Currently 38 with an average wind from the SSW of 3 mph. Feels like 35 degrees. Dew Point 35, Humidity 91%, Barometer 29.82 & rising, Visibility 1.5 mi., Sunrise 7:39 am, Sunset 5:14 pm.

Morning fog. Afternoon clouds. High 41. Light and variable winds.

Mostly cloudy overnight. Low 31. Light and variable winds.

As of now, rain has moved into the forecast for Thursday but with temperatures expected to be up in the 40s, no worries. At least it won’t be snow or ice in that case. Rain we can deal with. Easily. Today we’re merely dealing with a foggy morning and a cloudy afternoon. Nothing special. Or interesting.

Woke to discover most of the precipitation previously thought to visit us this week has mostly vanished. For now. About mid-week there might be a bit of rain, but this seems to be a nicely mild week on tap. For now.

Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019-South West Michigan-Some Clouds To Lots Of Clouds Today

Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019-South West Michigan-Some Clouds To Lots Of Clouds Today

Currently 34 with an average wind from the SSE of 4 mph. Feels like 30 degrees. Dew Point 22, Humidity 60%, Barometer 30.08 & falling, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:36 am, Sunset 5:16 pm.

Partly to mostly cloudy today. High 39. Light and variable winds.

Cloudy with a few snow flurries possible. Low 31. Light and variable winds.

Today is a winner by November standards. It’s not snowing, no cold wind blowing, nothing much happening. That’s a good thing. If we can’t have a day with all sunshine, which we’d all appreciate, at least a day that is bland and uneventful is the next best. That would be today. Good enough.

Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019-South West Michigan-Sunny And Chilly

Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019-South West Michigan-Sunny And Chilly

Currently 28 with an average wind from the E of 10 mph. Feels like 19 degrees. Dew Point 19, Humidity 69%, Barometer 30.51 & falling, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:35 am, Sunset 5:17 pm.

Mostly sunny today with a high around 34 degrees. ESE winds 10 -15 mph.

Partly cloudy tonight with a low of 21. ESE winds 5 – 10 mph.

The cold doesn’t feel nearly as bad with the sun is shining. And it’s doing its best to shine through a thin layer of clouds. Hopefully these will clear out eventually, but in the meantime, there’s enough sunshine working its way through to make it seem okay. So far there is still no precipitation on tap until about next Thursday.  I’m okay with that, too. If the sun peeks through once in awhile with no snow, good enough.

Friday, Nov. 15, 2019-South West Michigan-Might See A Peek Of Sun Today

Friday, Nov. 15, 2019-South West Michigan-Might See A Peek Of Sun Today

Currently 32 with an average wind from the W of 8 mph. Feels like 25 degrees. Dew Point 27, Humidity 80%, Barometer 30.28 & rising, Visibility 8 mi., Sunrise 7:34 am, Sunset 5:18 pm.

Cloudy morning will become a partly cloudy afternoon. High 38. WNW winds 10 -15 mph.

Mostly clear skies overnight. Low 20. ENE winds 5 – 10 mph.

Completely gray overcast sky out there this morning. Hard to believe any of it will part enough to allow a bit of sunshine to break through. It will be nice if it happens, but not a hint that it will so far. At least it isn’t raining or snowing today – not so far, anyway. Actually, if things stay the way they are – and that’s a great big if ’cause it rarely does – we won’t be getting any more precip until about next Tuesday. That will be grand. We’ll see how it goes.

Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019-South West Michigan-Possible Freezing Drizzle Today

Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019-South West Michigan-Possible Freezing Drizzle Today

Currently 28 with an average wind from the WSW of 5 mph making it feel like 22 degrees. Dew Point 24, Humidity 85%,  Barometer 30.19, Visibility 6 mi., Sunrise 7:31 am, Sunset 5:19 pm.

Partly cloudy with a low of 29. WSW winds 10 – 15 mph.

Rather a gloomy little day going on out there. Chilly but no rain or snow coming down, so I guess that’s a plus. Just read the ‘official’ forecast for our winter that now says from sometime in December until ‘well into spring’ things are going to be mighty ugly for us. Snow, cold…not one single thing that’s appealing. The well into spring thing is what’s getting to me the worst. Bad enough to have a miserable winter but having it hang around into the next – my favorite – season is unconscionable. Mother Nature seems dead set on outdoing herself once again. Dang!

Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019-South West Michigan-Cold As Heck Out There

Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019-South West Michigan-Cold As Heck Out There

Currently 16 with an average wind from the S of 11 mph. Feels like 3 degrees. Dew Point 5, Humidity 61%, Barometer 30.33 & falling, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:31 am, Sunset 5:19 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a high of 24. S winds 10 -20 mph.

Cloudy with a 60% chance of overnight snow. Low 21. SSW winds 10 -15 mph.

Not much to say that’s good about this morning. It’s cold. Way too cold for this time of year. It isn’t really even winter yet, but it definitely is winter outside. Going to be a long, ugly season coming at us.

Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2019-South West Michigan-Going To Get Darn Cold Tonight

Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2019-South West Michigan-Going To Get Darn Cold Tonight

Currently 19 with an average wind from the NW of 10 mph. Feels like 8 degrees. Dew Point 13, Humidity 76%, Barometer 30.37 & rising, Visibility 8 mi., Sunrise 7:30 am, Sunset 5:20 pm

Mostly cloudy becoming partly cloudy. A few snow flurries possible. High 23. NW winds 10 -15 mph.

Clear overnight skies. Low 7 degrees. SSW 5 – 10 mph.

It’s far too early in the season to be setting new low overnight temperatures of 7 degrees. What on earth does this indicate for the rest of our winter? I mean when it’s really, truly winter? Nothing good, that’s for certain. This is, indeed shaping up to be one lousy, rotten season. And we did end up with a good 5″ of snow from yesterday’s system. Ridiculous.

Monday, Nov. 11, 2019-South West Michigan-Cold, Snow, Miserable Early Winter

Monday, Nov. 11, 2019-South West Michigan-Cold, Snow, Miserable Early Winter

Currently 25 with an average wind from the N of 7 mph. Feels like 17 degrees. Dew Point 23, Humidity 92%, Barometer 30.24 & rising, Visibility 0.3 mi., Sunrise 7:29 am, Sunset 5:21 pm.

Winter Weather Advisory in effect through 7 pm today. 100% chance of snow. 3-5″ expected. High 28. N winds 5 -10 mph.

Mostly cloudy with a few flurries possible. Low 17. NNW winds 5 -10 mph.

Arctic air blasting down through most of the nation is going to be bringing snow to many of us, but likely record setting cold weather to pretty much all. This is way too early for such nonsense. Going to be a wicked, long winter this time around. Not too many folks are happy about this. I know for sure I’m not.

Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019-South West Michigan-Changeable Weather Forecast

Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019-South West Michigan-Changeable Weather Forecast

Currently 37 with an average wind from the West of 5 mph. Feels like 34. Dew Point 36, Humidity 94%, Barometer 29.95 & rising, Visibility 8 mi., Sunrise 7:27 am, Sunset 5:23 pm.

Cloudy with a 30% chance of rain. High near 40. NW winds 5 -10 mph.

Cloudy with a 50% chance of overnight snow showers. Low around 25. NNE winds 5 -10 mph.

Okay, so yesterday my tiny backyard was full of dead brown leaves and I thought about getting out there to rake them up – but – the wind was coming from the wrong direction and besides, today’s forecast was for some sunshine and 40+ degrees. Perfect. The wind would be coming from the NW, which would help me in the direction I have to rake the leaves, so today’s plan was to get out there and do one last clean up on that patch of dirt I call a back yard. Now, this morning the forecast is tossing in rain and barely 40 degrees. Come on…where’s the fairness in this? Give us a break! I don’t care. I’m getting out there and raking even if I’m being rained on. Another cold surge with snow is taking aim at us and this will be my last chance. Would have been nice, but it will be what it is. Thanks a lot, Mother Nature.
