Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023-SW Michigan-Glorious Sunshine Today

Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023-SW Michigan-Glorious Sunshine Today

Currently 28 with an average wind from the S of 3 mph. Feels like 18. Dew Point 26, Barometer 30.04, Humidity 84%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:36 am, Sunset 6:17 pm.

Mostly sunny with a high in the upper 30s. SW winds 10-20 mph with gusts to around 30.

Partly cloudy becoming mostly cloudy overnight. Low around 30. S winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 25.

A beautiful day, chilly but bright. Look for another nice day tomorrow, but next week isn’t looking entirely wonderful.  Right now it’s around Wednesday, Thursday and perhaps next Saturday but we all know how this miserable stuff can shift around. Word is to expect that ugly freezing rain stuff coming our way. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that won’t happen. For now just enjoy the weekend and today’s sunshine.

Friday, Feb. 17, 2023-SW Michigan-Winter Storm Left Us A Mess

Friday, Feb. 17, 2023-SW Michigan-Winter Storm Left Us A Mess

Currently 19 with an average wind from the NW of 9 mph. Feels like 14 degrees. Dew Point 11, Barometer 30.05, Humidity 73%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 7:37 am, Sunset 6:16 pm.

20% chance of morning snow showers. Partly sunny skies after noon with a high near 17. N winds 10-14 mph.

Partly cloudy overnight with a low around 19. SW winds 8-18 mph with gusts as high as 28.

I measured 5″ of snow in my backyard, but that number is deceptive. Because so much of it fell as something close to ice mixed in with the snow, it’s a heavy layer of winter left for us this morning. Shoveling is not a happy event when the snow is like this. It’s the kind that ends up with back aches. Should see some sunshine tomorrow. Not talking about any great warmth to go with it, but at least it will be bright. Look for some snow showers again about mid-week coming up but for now it doesn’t look like anything harsh.

Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023-SW Michigan-Snow On The Way

Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023-SW Michigan-Snow On The Way

Currently 30 with an average wind from the E of 10 mph. Feels like 23 degrees. Dew Point 28, Barometer 29.9, Humidity 97%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:38 am, Sunset 6:34 pm.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7:00 am Friday.

100% chance of snow possibly mixed with some sleet in the afternoon. 1-4″ likely. High in the lower 30s. NE winds 10-20 mph with gfusts to 30.

90% chance of snow possibly mixed with some freezing rain in the evening then snow overnight. 1-3″ likely. Low 15-20. N winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 30.

This is a tough one to call as far as precipitation. All the wintry variety seems to be involved at some point. Looking at the national maps, there is a huge amount of whatever coming our way. Should it all turn out to be snow, we could end up with a goodly amount. Trouble is, our temperature is going to be right in that range that makes anything possible. Lots of snow, sleet, freezing rain…all of those miseries mentioned in our forecast. I think the bottom line is be careful if you must be out and about later today or tonight. The roads will probably not be pleasant to drive on. My hope is that it all blows through overnight and leaves us with some sunshine tomorrow as a reward for making it to the finish line. For sure we are going to get a mess of winter, just not 100% sure what variation. Be prepared and stay safe. Winte Storm Nova will definitely be paying us a visit.

Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2023-SW Michigan-Very Windy With Morning Rain

Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2023-SW Michigan-Very Windy With Morning Rain

Currently 46 degrees with an average wind from the S of 12 mph. Feels like 37 degrees. Dew Point43, Barometer 29.44, Humidity 92%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 7:40 am, Sunset 6:13 pm.

Cloudy and windy with a 50% chance of rain until about midday. High around 50. SW winds 20-30 mph with gusts to 50 mph.

Cloudy with a low in the upper 20s. W winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 30 becoming N 5-10 mph overnight.

What a blustery, wet little morning this is. Right now the temperature is about 5 degrees less than what I go up, so I suspect we’ve seen our high early on. Can hear the wind roaring around in the upper tree regions.  Down here on ground level it’s rather brisk, too. Be prepared for some very strong gusts of wind today as Winter Storm Nora blows on in for a visit. Today, nothing but rain. Tomorrow is another story. As of right now, we’re expecting rain, freezing rain, sleet, snow…just the usual winter suspects. I think the snow will win out and we could end up with 4 or 5″ of it by Friday morning. Maybe more. But who knows? That’s just my guess as of this minute.

Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023-SW Michigan-Get Ready For Some High Winds

Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023-SW Michigan-Get Ready For Some High Winds

Currently 37 with an average wind from the SE of 6 mph. Feels like 32 degrees. Dew Point 29, Barometer 29.79, Humidity 67%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:41 am, Sunset 6:12 pm.

Windy with a 90% chance of rain. Low in the mid 40s. SE winds 20-30 mph becoming S 25-35 with gusts to 50.

Going to be some interesting weather. Enjoy the morning sunshine but start to batten down the hatches for some expected wind coming in later and through tomorrow.  And Thursday could be a mess. Rain, freezing rain, snow? Hard to tell right now, just know it will probably be a dandy day to stay inside.  Oh, and Happy Valentine’s Day. Or as so many people choose to tell it Happy Valentine’s Day Candy On Sale For 70% Off Eve.

Monday, Feb. 13, 2023-SW Michigan-Couple More Days Of Sunshine

Monday, Feb. 13, 2023-SW Michigan-Couple More Days Of Sunshine

Currently 36 with an average wind from the SW of 4 mph. Feels like 28 degrees. Dew Point 33, Barometer 29.58, Humidity 87%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:43 am, Sunset 6:10 pm.

Sunny with a high in the lower 40s. W winds 15-20 with gusts to 30.

Mostly clear with a low around 30. SW winds 5-10 becoming S overnight.

Just last week it looked like the middle of this week would be warm with plenty of rain. And we were happy about the warm ’cause that was going to keep the snow connected to the oncoming system nothing but rain. Now? Not so sure of that. Currently it looks as if Thursday could have our temperatures low enough to make snow a probability.  Look for plenty of wind on Wednesday as it ushers in whatever we’ll be looking at on Thursday. A wait and see week. In the meantime, enjoy the sunshine today and tomorrow.

Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023-SW Michigan-Another Sunny Day For Us

Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023-SW Michigan-Another Sunny Day For Us

Currently 29 with an average wind from the SSW of 5 mph. Feels like 24 degrees. Dew Point 26, Barometer 30.07, Humidity 87%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:44 am, Sunst 6:09 pm.

Sunny today with a high in the mid 40s. SW winds 10-15 mph.

Mostly clear becoming mostly cloudy overnight. Low in the upper 20s. SW winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20.

Enjoy today – and maybe tomorrow – cause it looks like the rest of the week is going to be a wet one. Nothing but rain on the agenda until Friday and that’s still mentioning a bit of snow. Whatever we get, it won’t be sunshine. Today would be a dandy day to just be out and about and enjoying the brightness.

Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023-SW Michigan-Sunshine Weekend For Us

Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023-SW Michigan-Sunshine Weekend For Us

Currently 25 with an average wind from the SSE of 3 mph. Feels like 18 degrees. Dew Point 24, Barometer 30.23, Humidity 85%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:45 am, Sunset 6:08 pm.

Sunny with a high in the upper 30s. SW winds 10-15 mph increasing to 15-25 with gusts to 35 in the afternoon.

Clear with a low in the mid 20s. SW winds 15-20 with gusts to 30 becoming 5-15 overnight.

We could see a high of 50 degrees about midweek. And we’d better hope that’s what we do get. There is a pretty big storm system making its way toward us and as of now, from that system, we’ll only be getting rain, maybe a dab of snow sometime Friday. However, if our temperatures were to drop into the lower 30s, we could possibly end up with a whole mess of snow. Right now looks like it’s warmth and rain for us.  Sounds like a much better scenario to me.

Friday, Feb. 10, 2023-SW Michigan-Looking Like A Great Weekend Ahead

Friday, Feb. 10, 2023-SW Michigan-Looking Like A Great Weekend Ahead

Currently 32 with an average wind from the SSW of 3 mph. Feels like 25 degrees. Dew Point 29, Barometer 30.01, Humidity 85%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:47 am, Sunset 6:06 pm.

Cloudy with a 40% chance of snow. High in the mid 30s. NW winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 30.

Mostly cloudy in the evening becoming partly cloudy. Low in the mid 20s. NW winds 5-15 mph.

Not especially nice today, but Saturday and Sunday look like nothing but sunshine for us. Should be terrific. Won’t be super warm, but comfortable. And this time of year, that’s good enough. And better. This unusual winter, month of February, continues. Does this mean we’re going to have to pay for it in March? I sure hope not. That’s going to be a wait and see situation. In the meantime, enjoy this weekend shining with the brightness of the sun.

Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023-SW Michigan-Chilly Wet Weather

Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023-SW Michigan-Chilly Wet Weather

Currently 43 degrees with an E wind of 7 mph. Feels like 27 degrees. Dew Point 35, Barometer 29.54, Humidity 100%, Visibility 2.5 mi., Sunrise 7:48 am, Sunset 6:04 pm.

100% chance of rain. High in the mid 40s. E wind 15-20 becoming S 10-20 with gusts to 35.

50% chance of overnight rain possibly mixed with snow. Low in the lower 30s. NW winds 15-25 with gusts to 45 decreasing to 35.

It’s quite chilly out there and the rain is a cold one. I guess we’ll be lucky if at least some of it doesn’t become a wet snow. Bound to happen at some point before winter departs. For today, it’s just a good day to stay inside and dry. Our day-to-day temperatures for the next week will fluctuate from the 20s up into the 40s. Very changeable. Nothing drastic in view, at least not as of now.
