Sounds like a storm system is making its way up to our area with the chance of some severe storms mixed in there. So just be aware. Tomorrow sound like more rain than not with another chance coming Thursday and Friday. So, enjoy the partly sunny skies this morning.

Today is so comfortable. A delightful breeze this morning that didn’t really smell of spring, but it had the same feel on the face. The Jet Stream is fooling around up there and looks from here like it about to dip enough to bring us some cooler temperatures this coming week. No idea right now what it plans to do after that but I’d appreciate it if it would drift upwards again and leave us in this nice temperature range. Doubtful but hopeful.  In the meantime there is a system of rain sweeping across toward us which might bring us some rain this afternoon. And Monday. And Tuesday.

Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021-SW Michigan-More Fog And Gloomy Morning

Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021-SW Michigan-More Fog And Gloomy Morning

Currently 63 with an average wind from the SW of 3 mph. Feels like 63 degrees. Dew Point 62, Humidity 96%, Barometer 29.97, Visibility 1.5 mi., Sunrise 7:50 am, Sunset 7:11 pm.

Cloudy skies early followed by partial clearing. Slight chance of rain. High 72. Light and variable winds.

Partly cloudy with a 40% chance of late night showers and thunderstorms. Low 63. SE winds 5 – 10 mph.

Fog seems to have settled in for good – well, probably not, but most mornings lately have involved fog in some degree or other. Looking ahead, it now appears as if our temperatures about this time next week might not get out of the 50s. Now that’s brutal to me. Hopefully they won’t stay there but hey…it is October so anything is possible. Me? I’m hoping for the possibility of September temperatures hanging around a bit longer. Since I have no official say in it, well get what what we get. As usual.

Friday, Oct. 8, 2021-SW Michigan-Steady Downpour This Morning

Friday, Oct. 8, 2021-SW Michigan-Steady Downpour This Morning

Currently 66 with an average wind from the SE of 4 mph. Feels like 66 degrees. Dew Point 66, Humidity 98%, Barometer 30.05, Visibility 2.4 mi., Sunrise 7:49 am, Sunset 7:13 pm.

100% chance of steady rain. High 71 degrees. Light and variable winds.

60% chance of isolated thunderstorms in the evening then mostly cloudy the rest of the night. Low around 60. Light and variable winds.

Pretty much a solid heavy rain out there so far this morning. Haven’t ventured out to feed the birds and critters as I don’t want to drown and I don’t see so much as a hint of anything else out there feeling any different. Once it lets up – and it will eventually – I’ll go scatter a late breakfast for them. In the meantime watching plenty of big green blobs moving across the weather map over our state.

Not a bad week coming up but by this time next week we could be firmly planted in the 60 degree range. Not sure we’ll be stuck there but I see several days in a row, no clue about what’s beyond that. I reckon we’ll find out when we get there.

Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021-SW Michigan-Another Foggy Fall Morning

Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021-SW Michigan-Another Foggy Fall Morning

Currently 64 with an average wind from the E of 10 mph. Feels like 64 degrees. Dew Point 62, Humidity 98%, Humidity 98%, Barometer 30.18, Visibility 1.5 mi., Sunrise 7:47 am, Sunset 7;14 pm.

Cloudy with a 60% chance of occasional rain showers. Thunder possible. High 72. ESE winds 10-15 mph.

The same cloudy sky and 60% chance of rain overnight. Low 63. SE winds 5 -10 mph.

Another colorless sky with fog clinging to the trees. Still, the temperatures are supposed to stay in the comfortable range for this time of year. Fog and rain we can expect at any day during this month but there have been years when the temperature has been much cooler. We’re lucky that isn’t the case this year. All too soon those temperatures will take a dive and out will come the cold weather gear. I’m content with this, light jacket, maybe a need for an umbrella.

Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021-SW Michigan-Slightly Foggy With Clouds

Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021-SW Michigan-Slightly Foggy With Clouds

Currently 57 with an average wind from the NE of 7 mph. Feels like 57 degrees. Dew Point 57, Humidity 95%, Visibility 0.83 mi, Sunrise 7:46 am, Sunset 7:16 pm.

Mostly cloudy this morning becoming partly cloudy this afternoon. Foggy, which should burn off shortly. High 74. E winds 5 -10 mph.

Partly cloudy to cloudy overnight skies with a slight chance of rain. Low 61. E winds 5-10 mph.

Sort of a dismal morning but hopes for a brighter afternoon. Sounds like rain tomorrow.

Took down the Hummingbird feeder and put it away for the year. Makes me sad, but hey…I don’t blame the tiny feathered creatures for wanting to go where it’s warm in the winter. I would if I could, too. I’m praying they make it down where ever they’re heading and get there safe. And safely back here to me next year. I’ll be waiting and watching.

Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021-SW Michigan-Hoping For Some Afternoon Sun

Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021-SW Michigan-Hoping For Some Afternoon Sun

Currently 62 with an average wind from the E of 4 mph. Feels like 62 degrees. Dew Point 59, Humidity 90%, Barometer 30.2, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:45 am, Sunset 7:18 pm.

Cloudy early with possible peeks of sunshine later on in the day. High 71. ENE winds 10-15 mph.

Some passing overnight clouds. Low near 55. ENE winds 5 -10 mph.

A rather dismal morning but hopes are high that a peek or two of sunshine will break through later on today. We’re now entering the time of year when mist or rain or some sort of precipitation can crop up any day. When it’s not unusual to find a day that had been predicted to be sunny or mostly so to be instead overcast with a chance of showers. It’s a Michigan October after all. Temperatures still predicted to remain in the 70s. Now perhaps some rain Thursday – Sunday. So…maybe or maybe not that will all happen. But that’s the weather news as of today.

Monday, Oct. 4, 2021-SW Michigan-Still Dealing With Some Rain

Monday, Oct. 4, 2021-SW Michigan-Still Dealing With Some Rain

Currently 64 with an average wind from the SW of 5 mph. Feels like 64 degrees. Dew Point 64, Barometer 29.88, Humidity 96%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 7:44 am, Sunset 7:20 pm.

100% chance of rain today. Areas of fog early. High around 70. NE winds 10-15 mph.

Mostly cloudy overnight with a slight chance of rain. Low 58. NE winds 5 -10 mph.

Measured almost 1 1/4″ of rain since yesterday morning in my little backyard. Yesterday’s downpours were something fierce at times. Today, nothing but light rain so far and our temperatures look to be staying fairly warm for this time of year. Appears they will be in the 70 degree range all week. Even saw one site claiming a possible 80 tomorrow, but we’ll have to wait and see on that one. In the meantime, was great to get some much needed rain.

Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021-SW Michigan-Heavy Morning Rain

Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021-SW Michigan-Heavy Morning Rain

Currently 63 with an average wind from the SW of 3 mph. Feels like 63 degrees. Dew Point 66, Barometer 29.84, Humidity 2.5 mi., Sunrise 7:43 am, Sunset 7:21 pm.

100% chance of heavy rain with thunderstorms. High around 70 degrees. Light and variable winds.

80% chance of overnight thunderstorms and rain. Low around 60. Light and variable winds.

Rainfall so heavy this morning it made driving a tad scary not being able to see too far ahead and it got so dark my confused little solar lights came on for awhile. Will be interesting to see how much rain we end up with when all is said and done. I’m sure it won’t be raining this heavy all day, but we are expecting a day full of precipitation. Sure did need it in my little bone dry backyard.

A strong system of southern moisture is flowing up our way with another strong system coming in from the West doing its best to blow it all to the East, so what we’re getting they’ll be having to deal with us farther East as time goes along. Moderation would be nice but Mother Nature rarely operates under such order. We take what we get. Right now, right here, that’s plenty of rain.

Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021-SW Michigan-Could Get Rain This Weekend

Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021-SW Michigan-Could Get Rain This Weekend

Currently 61 with an average wind from the SW of 5mph. Feels like 61 degrees. Dew Point 56, Barometer 30.03, Humidity 72%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:42 am, Sunset 7:23 pm.

Plenty of clouds with a 40% chance of afternoon rain. High 77. SSW winds 5 -10 mph.

80% chance of evening thunderstorms then cloudy with a chance of overnight rain. Low 62. SSW winds 5 -10 mph.

The morning sky was pretty with great lumps of clouds filling in what little blue there was in the beginning. Now it’s completely overcast and the thought of rain sounds about right. Cooler than yesterday but yesterday was a bit warmer than we usually think of October anyway. Seems like the coming week  appears to be bringing us upper 60s and low 70s for our daytime temperatures.

On a sad note – well, for me – I haven’t seen a Hummingbird at my feeder since Wednesday. I think they’re gone. I’ll keep the feeder fresh and filled for at least another week to take care of any late flyers who need a snack on their way by (In past years there have been a few show up) but I feel like I always do this time of year. Hoping the little things have a safe flight on their long journey to their winter home. I always worry about them.
