An unquenchable thirst for knowledge about the weather, an observer of world-wide weather events, and an addicted fan of the Weather Channel on TV. Some occurrences from our not too distant past have left me horrified to this day- such as the possibly avoidable tragedy of the damage and death trailing behind Katrina, where human error combined with Mother Nature for sheer terror, the unspeakable destructive Tsunamis in Japan and Thailand, scenes and sounds of which I can hardly bear to see or hear. But I do see and hear it all because I am enthralled, fascinated, by weather driven happenings every bit as much as I am captivated by the clouds in our ever-changing sky. No impressive credentials, no list of meaningful letters trailing after my name, this is merely me, just another weather junky having my say about it all.
Wednesday, July 13, 2022-SW Michigan-Some Rain In The Forecast

Wednesday, July 13, 2022-SW Michigan-Some Rain In The Forecast

Currently 66 with a calm wind from the S. Feels like 66 degrees. Dew Point 65, Humidity 87%, Barometer 29.9, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:14 am, Sunset 9:21 pm.

Partly cloudy with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms. High around 80. Light winds becoming N 5-10 in the evening.

Partly cloudy overnight with a low in the mid 50s. NE winds 5-10 mph.

Looking at the forecast now  shows an entirely different picture than we saw yesterday. The possibility of some rain has moved in for the weekend and it does, for now anyway, look as if next week won’t be getting quite as hot as had been predicted. This is what is fascinating about Michigan weather. Blink and it’s changed.

Woke to a lovely rainfall around 4:00 this morning. Didn’t last all that long, but it was welcome and pleasant. Could be a bit more rain today. Although who really knows? Keep tuned…we’ll all find out as it unfolds :>)

Tuesday, July 12, 2022-SW Michigan-Clouds With A Small Chance Of Rain

Tuesday, July 12, 2022-SW Michigan-Clouds With A Small Chance Of Rain

Currently 69 with an average wind from the NW of 8 mph. Feels like 69 degrees. Dew Point 63, Humidity 89%, Barometer 29.75, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 6:13 am, Sunset 9:21 pm.

Partly cloudy with a slight chance of some rain developing. High in the upper 70s. NW winds 10-15 mph with gusts to around 25.

Partly cloudy becoming mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of overnight showers. Low in the upper 60s. W winds 5-10 mph becoming light.

It may not be too breezy down here where we are but when I stepped out to catch a picture of the morning sky, I had to spend some time just watching how fast the clouds were flying by. Fascinating. Up there, where they are, there is some serious wind blowing. Could get some light rain today and tonight. Maybe. But it’s, as usual, a wait and see game.

Our temperatures are set to start rising to about Wednesday next week, where we’ll be coping with 90-degree days again. Right now, it looks to be a lot of them. Another wait and see situation. But get ready for some really warm weather coming up.

Monday, July 11, 2022-SW Michigan-Clouding Up With A Fair Chance For Rain

Monday, July 11, 2022-SW Michigan-Clouding Up With A Fair Chance For Rain

Currently 76 with an average wind from the S of 5 mph. Feels like 76 degrees. Dew Point 63, Humidity 66%, Barometer 29.77, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:13 am, Sunset 9:22 pm.

Becoming mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms developing in the afternoon. High in the mid 80s. SW winds 10-20 mph with gusts to 30 possible.

Mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Low in the mid 60s. W winds 10-15 mph.

I’m really hoping that this chance for rain later today and overnight turn into something real. Doesn’t look like anything in the future cropping up, as of now, anyway. Temperatures this week will remain comfortable but watch out for next week. We could be toying with 90-degree days again. All the more reason for wanting some rain to help keep things from crisping up any sooner than necessary.

Sunday, July 10, 2022-SW Michigan-Another Fabulous Day

Sunday, July 10, 2022-SW Michigan-Another Fabulous Day

Currently 59 with an average wind from the N of 1 mph. Feels like 59 degrees. Dew Point 53, Humidity 66%, Barometer 30.13, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:12 am, Sunset 9:22 pm.

Sunny skies today with a high in the mid 80s. SW winds 56-10 mph.

Partly cloudy tonight with a low in the lower 50s. W winds 5-15 mph.

Just a fantastic summer day for us. And we are SO lucky. Our weather is fairly decent on the whole and when you compare it to lots of sweltering states, we are most fortunate not to be having to deal with 100 degrees day after day. I love the heat but I can’t imagine having to cope with 100 degrees and high humidity as my average day. Our weather for the coming week seems to allow us to enjoy temperatures in the 80s. Still a slight chance of some rain Monday night, other than that, it’s clear sailing right on through to next weekend. Let’s be happy and enjoy it all. Michigan has a lot to offer, not the least is having temperatures that allow us to get out and about even in the middle of a summer day.

Saturday, July 9, 2022-SW Michigan-A Pleasant Weekend Of Weather

Saturday, July 9, 2022-SW Michigan-A Pleasant Weekend Of Weather

Currently 68 with an average wind from the ENE 7 mph. Feels like 68 degrees. Dew Point 54, Humidity 66%, Barometer 30.16, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:11 am, Sunset 9:23 pm.

Sunny with a high around 80. E winds 10-15 mph.

Clear tonight with a low in the lower 50s. E winds 5-10 mph.

As is the wont when it comes to rainfall, going off to the north of south of us, this latest batch slid to the south. Doesn’t look as if we’ll have another opportunity for precipitation until around next Monday night. Fingers crossed. We do need some moisture before everything turns brown and crisp again. This weekend will be more than comfortable. A great couple of days to be out and about.

Friday, July 8, 2022-SW Michigan-A Chance for Afternoon Rain

Friday, July 8, 2022-SW Michigan-A Chance for Afternoon Rain

Currently 74 with an average wind from the ENE of 5 mph. Feels like 74 degrees. Dew Point 68, Humidity 83%, Barometer 30.02, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:10 am, Sunset 9:23 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of showers and a slight chance of an afternoon thunderstorm. High in the lower 80s. E winds 5-15 mph.

Partly cloudy overnight with a temperature in the upper 50s. NE winds 5-15 mph.

We could get a bit of rain this afternoon. Doubt it will last long even if it does arrive.  The weekend looks splendid with comfortable temperatures and plenty of sunshine. As of now, it appears our next chance for rain will come on Monday. How clever of Mother Nature, holding off the precipitation long enough to leave us a wonderful summer weekend. If you get the chance to get out and about, this would be a great weekend for it.

Thursday, July 7, 2022-SW Michigan-Warm Today A Bit Cooler Tomorrow

Thursday, July 7, 2022-SW Michigan-Warm Today A Bit Cooler Tomorrow

Currently 66 with an average wind from the NE of 2 mph. Feels like 66 degrees. Dew Point 62, Humidity 80%, Barometer 30.02, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:10 am, Sunset 9:23 pm.

Mostly sunny today with a high in the mid 80s. Light winds becoming w 10 mph in the evening.

Partly cloudy overnight. Low in the mid 60s. Light winds.

Although the forecast is for mostly sunny today, unless my eyes deceive me, all I’m seeing out there this morning is mostly cloudy. Hopefully there are plans in the works up there to clear everything out and give us plenty of sunshine at some point today. Hope so. As a system is set to slide past us to the south, it gives us a very small chance of some rain tomorrow morning. We’ll be on the very outside edge of it all. Would be good to get a little more rain, but the chance isn’t great. It will, however, be cooler tomorrow – some sight say upper 70s, some lower 80s, but cooler. Looking like a good weekend. Not too hot with lots of sunshine.

Wednesday, July 6, 2022-SW Michigan-Gray Skies, Slight Chance Of Rain

Wednesday, July 6, 2022-SW Michigan-Gray Skies, Slight Chance Of Rain

Currently 70 with an average wind from the NE of 4 mph. Feels like 70 degrees. Dew Point 68, Humidity 100%, Barometer 29.93, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 6:09 am, Sunset 9:24 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of showers until midday. High in the lower 80s. E winds 5-10 mph.

Partly cloudy in the evening becoming mostly cloudy overnight. Low in the lower 60s. E winds 5-10 mph.

Nothing very exciting out there this morning. Clouds. That’s about it. This is a very small chance of some rain this morning and perhaps on Friday. Other than that, the opportunity for any quantity of rain doesn’t seem to be in the picture this coming week. Temperatures will hover in the 80s. As of now, nothing spectacular as far as precipitation or temperature extremes. Just a summery week, looks like. Some sun, some clouds, warm.

Tuesday, July 5, 2022-SW Michigan-Humid With A Slight Chance Of Rain

Tuesday, July 5, 2022-SW Michigan-Humid With A Slight Chance Of Rain

Currently 74 with an average wind from the SSW of 4 mph. Feels like 74 degrees. Dew Point 71%, Humidity 91%, Barometer 29.84, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:08 am, Sunset 9:24 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms. High in the mid 80s. W winds 10-15 mph with gusts to around 20 until about midday.

Partly cloudy becoming mostly cloudy with a 30% chance of some overnight rain. Low in the upper 60s. NW winds 5-10 mph becoming NE.

Did get some rain last night and I didn’t really notice it until one of the loudest of the firework boomers sort of kept rumbling on – and on. After hours of near and far fireworks noises it seemed that Mother Nature was able to put them all to shame. Today is a muggy one and won’t get any better so it would be nice to just go ahead and get some more rain. Right now, doesn’t appear to be a great opportunity for that, but the chance is out there. Along with a possibility of rain tomorrow and on into Thursday morning. Along with a bit cooler temperature.

Monday, July 4th, 2022-SW Michigan-Gonna Be A Hot One Ushering In Overnight Rain

Monday, July 4th, 2022-SW Michigan-Gonna Be A Hot One Ushering In Overnight Rain

Currently 75 with an average wind from the SE of 5 mph. Feels liker 75 degrees. Dew Point 58, Humidity 76%, Barometer 30.11, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 6:09 am, Sunset 9:25 pm.

Sunny until about midday becoming partly sunny. High around 91. SW winds 5-15 mph.

90% chance of overnight rain. Expect some thunderstorms. Low in the upper 60s. SW winds 5-10 mph with gusts to around 20.

An upper-level disturbance will continue to travel across the northern part of the states, and we can expect it to bring us the chance for some thunderstorms tonight and on into tomorrow morning. Some local rain can be heavy. So, Mother Nature could be providing fireworks of her own tonight. Looks as if some rain might be possible again toward the end of the week, but not such a strong possibility as tonight. Going to be a hot one today and this storm system isn’t really going to drop us down drastically, but it will be some cooler tomorrow than today.
