Currently 19 with a 4 mph wind from the SSW. Feels like 19 degrees. Dew Point 17, Barometer 30.28, Humidity 88%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:45 am, Sunset 6:08 pm.

Partly cloudy becoming mostly cloudy with an overnight low near 15. NE winds 5-10 mph.

Winter Storm Watch in effect from Wednesday 1:00 pm through Thursday 7:00 am.  5-7″ of snow possible.

So far we only have a storm watch in effect. It does look as if Winter Storm Iliana will visit us but so far, not exactly how much snow will be left behind.  Thinking somewhere around 5″ is looking likely. I reckon by late Thursday we’ll be finding out. In the meantime, be watchful and prepared for what ever is coming.

Monday, Feb. 10, 2025-SW Michigan-Get Ready For Winter Storm Iliana

Monday, Feb. 10, 2025-SW Michigan-Get Ready For Winter Storm Iliana

Currently 19 with a 2 mph wind from the S. Feels like 19 degrees. Dew Point 18, Barometer 30.4, Humidity 86%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 7:47 am, Sunset 6:07 pm.

Partly cloudy this morning becoming  partly sunny in the afternoon. High in the upper 20s. W winds around 10 mph.

Partly cloudy becoming mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of overnight snow showers. Low 15-20. Light winds.

A few light snowflakes flying around this morning but shouldn’t see any this afternoon. In fact, we should see a bit of sunshine. Sounds lovely in spite of the fact that that brightness won’t do much toward warming us up. Perhaps a flake or two tomorrow but the thing to watch is Winter Storm Iliana which is coming in through our area late Wednesday into Thursday. We should get some significant snow from this one. Forecast prediction is anywhere from 3″ to 8″. Probably will be somewhere in the middle there, but do expect – as of now – to be coping with some shovelable snow.  Actually Iliana is the second storm on the move this week, but the first one, Winter Storm Harlow, is going to slide off to the south of us and should affect us at all. Iliana, on the other hand, very likely will affect us, so just be ready and prepared.

Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025-SW Michigan-20 Degree Days Continue

Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025-SW Michigan-20 Degree Days Continue

Currently 21 with a 3 mph average wind from the W. Feels like 14 degrees. Dew Point 15, Barometer 30.26, Humidity 75%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:48 am, Sunset 6:05 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of light snow showers until early afternoon. High in the mid 20s. NW winds 10-15 mph.

Partly cloudy. Low near 15. Light winds.

Our chilly days stretch on ahead of us for at the very least the next week. Not seeing any single day get out of the 20 degree range. A few days with some snow tossed in for good measure and our Michigan February winter keeps on rolling along. We could see a bit of sunshine tomorrow, but it’ll be a chilly brightness at best. Right now appears to be snow moving in about Wednesday and again next weekend. Wish there was something more cheery in store for us – and there will be – but just not real soon.

Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025-SW Michigan-Gray Skies, Possible Light Snow

Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025-SW Michigan-Gray Skies, Possible Light Snow

Currently 25 with an average wind from the NNE of 8 mph. Feels like 19 degrees. Dew Point 18, Barometer 30.03, Humidity 81%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:19 am, Sunset 6:04 pm.

60% chance of snow showers. 1″ or less expected. High around 30. E winds 5-10 mph with gusts to around 20.

70% chance of overnight snow showers. 1″ or less expected. Low in the mid 20s. N winds 5-10 mph becoming NW with gusts to 20.

No color at all in the sky to be excited about this morning unless you like the color gray. Look for the chance of some light snow later on and overnight. After that, I don’t see any more coming until starting around Wednesday. Then several days of it. Right now not seeing anything heavy. A rather dreary spate of February winter weather.

Friday, Feb. 7, 2025-SW Michigan-Cold Day In A Cold Month

Friday, Feb. 7, 2025-SW Michigan-Cold Day In A Cold Month

Currently 18 with an average wind from the SW of 2 mph. Feels like 12 degrees. Dew Point 14, Barometer 30.24, Humidity 81%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:50 am, Sunset 6:03 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of snow showers until midday then becoming partly sunny. High in the mid 20s. W winds 5-15 mph.

Mostly cloudy with an overnight low of 15-20 degrees. Light winds.

Darn cold out there this morning and looking ahead those are the numbers I’m seeing in our future. This will be a downright chilly month of February I’m thinking. Will make us even more appreciative when spring finally gets here. In the meantime, look for some snow on Saturday – not nearly as much as was predicted for us, but some anyway. Bundle up and think spring, that’s my advise for February survival. That’s my plan, anyway.

Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025-SW Michigan-Light Morning Snow

Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025-SW Michigan-Light Morning Snow

Currently 27 with an average wind from the SW of 1 mph. Feels like 18 degrees. Dew Point 26, Barometer 29.74, Humidity 100%, Visibility 7 mi., Sunrise 7:52 am, Sunset 6:01 pm

Cloudy until midday then becoming partly cloudy. High in the mid 30s. SW winds 5-15 mph with gusts to around 30 increasing to W 15-25 mph with gusts to around 40.

Partly cloudy with an overnight low 15-20. W winds 15-20 mph with gusts to 40.

Looking a lot like Winter Storm Freya has, as so many of these storms in the past, given us a pass. Some light snow this morning but none of the ice associated with this particular storm. And Winter Storm Garnett, coming along behind, is not a certainty as to how much snow we’re getting on Saturday. Could have been 3-5″ but very likely looking like a 1-3″. Maybe. For this one we just have to wait and see how it develops.

Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025-SW Michigan-We Should Miss Winter Storm Freya’s Ice

Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025-SW Michigan-We Should Miss Winter Storm Freya’s Ice

Currently 18 with an average wind from the NNE of 5 mph. Feels like 18 degrees. Dew Point 15, Barometer 30.36, Humidity 89%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:53 am, Sunset 6:00 pm.

Mostly cloudy today with a high in the upper 20s. E winds 5-10 mph.

70% chance of Snow showers developing. Should end up with 1″ or less. Low around 25. SE winds 5-15 mph.

Winter Storm Freya is bringing ice to many states to the south and east of us but we should be okay here. We’ll get some snow but then again, not that much I don’t think. The next storm coming through, Garnett, will bring us a better chance of  snow on Saturday. We could end up with 3 or 4″ from that one. We can cope with the snow, just feeling fortunate not to have to be dealing with the crippling ice. If we’re careful we can make it through the snow just fine. Making it through an ice storm is dangerous to even think about. Anyway, two storms almost back to back and our area should be okay except for the snow on Saturday. Just be careful and we alert.

Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025-SW Michigan-First Storm To Miss Us, Not The Second

Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025-SW Michigan-First Storm To Miss Us, Not The Second

Currently 23 with an average wind from the NW of 10 mph. Feels like 16 degrees. Dew Point 16, Barometer 30.34, Humidity 79%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:54 am, Sunset 5:59 pm,

Mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of isolated snow showers. High in the mid 20s. N winds 5-15 mph.

Mostly cloudy with an overnight low of 15-20 degrees. Light winds.

Okay, so Winter Storm Freya will be moving across the country bringing a great deal of mixed precipitation. Mostly in the ice category. Lucky for our area, once again the storm is going to go to the south of us. We won’t be seeing much from this one. There is a second storm coming which could impact us by Saturday with some accumulating snow. Might as well be ready just in case. In the meantime, we’ve chilled down again into the 20s although the next couple of days will be a tad warmer. Not much, but anything counts. Let’s just count ourselves fortunate we’re missing that widespread ice.

Monday, Feb. 3, 2025-SW Michigan-Temperature To Dip Again

Monday, Feb. 3, 2025-SW Michigan-Temperature To Dip Again

Currently 36 with an average wind from the NNE of 6 mph. Feels like 36 degrees. Dew Point 35, Barometer 29.84, Humidity 100%, Visibility 0.54 mi., Sunrise 7:55 am, Sunset 5:57 pm.

Cloudy with a 50% chance of rain. Dense areas of morning fog. high in the lower 40s. S winds around 10 mph becoming in the NW in the afternoon.

Mostly cloudy becoming partly cloudy with a low around 20. N winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20.

Today’s 40 degrees is the highest we’re going to have for some time. Dipping back into mostly the 20s. A few 30 degree days but those will likely bring us some sort of precipitation with it.  Like this coming Wednesday-carting along some wintry mix either during the daytime hours or overnight. Chilly February weather in the cards for us.

Sunday, Feb. 2025-SW Michigan-Some Snow, Some Fog

Sunday, Feb. 2025-SW Michigan-Some Snow, Some Fog

Currently 27 with an average wind from the ENE of 3 mph. Feels like 21 degrees. Dew Point 24, Barometer 29.97, Humidity 100%, Visibility 4 mi., Sunrise 7:56 am, Sunset 5:56 pm.

90% chance of snow until midday. Areas of fog through the day. High in the upper 30s. SE winds 5-15 mph with gusts to around 25 becoming SW 5-10 in the afternoon.

Cloudy with areas of fog through the night. A 20% chance of rain Low in the mid 30s. Light winds.

Some morning snow, but so far nothing too heavy.  The  fog might be hanging around with us for a while. Very likely going to be temperatures in the 40s tomorrow. Won’t last, but 40 degrees with maybe some rain might be refreshing. Back to reality with 30 degrees and possible frozen mix by Wednesday. It is February after all, which means we could be getting something of everything.
