An unquenchable thirst for knowledge about the weather, an observer of world-wide weather events, and an addicted fan of the Weather Channel on TV. Some occurrences from our not too distant past have left me horrified to this day- such as the possibly avoidable tragedy of the damage and death trailing behind Katrina, where human error combined with Mother Nature for sheer terror, the unspeakable destructive Tsunamis in Japan and Thailand, scenes and sounds of which I can hardly bear to see or hear. But I do see and hear it all because I am enthralled, fascinated, by weather driven happenings every bit as much as I am captivated by the clouds in our ever-changing sky. No impressive credentials, no list of meaningful letters trailing after my name, this is merely me, just another weather junky having my say about it all.

Saturday, July 13, 2019-South West Michigan- Hot Weather Week On The Way

Currently 76 with an average wind from the WSW of 11 mph. Feels like 76 degrees. Dew Point 64, Humidity 67%, Barometer 29.92 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:14 am, Sunset 9:20 pm. Nothing but sunshine today. High 87. W winds 10 -15 mph.

Clear overnight skies. Low 53. NNE winds 10 -15 mph.

Bracing for a very hot week of weather coming our way. I’ve seen numbers in the upper 90s showing up, so it’s going to be toughie. When the temperatures get up into the 90s and the dew point gets crazy – as it does here – it’s going to be mighty uncomfortable. Especially for all of those without A/C.

At least we’re not dealing with the right-now Tropical Storm Barry, which could conceivably become a hurricane by the time it hits shore. But either way, too much water for areas that do not need more water, chances for tornadoes. Nothing good coming from that storm…even for the upper west tip of Louisiana that really needs the rain, is nervous because if they do, indeed, get the rain, they also get the chances for tornadoes. Like I said, nothing good going on down there right now. We’ve only got heat to deal with and that’s enough.

Friday, July 12, 2019-South West Michigan-Already Dreading Next Weeks Temps

Currently 55 with an average wind from the WNW of 4 mph. Feels like 55 degrees. Dew Point 53, Humidity 94%, Barometer 29.98, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:13 am, Sunset 9:21 pm. Partly cloudy to a sunny afternoon. High 81. WNW winds 5 – 10 mph.

Partly cloudy with the possibility of a stray thunderstorms rolling through. Low 65. SW winds 5 – 10 mph.

A decent day today, but looking ahead to next week, all I see is 90 degrees day after day after day. It’s going to be a brutal stretch of weather – especially for those without A/C. I like warm weather, but I don’t care for being beaten down by it, smothered by it. I’m going to enjoy the heck out of today, get as much as I need done in the days ahead leading up to the onslaught of 90 degrees. And as far as I can see, there is no relief of rain anywhere in there until possibility the very end of the week.  Perhaps a  remnant of Barry traveling up this far to help out? I don’t know. All I do know is if we get any rain by week’s end after days of 90 degrees we’re going to be grateful for where ever it comes from. We’ll see how it goes. Things can change, but it doesn’t look at the moment like there’s any escape from the coming heat.

Thursday, July 11, 2019-South West Michigan-No Cooling Rain For Us, Staying Warm

Thursday, July 11, 2019-South West Michigan-No Cooling Rain For Us, Staying Warm

Currently 76 with an average wind from the NW of 8 mph. Feels like 76. Dew Point 62, Humidity 64%, Barometer 29.88 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:12 am, Sunset 9:22 pm. Partly cloudy today with a high around 78. NW winds 10 -15 mph.

Clear overnight skies. Low 55. NW winds 10 -15 mph.

Well, the overnight rain never did get here although we have managed to cool off a bit. The coming week is going to remain Summery hot and I don’t see any chance of any precip coming through to change anything.  Looks like nothing but sunshine with a few passing clouds for more than a week in our future. I’m thinking things will be crisp and dry by the time we get what by then will be much needed rain. And yes, I sure do know things can change in a hurry, but nothing up there looking like it’s set to do that for now.

Wednesday, July 10, 2019-South West Michigan-Small Chance Of Morning Showers, But Hot Today

Wednesday, July 10, 2019-South West Michigan-Small Chance Of Morning Showers, But Hot Today

Currently 69 with an average wind from the S of 6 mph. Feels like 69 degrees. Dew Point 62, Humidity 81%, Barometer 29.93 & falling, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:11 am, Sunset 9:22 pm. 30% chance of morning showers. Partly cloudy afternoon. High 90-92. SW winds 10 -15 mph.

50% chance of showers and thunderstorms overnight. Some storms could be severe. Low 66. WSW winds 5 – 10 mph.

Well, since the temperature is predicted to be 10-15 degrees cooler tomorrow, I suspect we’ll be getting some strong storms rolling through tonight. In the meantime, today’s going to be a hot, muggy one to get through. And it looks like it’s going to take the whole coming week to get us back to the 90 degree mark. We’ll get there, but the longer it takes, the better. 70s and 80s are good. 90s are heading into the uncomfortable area. Even for me.

Tuesday, July 9, 2019-South West Michigan-Another Spectacular Summer Day

Tuesday, July 9, 2019-South West Michigan-Another Spectacular Summer Day

Clear to cloudy overnight. Low 65. Light and variable winds.

Enjoying the day with its summery brightness and warmth. A bit of a breeze ruffling the air and making it feel nice and cool. Tomorrow sounds like it’s going to be a beast, close to 90 with a 30% chance of storms. Not a good day coming up and one that, unfortunately, I have to be out and about in. Figures. In the meantime, I’m enjoying this on to the max.

What a perfect Summer day! All set to heat back up again tomorrow for a couple of days, but today is going to be fantastic. And it sounds like another wonderful day coming our way about Thursday.  Just what makes Summer fun – a goodly mix of temperatures to enjoy. Suits me fine.

Currently 76 with an average wind from the NE of 11 mph. Feels like 76 degrees. Dew Point 56, Humidity 49%, Barometer 30.05, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:09 am, Sunset 9:23 pm. Sunshine galore today. High 81. ENE winds 10 – 15 mph.

Clear overnight skies. Low 56. ENE winds 5 – 10 mph.

What a glorious day! Not only a break from the brutal heat we’ve had this past week, but this is a picture post card day of what Summer is supposed to be. Refreshing and appreciated.  Peering ahead, it looks like about mid-week we could spike up to another near 90 with another opportunity for some storms, but other than that, the week ahead is looking good.

Saturday, July 6, 2019-South West Michigan-Lots Of Clouds, Still Quite Warm

Saturday, July 6, 2019-South West Michigan-Lots Of Clouds, Still Quite Warm

Currently 76 with an average wind from the ENE of 7 mph. Feels like 76 degrees. Dew Point 69, Humidity 78%, Barometer 30.00 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:09 am, Sunset 9:24 pm. Partly cloudy overnight. Low 62. NE winds 10 – 15 mph.

Nothing but clouds out there this morning but we do have the possibility of the temperatures dropped for awhile. Maybe enough to turn off the A/C. At least for me. Looking forward to that.

Friday, July 5, 2019-South West Michigan-Another Hot One With T-Storm Possibility

Friday, July 5, 2019-South West Michigan-Another Hot One With T-Storm Possibility

Currently 81 with an average Wind from the SW of 6 mph. Feels like 81 degrees. Dew Point 72, Humidity 87%, Barometer 29.99 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:08 am, Sunset 9:24 pm. A mix of sun and clouds with the possibility of a stray shower or thunderstorm. High 88. WSW winds 10 – 15 mph.

Partly cloudy tonight with that same chance of a stray shower or thunderstorm. Low 69. NNW winds 5 – 10 mph.

A calm day, so far, after a night of watching the most remarkable fireworks display over our Nation’s Capital ever seen. What a fantastic tribute to all of our military people it was that our patriotic President Trump put on. The whole of the July 4th day was devoted to celebrating our freedom and the folks who give their all to make sure we continue to be able to have those freedoms. No wonder our military people love President Trump so much – his appreciation of them and our country is genuine – and so refreshing.

Thursday, July 4, 2019-South West Michigan-Happy 4th Of July To All

Thursday, July 4, 2019-South West Michigan-Happy 4th Of July To All

Currently 71 with an average wind from the E of 5 mph. Feels like 71 degrees, Dew Point 65, Humidity 81%, Barometer 29.97 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:07 am, Sunset 9:24 pm.

Partly cloudy becoming cloudy today with a 50% chance of scattered afternoon thunderstorms. High 87. Light and variable winds.

Partly cloudy with the possibility of an overnight shower or thunderstorm cropping up. Low 71. Light and variable winds.

Fingers crossed that the multitude of July 4th celebrations will be able to proceed and not end up rained out this evening. Right now it’s looking a bit iffy, but who knows? Things can change by then. In the meantime, I’m wishing everyone a joyous and Happy 4th of July enjoying the knowledge that this country is still able to celebrate its independence. May it always be so.
