Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021-SW Michigan-Could Get A Few Snow Flurries

Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021-SW Michigan-Could Get A Few Snow Flurries

Currently 22 with an average wind from the NNE of 2 mph. Feels like 22 degrees. Dew Point 23, Humidity 99%, Barometer 30.04, Visibility 8 mi., Sunrise 8:10 am, Sunset 5:09 pm.

A mix of morning sun and clouds will become a cloudy sky with a 40% chance of some snow showers or flurries. High 38. S winds 10-15 with gusts to 20 becoming SW with gusts to 30 in the afternoon.

Cloudy tonight with a 50% chance of snow flurries. Low 21. WNW 15-25 mph.

Yet another clipper system is going to be breezing by and this one could bring us a little snow. Won’t last, so don’t get all excited, but the chance for some at least temporarily is there. Still not seeing a White Christmas.  Hard to believe it’s only a few short days left before Christmas, isn’t it? Here in Michigan we’ve had many Christmases with plenty of snow. Just not this year. Won’t even be all that cold I don’t think. We’ll end up getting that sort of weather, only a bit later for those who love a traditional northern Christmas.

Monday, Dec. 20, 2021-SW Michigan-Temperatures To Stay On Cool Side

Monday, Dec. 20, 2021-SW Michigan-Temperatures To Stay On Cool Side

Currently 32 with an average wind from the SE of 5 mph. Feels like 32 degrees. Dew Point29, Humidity 88%, Barometer 30.14, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:11 am, Sunset 5:11 pm.

Cloudy with a high of 39 degrees. WSW winds 10-20 mph.

Cloudy to partly cloudy. Low 22. NNW winds 5- 10 mph.

Except for Wednesday which at the moment looks to be dipping down into the 20s for a daytime high. Most of the days will be in the 30 degree range. No precip to speak of forecast for the week. Things do change, but nothing to speak of for now.  Doesn’t really feel like the week before Christmas, does it? Not weather-wise anyway. But it is. Only 5 more sleeps and there it will be. Christmas day. Just don’t be looking for a white one.

Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021-SW Michigan-Snow Melting Away

Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021-SW Michigan-Snow Melting Away

Currently 33with an average wind from the NE of 1 mph. Feels like 33 degrees.  Dew Point 22, Humidity 65%, Barometer 30.38, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:11 am, Sunset 5:10 pm.

Cloudy 34 with a SE wind 5-10 mph.

Mostly cloudy overnight. Low 28. SSW winds 10-20 mph.

Temperatures aren’t crazy warm but by the same token, they aren’t as cold as they could be at this time of year in Michigan. Got 2 or 3 days of sunshine coming up and then maybe a few rainy days. Like maybe a rainy Christmas. At least that’s the view from here. Sounds okay to me unless things get not so good and the rain turns to one of those horrible wintry mixes. Let’s hope if there can’t be snow at least the precipitation stays plain old manageable rain.

Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021-SW Michigan-Wintry Looking This Morning

Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021-SW Michigan-Wintry Looking This Morning

Currently 30 with an average wind from the N of 8 mph. Feels like 30 degrees. Dew Point 29, Humidity 97%, Barometer 30.07, Visibility 4 mi., Sunrise 8:10 am, Sunset 5:10 pm.

Special Weather Statement for Saturday morning – snow and freezing rain is resulting in slippery travel conditions.

Mostly cloudy with a 70% chance of morning snow showers. High 34. N winds 5 – 10 mph.

Cloudy to partly cloudy with a few snow flurries possible. Low 22. N winds 5 -10 mph.

Plenty of folks woke up this morning to look out the window and burst into song…It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like… Not all of us however. Some of us glanced outside and didn’t say anything nearly as complimentary to this morning’s weather. Roads are said to be rather a mess with some areas combining a freezing rain off and on with the snow showers.

Temperatures during the week, although managing to stay in the 30s might get high enough over freezing to make this mostly all go away. Chance of rain/snow showers coming in next Friday and Saturday. I’m sure most will be tickled to see any hint of snow for Christmas and at this point that possibility is all up in the air – so to speak. I guess we’ll see how it goes. Got a week yet.

Friday, December 17, 2021-SW Michigan-Colder But At Least The Wind Died Down

Friday, December 17, 2021-SW Michigan-Colder But At Least The Wind Died Down

Currently 30 with an average wind from the W of 2 mph. Feels like 30 degrees. Dew Point 24, Humidity 81%, Barometer 30.26, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:09 am, Sunset 5:10 pm.

Mostly sunny with a few afternoon clouds. High 38 with a wind from the NNW of 10-15 mph.

Cloudy with a 30% chance of overnight snow showers. Low 29. ENE winds 5 -10 mph.

Didn’t lose power yesterday and from what I heard it seems to me that most of that fierce wind streamed past us way up high rather than, for the most part, sharing it with us here on the ground. Watching the clouds literally fly by, as well as listening to that powerful sound, told us the wind didn’t vanish, it simply spared us. At least most of us. No complaints here.

The cold temperatures are here to stay now and although we seem to, perhaps, be in for a few snow showers, still no sign of any of the white stuff accumulating and presenting a White Christmas. It will most certainly settle in sooner or later, but this year it appears to be later.

Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021-SW Michigan-High Winds Whip Away Warm Temps Today

Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021-SW Michigan-High Winds Whip Away Warm Temps Today

Currently 61 with an average wind from the WSW of 26 mph. Feels like 61 degrees. Dew Point 47, Humidity 62%, Barometer 29.61, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:09 am, Sunset 5:09 pm.

Partly cloudy and windy. Morning high of 62 will fall sharply to near 40 degrees. WSW winds 25-35 mph with gusts to 50 mph.

Mostly clear overnight and still windy. Low 28 degrees. W winds 20-30 mph.

This is the earliest I’ve gotten up in …well, years. Laying there listening to that fierce wind howling up in the tree tops was more than I could take. Got up to shower and fix breakfast. I want hot coffee, some tea handy and my day off to a somewhat normal manner if this power goes out. And if it doesn’t it will be a small miracle. I’ve heard wind blowing before but this one was frightening. From time to time it seemed to dip down to ground level which made it even worse. My wind chimes, hanging out in the back, may or may not make it through this wind event.

Our temperatures hovering in comfort zones of 50 and 60 degrees are done and gone after today. This system will wipe it away very fast as this day progresses. Still looking like a Green Christmas this year, folks.

Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021-SW Michigan-Working Up Toward Another Wind Problem

Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021-SW Michigan-Working Up Toward Another Wind Problem

Currently 48 with an average wind from the SW of 2 mph. Feels like 48 degrees. Dew Point 48, Humidity 99%, Barometer 30.031, Visibility 6 mi., Sunrise 8:08 am, Sunset 5:09 pm.

Cloudy with a 40% chance of rain showers. High around 60. SSW winds 10-20 mph.

Overcast with a 40% chance of overnight rain showers. Low 49. Windy. SSW winds 20-30 mph with gusts to 40.

Wind Advisory in effect from 7 pm to 4 pm on Thursday.

Buck up little camper, if you didn’t qualify for a power outage the other night here comes another one. Sounds like this one might not miss us – not that it managed to miss everyone in the area the last time, but for most of us the wind kicked up in the morning and pretty much turned into nothing the rest of the time. We never know, do we, whether out little donut hole shelter area will work again or not. It’s a live and find out thing. Just a head’s up that here it comes again. Gusts up to 50-60 mph are possible. This time the wind will blow away our comfortable temperatures and drop us into the 30 degree range. Still not seeing any snow to speak of but the cold is coming our way.

Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021-SW Michigan-Warm For A Few Days Before Temp Dips

Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021-SW Michigan-Warm For A Few Days Before Temp Dips

Currently 35 with an average wind from the E of 9 mph. Feels like 35 degrees. Dew Point 33, Humidity 88%, Barometer 30.47, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 8:07 am, Sunset 5:09 pm.

Partly cloudy becoming overcast.  High 46. ESE winds 10-15 mph.

Cloudy with a 70% chance of overnight. Low 41. Se winds 10-15 mph.

Our temperatures will remain comfortable for the next few days until they take a dip – and stay down. Enjoy what we have because we won’t have it long. Still not seeing a white Christmas in the forecast for the holiday and it’s fast approaching. Maybe some light snow flurries a couple of days early next week but nothing serious yet showing up. For those wishing for the traditional white Christmas maybe thinking positive and wishing will make it so. I guess we’ll see. Of course I’m not one wishing and hoping. A nice green Christmas is fine and dandy with me.

Monday, Dec 13, 2021-SW Michigan-Temperatures To Stay On Warm Side This Week

Monday, Dec 13, 2021-SW Michigan-Temperatures To Stay On Warm Side This Week

Currently 37 with an average wind from the SW of 2 mph. Feels like 37 degrees. Dew Point 33, Humidity 80%, Barometer 30.14, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:07 am, Sunset 5:09 pm.

Sunny with a high in the upper 40s. WSW winds 10-20 mph with higher gusts possible.

Mostly clear tonight. Low 29. Light and variable winds.

This coming week looks well above any chance for snow and although the temperatures look to be taking a dive by next weekend, no snow appears to be eminent. Except for one reporting station that is throwing caution to the wind and predicting snow showers on Christmas day. Personally, I think that’s stretching things more than a bit, but if it makes those who favor a white Christmas feel better, than so be it. I guess we’ll see how it goes, but from here it look unlikely for anything other than a green Christmas this time around.

Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021-SW Michigan-Dodges Another Weather Bullet

Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021-SW Michigan-Dodges Another Weather Bullet

Currently 31 with an average wind from the SW of 5 mph. Feels like 23 degrees. Dew Point 29, Humidity 89%, Barometer 30.06, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:06 am, Sunset 5:09 pm.

Mostly sunny today with a high around 44. SW winds 15-25 with higher gusts possible.

Some evening clouds will become a clear overnight sky. Low 36. SW winds 10-20 mph.

While some in this area did find themselves with power outages, most of us just had flickering lights but the power stayed on. The winds did kick up early in the morning but the day of fierce winds predicted never did materialize here.  Once again, our little donut hole of weather protection saved us from some brutal weather. This coming week look mild for mid December and the only precipitation forecast as of right now is some rain.

Down south, nothing seemed to save them from the brutality of the weather and the deaths and damage is heartrending. Prayers from everywhere for those having to endure what happened from this particular weather system. For some it will be a long journey back, for some, they’ll never get there. Tragic results from severe weather.
