Thursday, Nov. 21 2024-SW Michigan-First Snow Of Season

Currently 33 with an average wind from the SSE of 2 mph. Feels like 29 degrees. Dew Point 33, Barometer 29.52, Humidity 100%, Visibility 3 mi. Sunrise 7:43 am, Sunset 5:13 pm.

90 % chance of snow showers possibly mixed with rain showers. High in the upper 30s. SW winds 5-15 mph becoming 5-10 mph in the afternoon.

40% chance of overnight rain showers. Low in the lower 30s. NW winds around 10 mph with gusts to 20.

Woke to find a dusting of snow here and there. Not, for some of us, a happy sight. Expecting the possibility of a bit of measurable snow today. Not a big measure – and nothing for sure – but an inch or so is a maybe. It won’t last because tomorrow we are looking at rain. This is merely a taste of what’s coming before too long. And there’s no way to spice it up to make it tastier for some of us. Alas..it’s simply the beginning of the dull gray, black and white season that exists for what seems like far too long. Even looking out a window leave me feeling cold and longing for color. Personally, I’m already waiting for spring so everything, including me, can come back to life. People like me sort of hibernate until then. Tucking into hibernation mode as we speak.

Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2024-SW Michigan-What Do You Know, Another Gray Day

Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2024-SW Michigan-What Do You Know, Another Gray Day

Currently 45 with an average wind from the SW of 6 mph. Feels like 44 degrees. Dew Point 39, Barometer 29.7, Humidity 77%, Visibility 7 mi., Sunrise 7:42 am, Sunset 5:14 pm.

100% chance of ain showers with a high in the upper 40s. W winds 10 increasing to 10-15 with gusts to 25.

70% chance of rain showers possibly mixed with snow showers. Little or no overnight accumulation expected. Low in the lower 30s. W winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20.

Could wake up to see a bit of snow on the ground but more likely we’ll see a little accumulation of it during the daylight hours tomorrow. 1-3″ perhaps. Knew the first snowfall of the season would come around sooner or later, but personally I’m always hoping for later. Much later. This won’t hang around all that long as Friday we’re expecting rain. As of right now the weekend is looking fairly dry and that sounds good. Next week is looking a bit messy on Monday but the worst so far to see is the chance of frozen mix on Thanksgiving. Figures. Give us a holiday and our weather system will figure out a way to screw it up for anyone on the road. We’ll see how it goes but hoping for better by the time the holiday rolls around.

Tuesday, Nov. 19. 2024-SW Michigan-Another Gray Sky Day

Tuesday, Nov. 19. 2024-SW Michigan-Another Gray Sky Day

Currently 55 with an average wind from the ENE of 2 mph. Feels like 55 degrees. Dew Point 55, Barometer  29.98, Humidity 100%, Visibility 5 mi., Sunrise 7:40 am, Sunset 5:15 pm.

100% chance of rain showers. High in the lower 60s. SE 10-15 mph becoming SW in the afternoon with gusts to 30.

Mostly cloudy with an overnight low in the lower 40s. W winds 5-10 in the evening becoming light.

We did get a bit of overnight rain. Not much but enough to leave a few puddles in the parking lot. Any is beneficial. Good thing ’cause it looks as if the chance for rain seems to appear in most of our coming up days. Right now, not on Sunday which is a rarity, but we’ll see how that goes. Peering far into the picture, there is the opportunity for a frozen mix on Thanksgiving Day. Swell! We can only hope that disappears from the scene. Nobody needs that. In the meantime, prepare to be on the damp side for a while.

Monday, Nov. 18, 2024-SW Michigan-Rain Will Hang Around

Monday, Nov. 18, 2024-SW Michigan-Rain Will Hang Around

Currently 42 with an average wind from the NE of 2 mph. Feels like 42 degrees. Dew Point 42, Barometer 30., Humidity 100%, Visibility 0.19 mi., Sunrise 7:39 am, Sunset 5:15 pm.

Dense Fog Advisory this morning.

Partly cloudy with widespread morning fog.. 50 % chance of afternoon rain. High in the mid 50s. Light wins becoming N 5-10 mph in the afternoon.

90% chance of overnight rain. Low in the upper 40s. E winds 5-15 mph increasing to 15-20 mph with gusts to 30.

Some areas are experiencing very dense fog this morning. This should dissipate later but very likely turn into rain. Once this rain begins, I’m thinking it will be with us all week long. Perhaps a few snowflakes could mingle in with the rain on Thursday, but for the rest of it, all rain. We do need the rain, but a week’s worth all at once does seem a bit much. Would be nice if some sunshine could be tucked in there once in a while, but alas…not to be. Going to be a dreary week ahead.

Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024-SW Michigan-Clouds With Cooling On The Way

Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024-SW Michigan-Clouds With Cooling On The Way

Mostly cloudy with a 30% chance of rain in the evening then clearing overnight. Low in the mid 30s. W winds 5-10 mph with gusts to around 20 in the evening becoming light.

A few more days in the 50 degree range but then we’re dropping. Looks like wintry weather is one the way. Looking more and more like Michigan November. I guess the only things we can do is enjoy – if that’s the word – the next couple of days and gear up for what’s on the way. Starting to see snow showers show up here and there in future forecasts.  Not liking it, but seeing it none-the-less.

Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024-SW Michigan-Nothing But Clouds

Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024-SW Michigan-Nothing But Clouds

Currently 48 with an average wind from the the E of 1 mph. Feels like 48 degrees. Dew Point 40, Humidity 73%, Barometer 30.19, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:37 am, Sunset 5:17 pm.

Partly cloudy becoming mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of overnight rain. Low in the lower 40s. S winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20.

Nothing like Michigan skies in the winter months. Nothing like it being flooded with sunlight for the most part, that’s for certain. No wonder we look forward to spring so much, we’re just hungry for the brightness of sunshine. Not that we don’t get a few bright days between then and now, but not nearly as many as we’d like – or need. In the meantime, look for a chance of rain moving in perhaps Sunday night and lasting for what looks like most of next week.

Friday, Nov. 15, 2024-SW Michigan-Colorless Sky Morning

Friday, Nov. 15, 2024-SW Michigan-Colorless Sky Morning

Currently 46 with an average wind from the W of 2. Feels like 46 degrees. Dew Point 46, Humidity 100%, Barometer 30.06, Visibility 8 mi., Sunrise 7:35 am, Sunset 5:18 pm.

Cloudy with patchy drizzle until about midday. High in the lower 50s. N W winds around 10 mph.

Mostly cloudy with a patchy overnight fog. Low in the upper 30s. Light winds.

Not a very pleasant morning out there again.  Sort of damp and drizzly but at least we aren’t getting snow yet. Anything is better than that. We do need rain as we’re technically in a drought situation – along with what seems to be the majority of the nation. We are moving into the season where much of that could and should be corrected. Some heavy rain would do that rather quickly but snow works, too. It simply has to fall and melt, which it has a habit of doing. Either way, if things go as usual, our bright sunny days will be dwindling. Clouds and gloom will be the name of our game for the most part. Today is certainly fitting in there right cozy.

Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024-SW Michigan-Gloomy Mid-Month Morning

Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024-SW Michigan-Gloomy Mid-Month Morning

Currently 44 with an average wind from the ENE of 3 mph. Feels like 40 degrees. Dew Point 44, Humidity 100%, Barometer 29.77, Visibility 6 mi., Sunrise 7:34 am, Sunset 5:19 pm.

90% chance of rain showers.  Low in the lower 40s. SE winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 25.

Mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of overnight rain. Low around 40. Light winds.

Not a pleasant day, a little on the chilly side. A good day to be inside, I reckon. Look for another chance for some rain on Sunday, as of now not a huge chance, but it is out there. Monday may clear out but not the rest of the week. Looking like a wet one.

Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024-SW Michigan-November Getting Ready To Change

Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024-SW Michigan-November Getting Ready To Change

Currently 40 with an average wind from the ENE of 3 mph. Feels like 40 degrees. Dew Point 34, Humidity 73%,  Barometer 30.24, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:33 am, Sunset 5:20 pm.

Mostly sunny morning becoming mostly cloudy afternoon. High in the upper 40s. SE 5-15 mph with gusts to around 25.

90% chance of overnight rain showers. Low in the lower 40s. SE winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 35.

We should be seeing a few 50 degree days over the weekend, but don’t be deceived. By the end of next week we will likely be in store for some mixed precipitation weather. Heading in that direction. Colder and more solid precipitation, factors that are in our future. Could be worse, could be there already so I reckon we’ll lucky. If we were really lucky, in my book, we’d be heading into spring rather than winter but alas…my book isn’t the one being readied for reading.

Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024-SW Michigan-Cool But Sunny Today

Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024-SW Michigan-Cool But Sunny Today

Currently 35 with an average wind from the NNE of 6 mph. Feels like 31 degrees. Dew Point 33, Humidity 90%, Barometer 30.36, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 5:21 am, Sunset 5:21 pm.

Sunny today with a high in the upper 40s. E winds 5-10 mph.

Mostly clear tonight with a  low in the upper 20s. E winds 5-10 mph.

Starting to feel like November with temperatures like today and tonight. Should be a bit warmer tomorrow and the rest of the week back into the 50s. Still looking at rain moving in by Sunday and lasting through next week. Lucky that for now it’s only rain and not snow. That will, unfortunately come all too soon. But not yet. Not here even though the Western part of the nation is getting massive snowfall already. We all know that eventually the jet stream is going to be bringing that stuff in our direction. We can wait. Willingly.
