Lots of sunshine out there still but some big puffy clouds moving in tonight. Looks and feels like a nice October day, we just seem to have some rain moving in overnight.

Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019-South West Michigan-Another Sun-Filled Day

Currently 53 with an average wind from ESE 5 mph. Feels like 52 degrees. Dew Point 49, Barometer 30.23 & rising, Humidity 85%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 7:48 am, Sunset 7:09 pm. Abundant sunshine. High 68. SE winds 5 – 10 mph.

Today is supposed to be another winner. A delightfully cool but sunny day. It still does sound as if rain will be moving in for the weekend. Not all of the weather stations are reporting this, but enough so I’m thinking we’re in for rain. We’ll see how it goes. For now, it’s another day to savor and appreciate.

Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019-South West Michigan-Plenty Of Sunshine Today

Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019-South West Michigan-Plenty Of Sunshine Today

Currently 49 with an average wind from the ESE wind of 3 mph. Feels like 45. Dew Point 45, Barometer 30.27 & rising, Humidity 84%, Visibility 10 mph., Sunrise 7:47 am, Sunset 7:11 pm.  A sky full of sunshine today. High 66. SE winds 5 – 10 mph.

Clear overnight skies. Low 44. Light and variable winds.

What a glorious blue sky. With a promise of nothing else for today. A lovely October day. And we need to appreciate it because it looks for now as if the entire weekend, Friday right on through Sunday, holds out the expectation of rain. That’s definitely not good if it happens. We shall see. Things change quickly with the weather…well, sometimes they do. Fingers crossed that this is one of those times. Nobody needs a 3 day rainy weekend.

What a glorious morning. A tad chilly however nothing but blue skies and sunshine. And…the best part is it would seem the next couple will be the same. Almost too much to believe, but we’ll sure hope that’s right. And enjoy the heck out of the weather if it is.  The sort of October weather to appreciate. And I do.

Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019-South West Michigan-Could Be One Of Last Glorious Sundays

Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019-South West Michigan-Could Be One Of Last Glorious Sundays

Currently 57 with an average wind from the W of 15 mph. Feels like 53 degrees. Dew Point 45, Humidity 65%, Barometer 30.00 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:45 am, Sunset 7:14 pm. Partly cloudy with a high around 62. W winds 10 -10 mph.

Partly cloudy, low 48 with a WSW wind of 5 – 10 mph.

It’s a wonderful Sunday. A day to get out and mow the lawn for probably the last time, tend to outdoor chores that are better done not in the rain or freezing cold. We all know, here in Michigan, that really nice Sundays, this time of year, are to be cherished as it won’tbe long before they’ll likely vanish. Today’s a winner.

Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019-South West Michigan-Some Sun, Some Clouds, Cool Temps

Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019-South West Michigan-Some Sun, Some Clouds, Cool Temps

Currently 45 with an average wind from the E of 10 mph. Feels like 40 degrees. Mix of sun and clouds morning becoming a cloudy afternoon. High 59. SE winds 10 -15 mph.

Cloudy with a 70% chance of overnight rain. Low 52. S winds 10 – 15 mph.

Nights are getting colder. The furnace is on. Yup, it’s October. Peering way ahead, it looks as if – unless things change – next Saturday and Sunday will only offer us 40 degree days as well as the nights. Perhaps we won’t get any rain today, which will be a blessing. Folks along the river will be happy to see the levels lowering. Way too much rain lately.

Not much m9ore than gloom this morning…oh, and chilly temperatures. It was around 45 when I woke up this morning. It’s getting downright nippy already. Area Flood Warning is in effect from all the recent rain. Hopefully there won’t be any rain today but tomorrow is a bit suspect with a 50% chance of rain. Hopefully it won’t be heavy and prolong the problem.

Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019-South West Michigan-Our Gloomy Weather Continues

Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019-South West Michigan-Our Gloomy Weather Continues

Currently 53 with an average wind from the ESE of 3 mph. Feels like 53 degrees. Dew Point 52, Humidity 97%, Barometer 29.90 & falling, Visibility 4 mi., Sunrise 7:41 am, Sunset 7:20 pm. Overcast with a slight chance of rain. High 62. W winds 5 – 10 mph increasing to 10 – 20 mph.

Cloudy until about midnight then partly cloudy. Low 44. NW winds 10 -20 mph.

The morning started out with a thin, light mist. So our rain doesn’t seem to want to leave. Got another 1/2″ in my little backyard overnight. And cooler temperatures are upon us. It’s probably jacket weather from here on out. After all, it is October, so I suspect it’s going as it’s supposed to. I’d prefer though if it was heading into Spring.

Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019-South West Michigan-Flood Advisory Continues

Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019-South West Michigan-Flood Advisory Continues

Currently 56 with an average wind from the NE of 13 mph. Feels like 53 degrees. Dew Point 55, Humidity 95%, Barometer 29.91 & rising, Visibility 7 mi., Sunrise 7:40 am, Sunset 7:22 pm. Cloudy with an 80% chance of rain. High 60. ENE winds 10 – 20 mph.

60% chance of overnight rain. Low 51. ENE winds 10 -20 mph.

Got another 2 1/2″ of rain overnight and this most certainly didn’t help the flooding issues. Advisories continue – as well as does the rain. Not supposed to get anything heavy today or tonight or tomorrow, but we are expecting rain none-the-less. Can’t possibly help the situation. The best we can say is that at least it isn’t snow.

Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019-South West Michigan-Flood Watch In Effect

Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019-South West Michigan-Flood Watch In Effect

Currently 71 with an average wind from the SW of 8 mph. Feels like 71 degrees. Dew Point 66, Humidity 86%, Barometer 29.92 & rising, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:39am, Sunset 7:23pm. 40% chance of morning thunderstorms with some afternoon clouds. High near 80. WSW winds 10 -20 mph.

100% chance of overnight rain and thunderstorms. Locally heavy rainfall expected. Low 58. NW winds 5 – 10 mph.

Since the ground is pretty much saturated by so much recent rain, the predicted rainfall of 1-2″ with some areas maybe getting 3″,  things aren’t going to improve.  Hence the flood watch in effect through tomorrow evening.  Not sure but I’m thinking that might be increased to include another day as more rain could be on the way for Thursday, too. Sort of a soggy beginning to the month of October. Best thing to think is at least it’s not snow like Montana is dealing with. I’ll take the rain any time.
