An unquenchable thirst for knowledge about the weather, an observer of world-wide weather events, and an addicted fan of the Weather Channel on TV. Some occurrences from our not too distant past have left me horrified to this day- such as the possibly avoidable tragedy of the damage and death trailing behind Katrina, where human error combined with Mother Nature for sheer terror, the unspeakable destructive Tsunamis in Japan and Thailand, scenes and sounds of which I can hardly bear to see or hear. But I do see and hear it all because I am enthralled, fascinated, by weather driven happenings every bit as much as I am captivated by the clouds in our ever-changing sky. No impressive credentials, no list of meaningful letters trailing after my name, this is merely me, just another weather junky having my say about it all.

Sunday, July 24, 2022-SW Michigan-A Rainy Sunday Morning

Sunday, July 24, 2022-SW Michigan-A Rainy Sunday Morning

Currently 69 with an average wind from the NE of 4 mph. Feels like 69 degrees. Dew Point 67, Barometer 29.81, Humidity 100%, Visibility 7 mi., Sunrise 6:24 am, Sunset 9:12 pm.

Mostly clear. Low around 60. NW 5-15 mph with gusts to 25 in the evening.

Had some great thunder rolling with wonderful rain last night. Once we get past today, no rain seems to be in our picture until perhaps Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Otherwise, the week is looking pretty good. No extreme temperatures and plenty of sunshine. Should be a winner coming up.

Saturday, July 23, 2022-SW Michigan-Watch Out For Strong Overnight Storms

Saturday, July 23, 2022-SW Michigan-Watch Out For Strong Overnight Storms

Currently 76 with an average wind from the S of 3 mph. Feels like 76 degrees. Dew Point 68, Barometer 29.92, Humidity 82%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:23 am, Sunset 5:13 pm.

Mostly cloudy until about midday then some clearing possible. A 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms. High around 90. SW winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 20. Heat index to 96 degrees.

90% chance of showers and thunderstorms overnight. A low in the low 70s. SW winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 25.

Strong winds aloft that are traveling our way could bring us some severe storms with very strong winds, especially this evening. Be watchful and prepared. Hopefully much of it will swing to the south of us, but don’t count on that. It’s going to be hot and humid today and unless things chance, as of now, it won’t cool off to real comfort overnight. Those potentially damaging winds aren’t going to be blowing away our heat as quick as we’d like.  It will be cooler tomorrow than today, but the rain seems set on holding on and continuing through tomorrow morning.  Just do keep an eye on the sky and developments later today and into tonight.

Friday, July 22, 2022-SW Michigan-Hot With Chance of Weekend Rain

Partly cloudy with a 40% chance of overnight showers and a slight chance of a thunderstorm. Low in the upper 60s. SW winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20 in the evening.

Looks like a warm couple of days and unfortunately for those who have the weekends to be out and about, it looks like a good possibility of some rain. Hopefully it will be mostly overnight on Saturday but keep those umbrellas – or alternate plans – ready just in case.

Tuesday, July 19, 2022-SW Michigan-Going To Be A Warm One

Tuesday, July 19, 2022-SW Michigan-Going To Be A Warm One

Currently 79 with an average wind from the W of 4 mph. Feels like 79 degrees. Dew Point 68, Barometer 29.89, Humidity 66%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:19 am, Sunset 9:16 pm.

Sunny today with a high in the upper 80s. W winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 30 mph.

Partly cloudy overnight with a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Low in the lower 70s. SW winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 30.

Could conceivably get to 90 today. At any rate, 90 or upper 80, it’s going to feel warm. (Could be far worse. Have you seen what London; England is having to endure today? Where A/C is almost unheard of, they are sweltering until 100+ heat) We’re going to stay warm this week but nothing like other places around the globe are stuck in. And we could get a bit of rain later today and overnight. Not a big chance, but some none-the-less. Just enjoy the summer weather. Me? I’ll take this over winter’s brutal cold any time.

Monday, July 18, 2022-SW Michigan-A Wonderful Summer Day

Monday, July 18, 2022-SW Michigan-A Wonderful Summer Day

Currently 74 with an average wind from the WNW of 2 mph. Feels like 74 degrees. Dew Point 63, Barometer 29.85, Humidity 60%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:18 am, Sunset 9:17 pm.

Sunny today with a high in the mid 80s. NW winds around 10 mph becoming SW in the afternoon.

Mostly clear overnight with a low in the upper 60s. SW winds 5-10 mph with gusts to around 20.

This is about a perfect summer day with bright blue skies, plenty of sunshine and relatively low humidity. Doesn’t get much better than this. Looks, as of now, like the rain has been removed from the week picture until – you guessed it – about next Sunday. We’ll see how that goes. Perhaps Sunday will turn out pleasant too. Hope so. In the meantime, enjoy this coming week. Might get a bit warm now and then but nothing like the sweltering states dealing with 100+ temperatures. Consider us blessed.

Sunday, July 17, 2022-SW Michigan-Some Rain Later On Possible

Sunday, July 17, 2022-SW Michigan-Some Rain Later On Possible

Currently 75 with an average wind from the NE of 7 mph. Feels like 75 degrees. Dew Point 68, Barometer 29.88, Humidity 83%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:18 am, Sunset 9:18 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. High in the lower 80s. E winds 5-15 mph.

Mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening becoming partly cloudy. Low in the mid 60s. NE winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20 in the evening.

Difficult to get a handle on this coming week’s weather. One site reporting a chance for rain Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. Another no rain in view until next weekend. Temperatures look to be in the 80s. A couple of days perhaps nearing 90, but still hanging on the 80s the best it can. Sounds like a not-so bad summer week. And give thanks to the Jet Stream that is still keeping us out of the monster hot weather so many other spots in the country are experiencing. Day after day after day. 100-degree misery. We really are fairly lucky here in our little corner of the nation.

Saturday, July 16, 2022-SW Michigan- Rain Seems To Be Gone For Today

Saturday, July 16, 2022-SW Michigan- Rain Seems To Be Gone For Today

Currently 70 with an average wind from the NNE of 4 mph. Feels like 70 degrees. Dew Point 68, Barometer 29.99, Humidity 91%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:17 am, Sunset 9:19 pm.

Mostly cloudy today with a high in the lower 80s. Light winds.

Partly cloudy in the evening becoming mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of overnight rain. Low in the mid 60s. Light winds.

Okay, so the rain previously forecast as a possibility today seems to be missing. Not so for tomorrow. It’s still in the picture. So who knows? And now about mid-week where it was previously forecast to give us some sun and 90 degrees is now forecast for 80s and rain. So again, who knows? Just makes it rather interesting to try and make plans in Michigan, doesn’t it?

Friday, July 15, 2022-SW Michigan-Rain To Develop Later & Through The Weekend

Friday, July 15, 2022-SW Michigan-Rain To Develop Later & Through The Weekend

Currently 74with an average wind from the SE of 4 mph. Feels like 74 degrees. Dew Point 60, Barometer 30.1, Humidity 63%, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:16 am, Sunset 9:19 pm.

Partly sunny until midday then there is a 70% chance of rain showers with a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. High in the upper 70s. S winds 5-15 mph.

Mostly cloudy overnight with a 50% chance of rain showers and thunderstorms. Low in the lower 60s. SE winds around 5 mph.

Looks like the rain is still in the forecast for this weekend. Not a 100% all day thing for either day but the chance for some rain is definitely there. A good thing is that the 90-degree weather that had been in our forecast for next week has currently been removed. For now it’s looking like 80 degree days ahead of us. Maybe some high 80s but still…

Thursday, July 14, 2022-SW Michigan-A Pleasant Summer Day

Thursday, July 14, 2022-SW Michigan-A Pleasant Summer Day

Currently 68 with an average wind from the ENE of 4 mph. Feels like 68 degrees. Dew Point 60, Humidity 72%, Barometer 30.1, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:15 am, Sunset 9:20 pm.

Sunny. High in the lower 80s. Light winds.

Mostly clear with a low in the mid 50s. Light winds.

Should be a couple of wonderful summer days for us but look for some rain to perhaps move in for Saturday and Sunday. Not the best but nothing much we can do about it. We all know how these things go, rain forecast one day, and it vanishes from the picture the next. I’m rather hoping that’s what happens to release the weekend for all the outdoor activities everyone would like to get to. We’ll have to see, but I guess at this point I’d have some indoor plans at the ready just in case.
