Thursday, May 3, 2018 South West Michigan – Rainy Day and Night Ahead

Currently 62 with an average N wind of 5 mph leaving that alone to feel like 62 degrees. Dew Point 59, Humidity 92%, Barometer 29.85 & falling, Visibility 6 mi, Sunrise 6:32 am, Sunset 8:45 pm. Cloudy with a 100% chance of rain. High 70. SE winds 5 -10 mph.

100% chance of overnight rain. Thunderstorms are possible. Low 58. SSE winds 10 -20 mph.

A nice rainy day and I love that. I save up indoor chores for such days – usually sorting and getting rid of stuff. So this promises to be a good day for getting rid of more paperwork, etc. Nothing severe in our area but that could change at any time I suppose. Something to keep an eye on as I’m working away. And I shall.

Wednesday, May 2, 2018 South West Michigan – Gloomy, Chance of Rain

Wednesday, May 2, 2018 South West Michigan – Gloomy, Chance of Rain

Currently 69 with an average SW winds of 3 mph making no difference so it feels like 69 degrees. Dew Point 50, Humidity 50%, Barometer 29.87, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:34 am, Sunset 8:44 pm. Cloudy with the chance of a possible shower or thunderstorm. High 75. SW winds 15 – 25 mph.

80% chance of overnight thunderstorms. Low 59. SW winds 10 – 20 mph.

Feels like rain. Looks like rain. No rain so far. Might not arrive today, but tonight sounds like a sure bet. I guess we can use it because that high wind from yesterday dried things out fairly well. All sorts of highs and lows, dry lines and wet ones colliding off to the West and the Weather Channel has been talking about possible severe weather out in that direction for days. Nothing here that I can see coming at us but things can always change.

Tuesday, May 1, 2018 South West Michigan – Sunny and Windy

Currently 70 with a SW wind of 15 mph making no difference and leaving it to feeling like 70 degrees. Wasn’t long ago we were hoping for a high of 62 degrees and that is supposed to be our low tonight. Amazing. And fingers crossed that no tiny brains will decide to burn leaves or anything today with the winds we’re expecting. High fire danger all day today. My how things can change in a matter of a week or two.

Monday, April 30, 2018 South West Michigan – Warming Up This Week

Monday, April 30, 2018 South West Michigan – Warming Up This Week

Currently 52 with a SSW winds of 10 mph dropping that to feeling like 49 degrees. Dew Point 19, Humidity 26%, Barometer 30.23 & falling, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:36 am, Sunset 8:42 pm. Sunny with a high of 69. SW winds 10 – 20 mph.

Partly cloudy tonight with a low of 51. SSW winds 10 -15 mph.

My goodness. Looking at a couple of 70 degree days this week. Certainly sounds better than what we’ve been dealing with. Looking forward to the warmth. Appears to be some instability in the air currents in the middle of the country which could result in some unhappy weather, but so far it doesn’t look as if it’s going to spread this far. We’ll have to wait and see.

Sunday, April 29, 2018 South West Michigan – Sunny And Hopefully Getting Warmer

Sunday, April 29, 2018 South West Michigan – Sunny And Hopefully Getting Warmer

Currently 43 with a N wind of 3 mph leaving that alone to feel like 43. Dew Point 18, Humidity 36%, Barometer 30.37 & rising, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:38 am, Sunset 8:40 pm. Sunny with a high of 58. WNW winds 10 – 15 mph.

Clear overnight skies with a low of 34. SW winds 10 -15 mph.

There was ice in the bird bath this morning and hopefully that will be the end of that for the season. We’ve had enough of the cold temperatures. It does look as if the month of May coming up will be closer to what it should be than April ever was this year. Fingers crossed, anyway.

Saturday, April 28, 2018 South West Michigan – Sunny But Chilly

Saturday, April 28, 2018 South West Michigan – Sunny But Chilly

Currently 41 degrees with a NNW wind of 15 mph dragging that down to feeling like 37. Dew Point 23, Humidity 45%, Barometer 30.04 & rising, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:39am, Sunset 8:39pm. Lots of sunshine today. High 52. NNW winds 10 – 20 mph.

Clear skies and very cold tonight with a low of 27. NNW winds 10 – 20 mph.

Man, we just can’t seem to shake this cold weather. Tonight is going to be miserable.  I’d like to say this is the end of it but I dare not even try to do that. The way this spring is going? Going to hope for it, but that’s about as good as it can get.

I put up my Hummingbird feeders early this year as there is virtually nothing out there for them to feed on and Hummers have been spotted in Michigan already. I do hope everyone follows suit ’cause those little bundle of feathers need all the help they can get during a spring such as this.

Friday, April 27, 2018 South West Michigan – Clouds, Perhaps A Shower

Friday, April 27, 2018 South West Michigan – Clouds, Perhaps A Shower

Currently 47 degrees with an average N wind of 9mph dropping that to feeling like 43. Dew Point 32, Humidity 57%, Barometer 29.77, Visibility 7 mi, Sunrise 6:41 am, Sunset 8:38pm. Cloudy with a slight chance of a rain shower. Chance of a peek at the sun off and on later. High 59. NNW winds 10 – 15 mph.

A chance of early showers. Low 33. NNW winds 10 -15 mph.

The temperature is set to cool off a bit again today, tomorrow – one forecaster had the audacity to mention the slight chance of a flurry tomorrow, but I choose not to hear that. Sunday should be back into the 50 degree range, so this is just a little dip in the warmth. We can live with that…but not a flurry of any sort from now on. Mother Nature simply has to behave.

Thursday, April 26, 2018 South West Michigan – Sun With Occasional Clouds

Thursday, April 26, 2018 South West Michigan – Sun With Occasional Clouds

Currently 45 with a W wind of 3 mph leaving it alone to feel like 45 degrees. Dew Point 32, Humidity 62%, Barometer 29.95 & falling, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:42 am, Sunset 8:37 pm. Partly cloudy with a High of 61. W winds 10 – 15 mph.

Partly cloudy tonight with a 50% chance of occasional showers. Low 40. WSW winds 5 – 10 mph.

Trees are beginning to pop out with some buds now. Not all of them by any means. A very late Spring for us.

Planning on putting the Hummingbird Feeder out a bit early this year. There is a report that  a Ruby Throat has been spotted in Kalamazoo already. This year, especially, they will need help. There is precious little blooming in Michigan this dreadful Spring to help the exhausted little bundles of feathers feed on. I don’t mind emptying and refilling a feeder that hasn’t been approached until they do get here rather than miss having something out there for them to feed on should they get up this far.

Wednesday, 2018 South West Michigan – A Sunny Day For Us

Wednesday, 2018 South West Michigan – A Sunny Day For Us

Currently 43 with an average NNW wind of 11 mph dropping that to feeling like 37 degrees. Dew Point 33, Humidity 67%, Barometer 30.47 & rising, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:44 am, Sunset 8:36pm. Sunny today with a high of 58. N wind 10 – 20 mph.

Clear skies tonight, Low 32, NNW winds 10 – 15 mph.

A wonderful high pressure system is resting overhead giving us the opportunity for a fine week coming up. In fact, at the moment it’s not until a week from now that we see any chance of rain coming our way. It won’t get overly warm, but temperatures in the 50s and 60s with all the sunshine should help bring out some buds and flowers to help brighten our world. Looking forward to that.

Tuesday, April 24, 2018 South West Michigan – A Little Light Rain

Tuesday, April 24, 2018 South West Michigan – A Little Light Rain

Currently 55 with an ESE wind of 9mph dropping that to feeling like 53 degrees. Dew Point 47, Humidity 74%, Barometer 30.09 & falling, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:45 am, Sunset 8:35 pm. 60% chance of occasional rain showers. High 59. ENE winds 5 – 10 mph.

70% chance of light rain showers. Low 38. NNE winds 10 – 15 mph.

A rather damp morning but the temperature is decent. Light jacket weather, but still so much better than we’ve been dealing with that nobody is going to complain. Drove by the dam in Rockford this morning on the way to breakfast and I see anglers out in the cold water so must be the salmon are running. I know I’ll never be one of them, but I do enjoy watching them out there.

Not a bad week ahead with only a few chances for rain. A few green buds are beginning to appear. Not many, but some. Finally Spring is ours.
