Tuesday, July 3, 2018 South West Michigan – The Heat Is Returning

Tuesday, July 3, 2018 South West Michigan – The Heat Is Returning

Currently 81 with an ESE wind of 9 mph making little difference, but it feels like 82 degrees. Dew Point 66, Barometer 30.17 & rising, Humidity 66%, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:07 am, Sunset 9:25 pm. Sunny with a high near 90 today. SE winds 10 – 15 mph.

Clear to partly cloudy tonight, low near 70. WNW winds 5 – 10 mph.

Today shouldn’t feel dreadful as the humidity should get bad. If that’s the case, the warmth will be welcome.

Was presented with the most marvelous fireworks display last night about midnight. In fact, two of them. I don’t know, perhaps the folks were simply too exuberant to wait a day, or since the possibility of rain is in the picture, they were just determined to get their display into the air while they had the chance, but around midnight, it got pretty loud and colorful here. I loved the show. I’m sure there were some who did not but hey…it’s once a year. What the heck? Enjoy, I say.

Monday, July 2, 2018 South West Michigan – Not So Hot Today

Monday, July 2, 2018 South West Michigan – Not So Hot Today

Currently 68 with a WNW wind of 7 mph making no difference so it feels like 68 degrees. Dew Point 62, Barometer 29.97 & rising, Humidity 81%, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:06 am, Sunset 9:25 pm. Mostly sunny today with a high around 86. WNW winds 5 – 10 mph.

Clear to partly cloudy tonight, low 63. NW winds 5 -10 mph.

A small break in the weather today. Well, still hot, but not dwelling up in the 90s like this past weekend and which sounds as if it will be back tomorrow and Wednesday. So…today is a day to be enjoyed. Won’t shut the A/C off yet, but still…

Sunday, July 1, 2018 South West Michigan – Oppressive Heat Continues

Sunday, July 1, 2018 South West Michigan – Oppressive Heat Continues

Currently 83 with a S wind of 10 mph only adding to the misery so it already feels like 88. Dew Point 72, Barometer 29.91, Humidity 78%, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:06 am, Sunset 9:25 pm. A mix of morning sun and clouds will give way to afternoon cloudiness with the slight chance of a thunderstorm popping up. High 93. SSW winds 15-25.

60% chance of overnight showers and thunderstorms. Some storms could be severe. Low 67. SW winds 10 -20 mph.

The air is full of the hum of active air conditioning units. Not much else. Even the birds are laying low during this excessive heat wave.  For those without A/C or with units not working up to snuff, this is unbearable. How any sleeping is being done in the overnight hours for those folks, I have no idea. Not even industrial size fans can stir enough air to make it feel cooler when it’s this hot. This is truly oppressive heat.

Saturday, June 30, 2018 South West Michigan – Excessive Heat Warning

Saturday, June 30, 2018 South West Michigan – Excessive Heat Warning

Currently 78 with an average wind from the SW just joining the parade so it feels exactly like the humid 78 degrees it is. Dew Point 76, Barometer 29.95 & rising, Humidity 94%, Visibility 6 mi, Sunrise 6:05 am, Sunset 9:25 pm. Partly cloudy to sunny skies today with a high of 96 -97.

Clear to partly cloudy tonight. Warm and humid. Low 76. SSW winds 10 -15 mph.

There is an Excessive Heat Warning in effect through Sunday and a Bad Air Alert for those with breathing problems. This is the climate my friend in Louisiana complains about every summer. Ah ha! Now I understand. Went out to feed the birds and refresh the ground bird bath and it’s already feeling like being wrapped in a hot, wet blanket the minute you step out of the door. I’m now on my way to do the shopping I have to do for tomorrow’s family gathering. I would say before it gets hot, but too late. All I can say is before it gets any hotter. This is going to be a scorcher today.

Friday, June 29, 2018 South West Michigan – Excessive Heat Warning In Effect Until Sunday Night

Friday, June 29, 2018 South West Michigan – Excessive Heat Warning In Effect Until Sunday Night

Currently 83 with a S wind of 12 mph adding to the mix and making it feel like 86 degrees. Dew Point 69, Barometer 29.97 & falling, Humidity 65%, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:05 am, Sunset 9:25 pm. Sunny with a high of 92. SSW winds 10 – 15 mph.

Clear skies tonight. Warm and humid. Low 77. SSW winds 10 -15 mph.

We have an Excessive Heat Warning in effect through Sunday night and truth to be told, the week coming up next looks to be a hot one, too. Saturday will be a misery. I plan to scoot out bright and early to pick up food for our family get together on Sunday…and then won’t step a toe outside until time to leave on Sunday – to a place with a big pool :>)  This is the summer heat the south swelters under so often but not us so much. My heart really does go out to any not having A/C. This is beastly weather coming our way. I’m praying people watch out for their animals. Dangerous for people and pets.

Thursday, June 28, 2018 South West Michigan – Excessive Heat On The Way

Thursday, June 28, 2018 South West Michigan – Excessive Heat On The Way

Currently 68 with a W wind of 6 mph making no difference in the heat index so it feels like the 68 degrees it is. Dew Point 65, Barometer 29.90 & rising, Humidity 91%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 6:04 am, Sunset 9:26 pm. Sunshine galore today with a high of 85. W winds 10 – 15 mph.

Clear to partly cloudy tonight, low 64. SW winds 5 -10 mph.

Today isn’t going to be a bad one, but tomorrow and Saturday? There is an Excessive Heat Watch out in effect through Saturday evening and my heart absolutely goes out to anyone not in possession of a working A/C during these days. Saturday should soar up to an actual temperature of about 96 – so the heat index is going to be horrendous. (I know of several weddings with outdoor activities planned. One a Pig Roast. Going to be memorable if nothing else :>)

Wednesday, June 27, 2018 South West Michigan – Nice Steady Overnight Downpour

Wednesday, June 27, 2018 South West Michigan – Nice Steady Overnight Downpour

Currently 65 with a N wind of 7 mph creating no effect so it feels like 65 degrees. Dew Point 65, Barometer 29.69 & falling, Humidity 100%, Visibility 6 mi., Sunrise 6:04 am, Sunset 9:25 pm. Cloudy with a 30% chance of additional rain. High 75. N winds 5 – 10 mph.

Partly cloudy early will become clear overnight skies. Low around 60. WNW winds 5 -10 mph.

Got about an inch of overnight rain and there is a Flood Alert from 7:00 this m0rning through about 1:30 this afternoon. It was a grand overnight rain – no thunder, lightening, wind, just a straight down rain that was wonderful to listen to – and smell. Nothing like waking up to the sound and smell of a fresh rain. The heat will begin to kick in tomorrow through the weekend with the peak seemingly coming in on Saturday where we will top 90 degrees. Should be an interesting weekend.

Tuesday, June 26, 2018 South West Michigan – Rain Coming, Followed By Heat

Tuesday, June 26, 2018 South West Michigan – Rain Coming, Followed By Heat

On a car I was following yesterday. Seemed appropriate here in Michigan.

Currently 61 with an ESE wind of 10 mph dropping that only one degree to feeling like 60 degrees. Dew Point 57, Barometer 30.09 & falling, Humidity 70%, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:04 am, Sunset 9:26 pm. Partly cloudy with a 40% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. High near 80. SE winds 10 – 15 mph.

90% chance of overnight showers and thunderstorms. Low 67. SE winds 5 – 10 mph.

Well, that meandering Jet Stream is going to scoot up far enough to allow some sweltering southern temperatures into our area by this weekend. We seem to be looking at 90 degrees. I think this fairly comfortable temperatures of today are going to seem like Heaven by about Sunday.

Monday, June 25, 2018 South West Michigan – Partly Cloudy, Not Too Hot

Monday, June 25, 2018 South West Michigan – Partly Cloudy, Not Too Hot

Currently 59 with an ENE wind of 11 mph dropping that to feeling like 58 degrees. Dew Point 54, Barometer 30.19 & rising, Humidity 84%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:03 am, Sunset 9:25 pm. Partly cloudy today with a high of 78. E winds 10 -20 mph.

Partly cloudy tonight, low 53 with an E wind of 10-15 mph.

Cloudy this morning and on the cool side. I think we need to simply appreciate this as the heat appears ready to kick back in by the end of this week perhaps as high as 90 by Friday. Bound to happen, this is summer after all. And it’s hard to believe we’re fast approaching the end of June. My, how time flies by.

Sunday, June 24, 2018 South West Michigan – A Slightly Rainy Sunday

Sunday, June 24, 2018 South West Michigan – A Slightly Rainy Sunday

Currently 64 with a NW wind of 8mph ignoring the situation, so it continues to feel like 64 degrees. Dew Point 63, Humidity 96%, Barometer 29.87 & rising, Visibility 8 mi., Sunrise 6:03 am, Sunset 9:25 pm. Generally cloudy with a 60% chance of rain, mostly in the afternoon. High 72. NNE winds 5 – 10 mph.

A few overnight clouds. Low around 55. ENE winds 5 -10 mph.

A little damp this morning. Had .08″ in the rain gauge and it looks/feels like rain will fall on us at some point fairly soon. All in all, so far not a bad Sunday. Could be worse. Looks to be more rain taking aim at us about Tuesday and Wednesday, after which the heat ramps up well into the upper 80s. So it will be an interesting week coming up.
