Thursday, July 20, 2023-SW Michigan-Almost Clear Morning Skies, Storms Later On
Currently 72 with an average wind from the SSE of 2 mph. Feels like 72 degrees. Dew Point 63, Barometer 29.78, Humidity 66%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:20 am, Sunset 9;16 pm.
Mostly sunny morning developing into a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms. High around 80, SW winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 25 becoming W 10-20 mph with gusts to 35 in the afternoon.
Partly cloudy overnight with a low in the upper 50s. NW winds 5-15 mph.
A lovely almost pure blue sky this morning. Occasional tiny white clouds wandering around. Don’t be deceived by this. It looks as if the possibility of severe storms will be moving in later this afternoon. It may be that, as so often has happened, we could be on the upper outside line of these storms. We could miss out on much or all of the severity this line of storms holds. I wouldn’t count on it 100% because we all know how things can change very quickly. Just be prepared for some rain and the possibility of storms just in case.
And be aware that the high heat dome covering much of the country to the SW and S of us is going to expand next week and our state will likely be suffering from some uncomfortable temperatures before we know it. We’ve pretty much lucked out so far, but our luck may be running out with this one. Once again, just be prepared should we be included in the higher numbers. I doubt we’ll even come close to being as hot as it has been in the SW and the S, but it could get mighty warm anyway. We’ll just have to wait and see.
