An unquenchable thirst for knowledge about the weather, an observer of world-wide weather events, and an addicted fan of the Weather Channel on TV. Some occurrences from our not too distant past have left me horrified to this day- such as the possibly avoidable tragedy of the damage and death trailing behind Katrina, where human error combined with Mother Nature for sheer terror, the unspeakable destructive Tsunamis in Japan and Thailand, scenes and sounds of which I can hardly bear to see or hear. But I do see and hear it all because I am enthralled, fascinated, by weather driven happenings every bit as much as I am captivated by the clouds in our ever-changing sky. No impressive credentials, no list of meaningful letters trailing after my name, this is merely me, just another weather junky having my say about it all.

Sounds like it will be warmer today and more so tomorrow. But then Monday may bring in rain that will lower our temperature again to the lower 80s. Sounds like a pattern we’re seeing now. Today looks great without a cloud cluttering the sky for now. It’s a fine Saturday.

Very fall-like weather right now. And seeing a pattern in that as soon as our temperatures rise up into the upper 80s, rain is scheduled to accompany it – thereby driving the temperature right back down. Swell. Seems as if the best of summer is past already. At least for me. I live for the high temperatures and we had a great run there for awhile. And I realize I am probably in the minority loving the hot days of summer but there you have it. I do. I am missing them already and hope they haven’t entirely vanished.

Currently 71 with an average wind from the WNW of 5 mph. Feels like 71. Dew Point 51, Barometer 30.1, Humidity 48%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:37 am, Sunset 8:58 pm.

Partly sunny coming mostly sunny. High in the lower 70s. W winds 5 -10 mph.

Mostly clear. Low in the lower 50s. Light winds.

A very pleasant day. Almost sweater weather this morning. It’s partly cloudy with big puffy clouds floating by but it does have a fall feel to it. Yesterday was a high energy day because it was a day very much like this. Today may be another one. If the days keep encouraging task tackling, my little put-aside chores may be cleared up in no time at all.

Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020-SW Michigan – Fall Feel To The Morning, Day

Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020-SW Michigan – Fall Feel To The Morning, Day

Currently 61 with an average wind from the NE of 3 mph. Feels like 61 degrees. Dew Point 55, Barometer 30.01, Humidity 79%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:36 am, Sunset 8:59 pm.

Mostly sunny with a 20% chance of a rain showers. High around 70. N winds 5 -10 mph.

Mostly clear. Low around 50. Light winds.

Sure felt like fall this morning and it isn’t warming up a tremendous amount today. I see no more 90 degree days in our forecast – at least not the foreseeable forecast. Seem to be lower 80s the best we can come up with for over the next 10 days. Things do change and who knows what will work its way back into our area, but for now it would seem the heat of summer is behind us. We’ll see.

Monday, Aug. 3, 2020-SW Michigan-Possible Rain Today, Much Cooler Tomorrow

Monday, Aug. 3, 2020-SW Michigan-Possible Rain Today, Much Cooler Tomorrow

Currently 70 with an average wind from the SW of 2 mph. Feels like 70 degrees. Dew Point 62, Barometer 29.96, Humidity 76%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:35 am, Sunset 9:00pm.

Partly sunny with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms. High in the lower 70s. Light winds becoming 5 -10 mph with gusts to around 20 in the afternoon.

Partly cloudy with a 20% chance of rain. Low in the mid 50s. N winds around 10 mph with gusts to 20.

Temperatures due to dip into the high 60s for tomorrow. Now that is downright chilly in my book.  Things will warm back up by the weekend, but this is un-summery weather to me. Getting too close to fall to have Mother Nature mess around with things now.

Sunday, Aug. 2, 2020-SW Michigan-Gloomy, Cool Day

Sunday, Aug. 2, 2020-SW Michigan-Gloomy, Cool Day

Currently 67 with an average wind from the WSW of 1 mph. Feels like 67. Dew Point 64, Barometer 29.31, Humidity 89%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:34 am, Sunset 9:01 pm.

70% chance of showers and thunderstorms. High in the upper 70s. NW winds around 10 mph becoming light.

Partly cloudy with a 40% chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms. Low in the lower 60s. Light winds.

Rather gloomy today. Woke to rain and it changed into a misty off and on version making it a bit uncomfortable. Coolish temperature and it does sound as if the coming week is going to bring us temperatures primarily in the 70s. That’s not bad. I don’t like the cool mornings that come with that temperature range, but then I’m one who does love the heat of a proper summer. For me, it’s been a dandy. For many not so much as it’s been a hot one. If things go according to forecast – and let’s face it, it so rarely does – next Sunday could have us in the upper 80s for the day. Personally, I can’t wait.

Saturday, August 1, 2020-SW Michigan-Rain Due To Move In The Evening/Overnight

Saturday, August 1, 2020-SW Michigan-Rain Due To Move In The Evening/Overnight

Currently 70 with an average wind from the ESE of 6 mph. Feels like 70 degrees. Dew Point 61, Barometer 29.93, Humidity 71%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:33 am, Sunset 9:03 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of afternoon showers. High in the lower 80s. Light winds.

80% chance of overnight showers. Low in the mid 60s. N winds around 10 mph.

I doubt there is much chance of rain today, but starting tonight we could be in for 2 or 3 days of rain. I guess today is the time to be out and about. The temperatures are comfortable and although the humidity is high it still feels fine today. Looking ahead, it seems as if our temperatures will remain in the upper 70s, perhaps lower 80s. Quite comfortable.

Friday, July 31, 2020-SW Michigan-A Pleasant Day To End July

Friday, July 31, 2020-SW Michigan-A Pleasant Day To End July

Currently 70 with an average wind from the NE of 2 mph. Feels like 70 degrees. Dew Point 59, Barometer 29.98, Humidity 67%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:32 am, Sunset 9:04 pm.

Mostly sunny until midday becoming partly sunny. High in the lower 80s. Light winds.

Partly cloudy. Low around 60. Light winds.

A really nice day to wind up the month of July. Difficult to imagine we’re heading into August already. So far, it’s been a terrific summer – at least for those of us who enjoy hot weather. I’m looking forward to it continuing through August. As of today, the possibility of rain has grown into 3 days…Sunday until Wednesday. But that’s, as always, up for debate. Things change practically overnight in the world of weather. In the meantime we have some terrific days to enjoy.

Thursday, July 30, 2020-SW Michigan-Feels Like Fall In The Morning

Thursday, July 30, 2020-SW Michigan-Feels Like Fall In The Morning

Currently 73 with an average wind from the E of 4 mph. Feels like 73 degrees. Dew Point 60, Barometer 29.95, Humidity 63%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:31 am, Sunset 9:05 pm.

Mostly sunny with a high in the lower 80s. NE winds 5 -1 0 mph.

M0stly clear overnight. Low in the upper 50s. NE winds 5 -10 mph with gusts to 20 in the evening.

After so much heat, such high temperatures, our cool mornings now have the feeling of fall already. At least to me they do. Most consider them refreshing, but I truly do like the heat. Silly me, right? I don’t see any more 90 degrees in our forecast, at least for the next week. A couple of days of rain – maybe Sunday, Monday. But the temperatures are scheduled to remain comfortable as opposed to humid 90s.
