Had some pretty dense fog this morning which was a shocker as I’d heard nothing about it. Made some eerie moments with the sun trying hard to shine through it.  It eventually cleared out and we had plenty of sunshine for the rest of the day. A busy, but nice Sunday. The best.

Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017 South West Michigan – Always Watching The Sky

Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017 South West Michigan – Always Watching The Sky

Currently 41 degrees with a S wind of 2.4 mph dropping that a bit to feeling like 38. Dew Point 33, Barometer 30.13, Humidity 73%, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:54 pm, Sunset 5:01 pm.  Partly sunny then clearing in the afternoon. High around 50. SW winds 5 – 10 mph.

Partly cloudy with a low around 30. Light winds.

Yesterday I happened to look up just in time to see this cloud formation that looks like a space craft. Fascinating. Snapped the picture and only seconds later, the sky had changed and the ‘space craft’ had flown off and away.

Wish I could do the kid thing again, lay out on the grass and watch the clouds turn into pictures. You did that, right? “There’s a rabbit!”  “I see a lion.”  First of all, right now the ground is too cold to even consider doing that and secondly, my knees are going to refuse to play that game. Alas.

But in the meantime, remaining upright, I keep my eyes turned upward as often as possible to see what I might see. And am rewarded for doing so. Nature continues to provide entertainment. Yesterday a space ship. Tomorrow…who knows?

Friday, Dec. 1, 2017 South West Michigan – Lots Of Sunshine To Start The Month

Friday, Dec. 1, 2017 South West Michigan – Lots Of Sunshine To Start The Month

Currently 39 degrees with a WSW wind of only 0.7 mph making no difference so it feels like 39. Dew Point 34, Barometer 30.24, Humidity 82%, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:53 am, Sunset 5:08 pm. Mostly sunny with a high in tyhe upper 40s. Light winds becoming SW  5 -10 mph.

Partly cloudy becoming mostly cloudy overnight. Low in the lower 30s. S winds around 5 mph.

A wonderful start to the month. No solid bets as to how it will end, but my guess is a whole lot colder and snowier. Not my wish, only my guess. With the jet stream racing across the ocean ready to slam into what we have over the states, it will change soon enough. And looking ahead to what will probably happen, my state seems to be set right smack in the middle of one of those dread dips in the jet stream allowing cold air to pour down on us. Oh joy :<(

Another nice day to close off the month of November. Warmer and dryer than usual, which has been pleasant to say the least. Had .03″ of rain during last night, which is more than we’ve had in some time. No complaints here.

Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017 South West Michigan – Sunny and Comfortable

Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017 South West Michigan – Sunny and Comfortable

Temperature 37 with an average NE wind of 5.7 dropping that to feeling like 34. Dew Point 27, Barometer 30.34, Humidity 68%, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:51 am, Sunset 5:08 pm. Sunny with a high in the lower 40s. N winds 5 -1 0 mph becoming E in the afternoon.

Mostly clear becoming mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of rain, possibly mixed with a little snow. Low around 30. SE winds 5 – 10 mph becoming S overnight.

Peering ahead, this week continues to be well above the norm for our temperatures will no precipitation to speak of. Off in the distance, the jet stream seems posed to swoop around in the states and change that so it could well be cold by the end of next week. But hey – that’s a week away and I’m happy about that. Once that cold sets in, bringing the expected snow along with it, that will be the end of this fantastic weather. For now, nice. Just plain nice.

Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017 South West Michigan – Record Temperatures Continue

Currently 53 with a SSW wind of 8.1 mph making no difference, so it feels like 53. Dew Point 35, Barometer 29.88, Humidity 45%, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:50 am, Sunset 5:09 pm. Partly sunny until midday then changing to a 40% chance of afternoon rain. High in the lower 50s. SW winds 10 – 20 mph.

The warmth continues here with great appreciation from most. A few very chilly nights leaving us with early morning frost on everything, which was pretty. But the daytime temperatures are well into the comfort range for this time of year. And beyond. This is not our usual end of November.

Monday, Nov. 27, 2017 Southwest Michigan – Temperatures Steady Nearing End Of November

Monday, Nov. 27, 2017 Southwest Michigan – Temperatures Steady Nearing End Of November

Currently 37 with an E wind of 5.3 mph changing that to feeling like 32. Dew Point 34, Barometer 30.12, Humidity 89%, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:49 am, Sunset 5:09 pm. Sunny with a high around 50. SE winds around 10 mph.

Mostly clear tonight with a low in the lower 40s. S winds 5 – 15 mph becoming SW 15 – 20 mph.

Hard to believe we’re nearing the end of November and the daytime temperatures are still hovering around in the 40s and nearing 50. I’m loving this.

Just watched a segment regarding some doctors finally wising up and NOT prescribing chemicals to people, but writing out scripts for getting their behinds out of the house, away from the screens they’re glued to, and into some nature. And that goes for adults and children. It seems to work for depression, anxiety, high blood pressure…lots of ailments. I am thrilled with this. People take way too many meds as it is and so many doctors are just fine with prescribing even more. So – off with you! Get yourself outside and heal yourself with nature. Gotta love that !

Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017 South West Michigan – Frosty Nights, Warmer Days

Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017 South West Michigan – Frosty Nights, Warmer Days

Currently 33 with a SSW wind of 2.4 mph dropping that to feeling like 29. Dew Point 27, Barometer 30.16, Humidity 77%, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:48 am, Sunset 5:10 pm. Sunny today with a high in the lower 40s. SW winds around 10 mph increasing to 15 with gusts to 25.

Partly cloudy with patchy overnight for. Low lower 30s. W winds 5 – 10 mph becoming light.

Woke to find frost all over my car windows this morning. I remember being a kid and waking to find frost all over the windows of my house.

Windows, as well as the heating in houses, used to be a whale of a different thing way back then. So the fun I had of scratching pictures in the frost – after trying to see what artistry Jack Frost had already provided on the glass – was offset by having to dash down to the stove to get warm after rushing out of bed and in to cold clothes waiting to be put on.

Yeah…today’s frost might be the same, but the surfaces it’s painted on? Big difference. Huge

Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017 South West Michigan – Time of Wildly Fluctuating Temperatures

Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017 South West Michigan – Time of Wildly Fluctuating Temperatures

Temperature 42 with a WNW wind of 9.6 mph dragging that down to feeling like 38. Dew Point 35, Barometer 29.82, Humidity 77%, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:46 am, Sunset 5:10 pm. Mostly cloudy with a 30% chance of rain showers. High mid 40s. NW winds 10 – 15 mph with gusts to 25.

Partly cloudy. Low in the upper 20s. NW winds 5 – 15 mph becoming light.

Hard to imagine but yesterday the temperature got all the way up to 60 degrees. The end of November? Yup! It did. Today not so lucky. But it was grand to see people out on the golf courses and on the bike trails enjoying that amazing warmth.

So, maybe we won’t be reaching that high again, but looking ahead for the next week, the temperatures seem to be hovering in the 40s and 50s. We will absolutely take that! When the bottom falls out, it will feel miserable, so loving this for as long as it lasts.

Friday, Nov. 24, 2017 South West Michigan – Moderate Temps Continue

Friday, Nov. 24, 2017 South West Michigan – Moderate Temps Continue

Currently 39 with a S wind of 5.7 mph dropping that down to feeling like 36. Dew Point 31, Humidity 72%, Barometer 29.73, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:45 am, Sunset 5:11 pm. Mostly sunny today with a high in the mid 50s. S winds 10 – 20 mph with occasional higher gusts.

Mostly cloudy tonight with a 30% chance of overnight drizzle. Low upper 30s. SW winds 15 – 20 mph becoming NW 10 – 15 mph.

Hard to believe this pleasant weather that continues in our area. Just watched pictures of the massive amounts of sea foam blowing along the coast in England, the blistering, record heat in LA, rivers flooding and threatening homes, the avalanches in Alaska, the….so much going on all over the planet while here, it’s blessedly calm and quiet. And I’m so grateful for that.

A nice Thanksgiving gone by but giving thanks continues.
