Well, just when you think this outrageous month of April can’t get any worse – surprise. We have a Winter Weather Watch in effect from 5am Saturday through 12pm Sunday. Significant icing is possible and we need to be aware there could be power outages. Really? Mid-April? Yes. This is one rotten Spring and it continues to be even more rotten. Winter Storm Xanto is making it’s way across the upper regions of the states and laying down record amounts of snow. We seem to be heading into the icy part of it. I guess we won’t know until about next Tuesday exactly how much sharing the Winter Storm did with us. How ever much is too much. Everyone is good and sick of winter this spring.

And the south is ramping up with deadly tornado weather threatening that area. Where, oh where, is the gentle season of Spring?

Thursday, April 12, 2018 South West Michigan – Wind, Sun, Clouds, Overnight Rain.

Thursday, April 12, 2018 South West Michigan – Wind, Sun, Clouds, Overnight Rain.

Currently 52 with an average SSW wind of 14 mph dragging that down to feeling like 44. Dew Point 44, Humidity 75%, Barometer 29.58 & falling, Sunrise 7:05 am, Sunset 8:21 pm. Windy today with a mix of sun and clouds. High 59. W winds 20 – 30 mph.

Partly cloudy to cloudy with a 90% chance of overnight rain. Low 38. NE winds 10 -20 mph.

Today won’t be a bad day, in fact we should see some sunshine off and on. After that…nothing but rain for days until we get to Monday where Mother Nature is going to toss in a chance of some snowflakes. Swell. Oh well…going to enjoy the heck out of today and plan on plenty of indoor chores for the next several days. Nothing else for it, I guess. But this is about middle of April and it’s high time for this nonsense to cease and winter to exit, stage left. Totally and finally.

Wednesday, April 11, 2018 South West Michigan – Some Rain, Maybe A Peek At The Sun

Wednesday, April 11, 2018 South West Michigan – Some Rain, Maybe A Peek At The Sun

Currently 38 with a SSW wind of 13 mph dropping that down to feeling like 29. Dew Point 32, Humidity 79%, Barometer 29.98 & falling, Visibility 9 mi, Sunrise 7:06 am, Sunset 8:19 pm. A shower or wet snow possibility early, then a bit of afternoon clearing. High 52. W winds 10 – 20 mph.

100% chance of overnight rain. Low 42. SE winds 10 – 15 mph.

Okay, so we have some rain coming but honest to Pete, there is chatter about more snow/freezing rain/frozen mix garbage appearing off and on way past about next Wednesday. This has become totally insane. The worst month of March and now the worst month of April? How is this possible that we are going to be totally cheated out of Spring this year?

Tuesday, April 10, 2018 South West Michigan – A Bit Of Sun This Morning

Tuesday, April 10, 2018 South West Michigan – A Bit Of Sun This Morning

Currently 35 with a WSW wind of 9 mph making that feel like 28 degrees. Dew Point 28, Humidity 75%, Barometer 30.26 & rising, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:08 am, Sunset 8:18 pm. Sunny to partly cloudy, high 43, WSW winds 10 -20 mph.

Partly cloudy to mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of rain/snow overnight. Low 30. SW winds 10 – 15mph.

Yesterday brought a find little hail storm. Lasted about 5 minutes here with the pea-sized hail falling straight down like a curtain made of tiny white beads. Interesting. Not particularly wanted, considering this is mid-April, but interesting.

There are a few trees trying hard to send out buds. Not many for this time of the year, but a few. And those are much appreciated. Gives hope that Spring will eventually arrive. Eventually.

Monday, April 9, 2018 South West Michigan – Miserable Winter Weather Continues

Monday, April 9, 2018 South West Michigan – Miserable Winter Weather Continues

Currently 31 with an E wind of 1 mph leaving that alone to feeling like 31 degrees. Dew Point 25, Humidity 76%, Barometer 30.19 & rising, Visibility 4 mi, Sunrise 7:10 am, Sunset 8:17 pm. 70% chance of snow. High 39. W winds 5 – 10 mph.

Clouds with a chance of snow flurries overnight. Low 24. WNW winds 5 – 10 mph.

There is still not one single thing to say in praise of this current April weather. Nothing. It’s cold, right now spitting more snow. Nothing is growing – except perhaps anger at Mother Nature, which will produce nothing but unhappiness, so that is rather futile.  I would like to keep saying that sooner or later this too shall pass and warm weather will descend on us. I would like to say that, but frankly I’m running out of optimism.

Sunday, April 8, 2018 South West Michigan – Still Wearing Winter Coat Out To Breakfast

Sunday, April 8, 2018 South West Michigan – Still Wearing Winter Coat Out To Breakfast

Currently 19 with a NNE wind of 4 mph making it feel like 13 degrees. Dew Point 16, Humidity 88%, Barometer 30.13 & rising, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:11, Sunset 8:16 pm. Sunny to partly cloudy today. High near 40. Light and variable winds.

Cloudy with a few snow flurries overnight. Low 27. Light and variable winds.

I’m telling you, it’s a tad tiresome having to put on a winter coat yet in the beginning of April to go out to Sunday breakfast. By now, the winter wardrobe and winter coats should have been moved to the back of the closet with lighter stuff brought to the fore. But no. Not this year. I’ve even slipped in to boots many mornings lately to take the bird and critter food out to the back fence for morning feedings. This is beyond silly. And there is snow in the forecast for tomorrow!!!

Saturday, April 7, 2018 South West Michigan – A Peek At Morning Sun

Saturday, April 7, 2018 South West Michigan – A Peek At Morning Sun

Currently 24 with a W wind of 8 mph dropping that to feeling like 15. Dew Point 11, Humidity 58%, Barometer 30.13 & rising, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:13 am, Sunset 8:15 pm. A mix of sun and clouds in the morning becoming cloudy in the afternoon. High 30. WNW winds 10 -20 mph.

Cloudy with a chance of snow showers overnight. Low 20. W winds 10 – 20 mph.

Our unseasonable weather continues as it does for so much of the nation. That hideous swoop of cold air coming down from the too-generous north insists on an extended stay, holding our Spring at bay. Nasty cold air!  No big relief in sight so we continue to bundle up and wear our winter colds – in APRIL.

Friday, April 6, 2018 South West Michigan – Cloudy, Cold, Snow Flurries

Friday, April 6, 2018 South West Michigan – Cloudy, Cold, Snow Flurries

Currently 34 with an average wind from the W of 16 mph making that feel like 24 degrees. Dew Point 27, Humidity 75%, Barometer 29.78 & rising, Visibility 9 mi, Sunrise 7:15 am, Sunset 8:14 pm. Windy with a 40% chance of snow showers. Temperatures in the low to mid 30s. WNW winds 20 – 30 mph with higher gusts possible.

Cloudy tonight with snow showers possible. Low 18 freaking degrees. NW winds 10 -20 mph decreasing to 5 – 10 mph.

The weather continues to be insane. There is absolutely nothing to like about this nonsense. Nothing. Tonight is going to be ridiculous cold. If this ever ends and actual Spring weather strolls into the picture, everyone is going to be crazy with joy. And that’s a big IF.

Thursday, April 5, 2018 South West Michigan – Yet Another Winter Advisory

Thursday, April 5, 2018 South West Michigan – Yet Another Winter Advisory

Currently 28 with an average wind of 8mph from the West dropping that to feeling like 20. Dew Point 16, Humidity 61%, Barometer 30.20 & rising, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:17am, Sunset 8:13 pm. Partly cloudy with a high of 38. W winds 10 -20 mph.

Partly cloudy to cloudy with a 90% chance of snow. Low 29. SSW winds 10 – 15 mph.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from this evening through 11am tomorrow. This is really getting old. And tiresome. We should be seeing tree buds and flowers trying to peek up out of the ground. Instead we’re still seeing the tree limbs decorated with snow and the ground littered with the same stuff. A truly lousy spring. And that’s all I have to say about that.

Wednesday, April 4, 2018 South West Michigan – Winter Hanging On

Currently 27 with a WNW wind of 19 mph dragging that down to feeling like 14 degrees. Dew Point 24, Humidity 89%, Barometer 29.75 & rising, Visibility 4 mi, Sunrise 7:18 am, Sunset 8:11 pm. Windy with a 60% chance of snow. High 31. WNW wind 25-35 mph with gusts to 40.

Partly cloudy tonight with a 30% chance of snow flurries. Low 22. WNW winds 10 – 20 mph.

This weather is now making everyone just flat out mad! This is the first week of April and it’s worse – much worse – than the weather we had in February.  Got 2″ of snow overnight with more likely today.  And snow is in the forecast again next Monday. Absolutely infuriating!
