand Summer Day

Wednesday, June 26, 2019-South West Michigan-Another Grand Summer Day

Currently 69 with an average wind from the W of 6 mph. Feels like 69 degrees. Dew Point 59, Humidity 73%, Barometer 30.01 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:05 am, Sunset 9:26 pm. Plenty of sunshine. High 84. W winds 10 – 15 mph.

Mostly clear with a slight chance of a stray shower or thunderstorm. Low 64. S winds 5 -10 mph.

It looks as if we are in store for some upper 80 days coming up. I’m looking forward to that. Been a long wait for hot summer days to be here. I noticed that one of the local library locations will be closed today because – gasp! – they have no working A/C. Now I’m feeling downright sad for those poor babies, unable to work in an 84 degree day without cold air blasting around them. What the heck? Do you get the feeling too many people are a tad too pampered? Well, maybe you don’t, but I sure as heck do. Oh well…good thing I’m not in charge there or their coddled behinds would be right where they belong – at work, maybe with some fans at work with them. Geez….

Tuesday, June 25, 2019-South West Michigan-A Splendid Summer Day

Tuesday, June 25, 2019-South West Michigan-A Splendid Summer Day

Currently 69 with an average wind from the WSW of 11 mph. Feels like 69 degrees. Dew Point 57, Humidity 67%, Barometer 29.83 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:04 am, Sunset 9:26 pm. Partly cloudy with a stray shower or thunderstorm cropping up later. High 83. WSW winds 10-20 mph.

50% chance of scattered showers or thunderstorms, mostly in the evening. Low 63. SW winds 10 -20mph.

It’s a great morning. The air is cool enough, yet warm enough, for comfort. The sun is shining for all its worth and if there is a WSW wind of 11 mph, I don’t know where it’s hiding. The air is calm and still. Such wonderful summer weather. If it does rain later, so be it. In the meantime the morning is about perfect.

Monday, June 24, 2019-South West Michigan-Yesterday’s Nice Dissolved Into Rain For Today

Partly to mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of rain or scattered thunderstorms. Low 61. WSW winds 10 – 15 mph.

Yup, not only is it Monday, but it’s a gray, damp day. A goodly amount of overnight rain and most certainly going to get more today. For many, that’s what a Monday usually is, more or less. But today actually is exactly that. Gray and dreary. I don’t particularly care now that I don’t have to get out and get myself to work every Monday morning. I can make the day anything I want it to be, right here inside my little nest :>) So mostly, I’m thinking about the sunshine of the past few days and ignoring the gloom.
