An unquenchable thirst for knowledge about the weather, an observer of world-wide weather events, and an addicted fan of the Weather Channel on TV. Some occurrences from our not too distant past have left me horrified to this day- such as the possibly avoidable tragedy of the damage and death trailing behind Katrina, where human error combined with Mother Nature for sheer terror, the unspeakable destructive Tsunamis in Japan and Thailand, scenes and sounds of which I can hardly bear to see or hear. But I do see and hear it all because I am enthralled, fascinated, by weather driven happenings every bit as much as I am captivated by the clouds in our ever-changing sky. No impressive credentials, no list of meaningful letters trailing after my name, this is merely me, just another weather junky having my say about it all.

70% chance of rain showers. Patchy fog during the night. Low in the lower 40s. W winds 5 – 10 mph with gusts to 20.

Had rain during the night so it’s not only gloomy but damp outside. Not going to warm up to anything comfortable today, so it’s a dandy day for staying inside. Looks like more chilly days coming up this week. By Friday, it appears to be dipping into a high of 40. Not my kind of weather.

80% chance of overnight rain showers. Patchy overnight fog. Low in the lower 50s. N W winds around 10 mph.

Today has a feeling of things about to change to it. Jacketless but not for long. The rain will start later today or overnight and will keep on falling for the next 5 or 6 days – along with our temperatures. Mostly a high in the 50s. An occasional 60. Definitely has the feel of October approaching. Today is a dandy day for everyone around here to be scurrying about, tending to outside tasks. If we don’t get them done today – going to be awhile for another chance. So, as for me – I’m off and away to do just that.

Saturday, Sept 26, 2020-SW Michigan-Oh Oh, Jet Stream Getting Ready To Turn Mean

Saturday, Sept 26, 2020-SW Michigan-Oh Oh, Jet Stream Getting Ready To Turn Mean

Currently 65 with an average wind from the SSW of 4 mph. Feels like 65 degrees. Dew Point 59, Barometer 29.84, Humidity 80%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:35 am, Sunset 7:31 pm.

Partly sunny until about midday becoming mostly sunny. High around 80. SW winds 10 -15 mph with gusts to 25.

Partly cloudy. Low in the mid 60s. SW winds 10 -20 mph.

Today and tomorrow will give us comfortable temperatures but by the beginning of the week, and later in the week even more so, the numbers are going to take a tumble. Low pressure systems and the Jet Stream are combining to bring some cold  Canadian air down through the states. Later in the week a deeper dip into the country bringing even colder air down from even farther north.  Just get set, those who like the chillier fall temperatures. Things are going to swing your way. Sooner than I would like :>)

Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020-SW Michigan-A Few Sunny, Warm Days In Store

Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020-SW Michigan-A Few Sunny, Warm Days In Store

Partly cloudy overnight with a low in the mid 50s. S winds around 5 mph.

Today and supposedly the next couple of days should be fantastic. Temperatures reaching hard up toward 80. Then the rains come and puts an end to that. By the time the rain gets finished washing away the pleasantness, the temperatures will be back down into the 50s. Such is life in the world of Mother Nature. She giveith and she takeith away. It’s our job to take advantage of the giving times and enjoy them. We do our best.

It looks, as of now, like we have two or three nice days in store before about a solid week of rain sets in. I don’t think we’re going to like that. A little rain if fine. An excess is just that. I reckon the thing to do is get out and about and appreciate this sunshine while we have it. I know I plan on just that.

Oh yes, calendar aside, Autumn weather is indeed with us. The temperature last night had my furnace on a few times. And it felt great. Sad to think that time of year is with us already. But it is. One lone cloud in the sky and I caught it the other day. We’ve had several lovely all (for the most part) blue skies with plenty of sunshine. Not a lot of warmth, but lots of brightness.

Well, the furnace is on. Probably until next Spring now. Hummingbirds are still here but are feeding heavily. One of these days I won’t be seeing them, I know. I’ll keep the feeder ready for a week or two for any travelers still coming down from the north. But it won’t be long before those are put away until next Spring. In the meantime, here it’s about time to service the car for winter, get things squared away for a new season. Sure wish it was going to be Spring rather than Autumn.
