An unquenchable thirst for knowledge about the weather, an observer of world-wide weather events, and an addicted fan of the Weather Channel on TV. Some occurrences from our not too distant past have left me horrified to this day- such as the possibly avoidable tragedy of the damage and death trailing behind Katrina, where human error combined with Mother Nature for sheer terror, the unspeakable destructive Tsunamis in Japan and Thailand, scenes and sounds of which I can hardly bear to see or hear. But I do see and hear it all because I am enthralled, fascinated, by weather driven happenings every bit as much as I am captivated by the clouds in our ever-changing sky. No impressive credentials, no list of meaningful letters trailing after my name, this is merely me, just another weather junky having my say about it all.

Let’s just look at this miserable cold weekend coming up, and the not so wonderful week trailing along behind it, as winter’s last attempt to make like unpleasant for us. And keep in mind…And This Too Shall Pass. Eventually Mother Nature is going to have to come to grips with the fact that the season of misery has had it’s moment and it’s now time to lighten up, warm up and become friendly. It will happen. Just not this weekend for sure.

Today’s weather? Next week’s weather? Remember what Flower the skunk told Bambi the young  deer? “Mama always told me, if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say nothing at all.” So this is me. Not saying anything at all.

Wednesday, March 23, 2022-SW Michigan-Miserable Weather Coming Our Way

Wednesday, March 23, 2022-SW Michigan-Miserable Weather Coming Our Way

Currently 42 with an average wind from the E of 13 mph. Feels like 35 degrees. Dew Point 41, Humidity 97%, Barometer 29.62 & falling, Visibility 6 mi., Sunrise 7:40 am, Sunset 7:58 pm.

90% chance of light morning rain becoming heavier with thunderstorms possible in the afternoon. High around 50. ESE winds 10-20 mph.

100% chance of overnight rain. Low 41. E winds shift to SSW 10-15 mph.

Nothing pleasant coming our way for the next week. It’s going to be chilly and wet. Not only rain showing up but snow and that miserable wintry mix likely. There simply is nothing good to report – except if we hang in here, and what choice do we have – April will be coming our way eventually and we can only hope it turns into a much better month than March has been. For the most part this has been, and continues to be, not one of those “March Could Be Nice” months I talk about every year. A handful of terrific days does not cancel out the rest of it so this one definitely goes in the not so nice column.

Tuesday, March 22, 2022-SW Michigan-Going To Get Windy And Wet

Tuesday, March 22, 2022-SW Michigan-Going To Get Windy And Wet

Currently 38 with an average wind from the NE of 16 mph. Feels like 29 degrees. Dew Point 31, Humidity 76%, Barometer 30.16, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 7:42 am, Sunset 7:57 pm.

Cloudy morning becoming windy with a 40% chance of afternoon rain. High 48. E winds 20-30 with higher gusts possible.

100% chance of overnight rain. Low 39. E winds 20-30 mph with higher gusts possible.

Well, this month of March is not proving to be particularly wonderful. Looking ahead into next week, I actually see the word snow showing up again. This is, indeed, getting old. We’re currently in for about 3 days of rain in a row and then we can look forward to a bit of sunshine – maybe. But don’t be looking for warmth because none is showing up within the next 10 days. This is not fun.

Monday, March 21, 2022-SW Michigan-Looking At A Rainy Week

Monday, March 21, 2022-SW Michigan-Looking At A Rainy Week

Currently 42 with an average wind from the E of 6 mph. Feels like 40 degrees. Dew point 31, Humidity 67%, Barometer 30.19, Vixibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:44 am, Sunset 7:55 pm.

Mostly cloudy skies today with a 40% chance of rain. High around 60. ESE winds 5-10 mph.

Mostly cloudy. Low around 38. E winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 30.

A small chance of some rain today but a much more likely chance of rain most days this week. Not much sunshine coming at us, lots of rain most likely with some cool temperatures toward the end of the week. Might even dip into the 30s. Not at all what we’re looking for or wanting. But it does seem to be what we’re going to be getting anyway.

Sunday, March 20, 2022-SW Michigan-Foggy Start To First Day Of Spring

Sunday, March 20, 2022-SW Michigan-Foggy Start To First Day Of Spring

Currently 42 with an  average wind from the W of 7 mph. Feels like 37 degrees. Dew Point 35, Humidity 77%, Barometer 30.12 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:49 am, Sunset 7:54 pm.

Sunny today with a high around 55. W winds 10-15 mph.

Clear to partly cloudy overnight. Low 34. SSE winds 5-10 mph.

The day started out super foggy but has turned into a brilliant blue sky, plenty of sunshine day. Going to be a winner today and tomorrow and then back comes the rain and cooler temperatures. Never fear, they will, as all cool temperature must, light up eventually and turn back into something comfortable. We, if nothing else, are used to waiting out Mother Nature until she decides to bring us what we prefer. It’s on the way. So far we’ve been dealt out a day or two at a time, dibs and dabs, just to whet out appetite for the niceness to settle in for longer stretches. Bring it on, we’re more than ready.

Saturday, March 19, 2022-SW Michigan-Bit Of Fog, Some Rain

Saturday, March 19, 2022-SW Michigan-Bit Of Fog, Some Rain

Currently 40 with an average wind from the N of 7 mph. Feels like 36 degrees. Dew Point 39, Humidity 95%, Barometer 29.63, Visibility 1.5 mi., Sunrise 7:47 am, Sunset 7:53 pm.

50% chance of intermittent rain. Snow may mix in – or not. Areas of Fog possible. High 43. NW winds 10-20 mph.

Cloudy then partly cloudy after midnight. Low 30. NW winds 10-15 mph.

Not a very pretty day but it could be worse of course. Woke to see some rain puddles but so far we haven’t gotten a whole lot of rain. Should end up with more by tomorrow morning. And tomorrow should be lovely with plenty of sunshine. At least that’s the plan as of now.

Friday March 18, 2022-SW Michigan-Rainy Time Setting In

Friday March 18, 2022-SW Michigan-Rainy Time Setting In

Currently 42 with an average wind from the NE of 11 mph. Feels like 36 degrees. Dew Point 35, Humidity 75%, Barometer 30.00, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:49 am, Sunset 7:52 pm.

Cloudy with an 80% chance of afternoon rain. High 46. ENE winds 15-25 mph.

100% chance of occasional overnight rain. 1/4″ possible. Low 40. ENE winds 15-25 mph.

No rain yet but a bland sky looking like it’s heading toward that direction. Rain later today and tomorrow. Sunday, so far, is looking fine. Sunshine even. Look for several rainy days about mid week next week. Won’t be super warm but 40 degree days beat what we’ve had so no complaints here. Just means we’re going in the right direction. And weren’t the past 2 days of 60 degrees wonderful? More on the way, just a little later than we’d hope.

Thursday, March 17, 2022-SW Michigan-Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Thursday, March 17, 2022-SW Michigan-Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Currently 47 with an average wind from the SW of 6 mph. Feels like 44 degrees. Dew Point 42, Humidity 83%, Barometer 29.88 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:50 am, Sunset 7:51 pm.

Partly cloudy to overcast today with a high around 65. WSW winds 5-10 mph.

Overcast tonight with a slight chance of rain showers. Low 39. N winds 5-10 mph.

Well, I guess enjoy the warmth today because once again the temperatures are due to fall. Not drastic, but not as comfortable as yesterday, either. Yesterday was lovely. Just what we’d want a March day to be. But this isn’t going to stick, unfortunately. We’re going to be getting some 40 degree days. We’re also going to get some rain and several mentions have been made for some snow to mix in now and then but I hope not. If it does, it won’t last. But this is not what we’re looking for now. Sooner or later those 60 degrees will return and hang around…maybe even warm up. Eventually.

At any rate, have a grand St. Patrick’s Day whatever the weather does or doesn’t do.

Wednesday, March 16, 2022-SW Michigan-No Rain Today, But It’s Coming

Wednesday, March 16, 2022-SW Michigan-No Rain Today, But It’s Coming

Currently 33 with an average wind from the E of 3 mph. Feels like 30 degrees. Dew Point 32, Humidity 97%, Barometer 30.09 & falling, Visibility 1.5 mi., Sunrise 7:52 am, Sunset 7:50 pm.

Areas of patchy fog. Partly cloudy for the most part today. High 63. SSW winds 10-15 mph.

Partly cloudy overnight. Low 47. SSW winds 5-10 mph.

Today should be great. Plenty of sunshine mixed in with the clouds and oh my…60 degrees? Been waiting for awhile for days like this. Looks as if rain will be moving in for Friday and Saturday but for now Sunday is looking good. Maybe some snow in the upper reaches of Michigan with this system set to move through but shouldn’t be any in my little backyard in SW lower Michigan. And it would appear that enough politicians have become as sick as the rest of us with the useless bi-annual time change and are in the mood to settle on one or the other. I don’t care which one-although I do personally prefer the one we just left- just settle and get ‘er done. We’ll see how it goes. One thing we can depend on with our current government – don’t count on anything for sure. Who knows how many will vote one way or the other.
