Saturday, July 21, 2018 South West Michigan – A Little Welcome Rain

Saturday, July 21, 2018 South West Michigan – A Little Welcome Rain

Currently 66 with an E wind of 9 mph staying out of the way  and leaving things to feel like 66 degrees. Dew Point 65, Humidity 97%, Barometer 29.70 & rising, Visibility 7 mi, Sunrise 6:21 am, Sunset 9:15 pm. 80% chance of scattered thunderstorms. High 78. ENE winds 5 – 10 mph.

80% chance of early thunderstorms. Low 66. ENE winds 5 -10 mph.

Still haven’t got quite a half an inch of rain over the past few days, but we’re getting close. How ever small the amount – actually, so far .44″ according to my rain gauge measurement – it’s been more than welcome and weekend or not, we’re looking forward to as much more as we can get. The weather map is showing small clumps of green floating around here and there but nothing big or nearby at the moment. Hoping for more. We still are in need.

Friday, July 20, 2018 South West Michigan – Finally Getting Some Rain

Friday, July 20, 2018 South West Michigan – Finally Getting Some Rain

Currently 67 with a SE wind of 13 mph skipping around through the raindrops but leaving the temperature to feel like 67 degrees. Dew Point 62, Humidity 85%, Barometer 29.77 & falling, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:20 am, Sunset 9:15 pm. 80% chance of rain today. Some thunderstorms could be severe. High 81. SSE winds 10-20 mph.

90% chance of the same tonight with a low around 66. SE winds 10 – 15 mph.

What a delight to wake this morning to the sound and smell of rain. Thunder rumbling overhead. Been a long, long time since that’s happened. There is a slight chance of something severe coming our way during this system as it rolls through but we seem to be on the upper edge of anything drastic. Not out of the question, but for the most part we’re simply going to enjoy the fact that we finally have some rain falling here.

Thursday, July 19, 2018 South West Michigan – Rain Coming Tonight?

Thursday, July 19, 2018 South West Michigan – Rain Coming Tonight?

Currently 69 with a SSE wind of 5 mph playing around the edge and making no difference so it feels like 69 degrees. Dew Point 57, Humidity 66%, Barometer 30.03 & falling, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:19 am, Sunset 9:16 pm. Partly cloudy today with a high near 85. S winds 10 – 15 mph.

Partly cloudy with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Low 65. SE winds 5 – 10 mph.

We do seem to have a fairly good chance of some rain coming our way tonight, tomorrow, maybe Saturday. On the weather map, it looks as if the chance for severe weather accompanying that rain will be far to the south of us and I do hope that holds true. At any rate, we are going to welcome in the rain with absolute gladness. Been a long, long time since we’ve had a rainy day. Fingers are definitely crossed this time. And I’m going to dash out and tend to errands today so if the rain does mosey on this away, I’ll be able to just stay put and enjoy the heck out of it.

Wednesday, July 18, 2018 South West Michigan – Nicely Cool Morning

Wednesday, July 18, 2018 South West Michigan – Nicely Cool Morning

Currently 65 with an average NE wind of 4 mph leaving that to feel like the 65 degrees it is. Dew Point 54, Humidity 67%, Barometer 30.13, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:18 am, Sunset 9;17 pm.  Sunny today with a high around 80. Light and variable winds.

Clear overnight, low 55. Light and variable winds.

Almost felt chilly this morning when I went out to feed the critters. Well, as compared to what we’ve been experiencing, anyway. Felt good.  Our fingers are now crossed for the possibility of showers and thunderstorms moving in late Friday. Oh yes, we know full well how things can change between then and now, but right at the moment, things are looking good to be getting the much needed rain by this weekend. I keep trying to remember what a wonderful rainy day – or night – feels and sounds like. Frankly, it’s been so long now that it’s only a faint memory so I’m more than ready to refresh those moments in my mind. And goodness knows, the crunch dry grass in my tiny backyard is ready to accept anything that could come splashing down on it. Like I said, fingers crossed.

Tuesday, July 17, 2018 South West Michigan – We Missed Our Chance For Rain

Tuesday, July 17, 2018 South West Michigan – We Missed Our Chance For Rain

Currently 70 with a N wind of 7 mph playing around but making no difference so it feels like 70 degrees. Dew Point 54, Humidity 58%, Barometer 30.01 & rising, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:17 am, Sunset 9:18. Sunny to partly cloudy, high near 80. NNW winds 10-15 mph.

Clear tonight, low 53. N winds 10 -15 mph.

Well the cold front that came through brought us some lovely welcome coolness – but it also took with it any chance for rain. We had some occasions of cloudiness yesterday, but none of it came to mean anything.  It is thoroughly dry here now and we could have used some precipitation from these past opportunities. Opportunities that weren’t all that great to begin with but totally fizzled out. Our next hope for any rain will be coming Friday through Sunday, but as of now, even that doesn’t sound all that promising. Fingers crossed because we’re definitely in need.

Monday, July 16, 2018 South West Michigan – So Far Not One Drop Of Rain

Monday, July 16, 2018 South West Michigan – So Far Not One Drop Of Rain

Currently 76 with an average SSW wind of 5 mph flitting about with a high Dew Point but making no difference in how it feels. So it feels just like the 76 humid degrees it is. Dew Point 72, Humidity 89%, Barometer 29.89, Visibility 9 mi, Sunrise 6:16 am, Sunset 9:18 pm. Mostly cloudy with a slight chance for a stray shower or thunderstorm to show up. High 89. W winds 10 – 15 mph.

Clear overnight skies. Low 60. NW winds 10 – 15 mph.

We need to get through today and by tomorrow there will be a break in the weather that will allow us some cooler less humid air. Plus…by the end of the week it looks as if we might have a better chance for some much needed rain to move in. So, all in all, a splendid week approaching. Today, however, will be another scorcher with high humidity. We can do this. Just thinking about the next week with the A/C off, the windows open…fresh air moving about sounds like Heaven to me.

Sunday, July 15, 2018 South West Michigan – In Real Need Of Some Rain

Sunday, July 15, 2018 South West Michigan – In Real Need Of Some Rain

Currently 78 with a SSE wind of 2 mph. It feels like 78 degrees so far. Dew Point 69, Humidity 76%, Barometer 29.99 & falling, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:15 am, Sunset 9:19 pm. 30% chance of some afternoon showers or thunderstorms popping up. High 89. SW winds 5 – 10 mph.

Some passing clouds with a small chance of a stray thunderstorm. Low 70. SW winds 5 – 10 mph.

So far the chances for rain have managed to skip right on over us leaving us high and dry. So dry that some of the trees that are more susceptible to lack of water are beginning to shed leaves. This isn’t good. This picture is taken by the side of a busy road, so between the heat of the days, the heat of the road and the lack of rain, a lot of the leaves are living a short, little life. We are definitely in need of rain with only small opportunities cropping up. So far, those opportunities have passed us by.

Saturday, July 14, 2018 South West Michigan – Hot, Humid, Maybe Some Rain

Saturday, July 14, 2018 South West Michigan – Hot, Humid, Maybe Some Rain

Currently 74 with a SW wind of 5 mph flitting about and leaving the temperature to feel like the 74 degrees that it is. Dew Point 69, Humidity 86%, Barometer 30.04 & rising, Visibility 9 mi, Sunrise 6:15 am, Sunset 9:20 pm. Warm and humid with a 40% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms today. High 84. SW winds 5 -10 mph.

Partly cloudy tonight with a low around 68. NNW winds 5 – 10 mph.

Wow – Bad Air Alert in place from this morning through Tuesday morning. Sounds as if a whole lot of close, unhealthy air is in a holding pattern over this area. Going to be hot and humid until about Tuesday, too, with a bit of cooling scheduled to move in then. Evidently along with some clean air.  Should feel more than welcome by then.

Friday, July 13, 2018 South West Michigan – Hoping For A Bit Of Rain Tonight, Tomorrow

Friday, July 13, 2018 South West Michigan – Hoping For A Bit Of Rain Tonight, Tomorrow

Currently 78 with a SW wind of 9 mph playing around with the Dew Point but not budging the number so it feels like 78 degrees. Dew Point 63, Humidity 67%, Barometer 30.10, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:14 am, Sunset 9:20 pm. Partly cloudy with a slight chance of a stray shower or thunderstorm. High 92. WSW winds 10 – 15 mph.

Partly cloudy with a 40% chance of overnight showers and thunderstorms. Low 72. SW winds 5 -10mph.

Pretty warm and mighty dry. We’re all hoping that this little opportunity for some rain does materialize into something to moisten things up hereabouts.  The grass is getting a tad crunchy and a few leaves are dropping due to dryness…neither one all that good. So we’re more than due for some rain.

Thursday, July 12, 2018 South West Michigan – Starting To Feel The Need For Some Rain

Thursday, July 12, 2018 South West Michigan – Starting To Feel The Need For Some Rain

Currently 73 with a SSE wind of 8 mph playing off by itself leaving that number to stand alone. So it feels like 73 degrees. Dew Point 55, Humidity 54%, Barometer 30.18 & rising, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:13 am, Sunset 9:21 pm. Partly cloudy with a high of 88. SSW winds 5 – 10 mph.

Partly cloudy tonight. Low 68. SSW winds 5 – 10 mph.

Getting rather dry hereabouts and we haven’t had any rain – and then only a few small amounts a couple of times – in a long while. Actually, I’ve only measured .28″ since June 27. That’s a rather long period without a good soaking. I’ve been enjoying the sunny days, but now sort of have my fingers crossed for a good rain coming our way. It appears now to be Sunday and Monday with the possibility of precipitation.  Every morning it seems as if those day keep shifting around so as flexible as they are, who knows if or when they’ll show up. We’ll simply have to wait and see. In the meantime, a delightful summer continues.
