Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024-SW Michigan-Dreary Sunday Weather

Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024-SW Michigan-Dreary Sunday Weather

Currently 36 with an average wind from the NE of 3 mph. Feels like 34 degrees. Dew Point 35, Barometer 30.2, Humidity 100%, Visibility 0.5 mi., Sunrise 8:07 am, Sunset 5:09 pm.

Cloudy with a 40% chance of rain showers. Patchy fog through the day. High in the lower 40s. SE winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20.

Cloudy with a 40% chance of overnight rain showers. Low in the upper 30s. Light winds becoming S 5-10 mph.

What a dreary little day this is. Not complaining ’cause it could be so much worse. December in Michigan? We could be trying to survive through a blizzard. Nothing like that in our immediate future. In fact, tomorrow could see a temperature in the upper 40s. That won’t last, but nothing severe in the coming picture either. Looks like alternating days with some being merely cloudy, some bringing some sort of precipitation. Not making any bets on a White Christmas here this year. Again, as for me, not complaining.

Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024-SW Michigan-Watch For Evening Freezing Rain

Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024-SW Michigan-Watch For Evening Freezing Rain

Currently 18 with an average wind from the NE of 5 mph. Feels like 9 mph. Dew Point 17, Barometer 30.66, Humidity 95%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:06 am, Sunset 5:08 pm.

Partly cloudy becoming mostly cloudy. High in the lower 30s. E winds 5-15 mph with gusts to around 25.

100% chance of a mix of rain and freezing rain – changing to all rain overnight. Low in the upper 20s. SE winds 10-15 mph with gusts to around 25.

Today should be clear but be cautious later today and into the evening hours. Roads could get slippery with freezing rain falling before turning to all rain. Or, at least that is hope, that it becomes plain rain and not of the freezing variety during the night. At any rate, be careful early tonight and early tomorrow as not certain what you could be driving on. Fairly comfortable temperatures this week before falling back into the 20s next weekend. This coming Monday could even find us in the upper 40s. Only one day of it, but hey…we’ll take what we can get as far as a break from winter’s coldest.

Friday, Dec. 13, 2024-SW Michigan-Bit Of Sun Today, Maybe Tomorrow

Friday, Dec. 13, 2024-SW Michigan-Bit Of Sun Today, Maybe Tomorrow

Currently 14 with an average wind from the NE of 1 mph. Feels like 14 degrees. Dew Point 10, Barometer 30.62, Humidity 69%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:05 am, Sunset 5:08 pm.

Partly sunny until midday then mostly clearing.  Scattered flurries possible. High in the lower 20s. Light winds.

Partly cloudy with a low 10-15 degrees. E winds around 10 mph with gusts to 20 overnight.

It’s refreshing to see some sunshine. It doesn’t warm the temperature up any on days like this, but it does wonders for the spirit.  Things will be warming up a bit – not an enormous degree, but enough to make a difference on whether we’re avoiding going outside as much as possible to oh yeah…we can do this. Look for some rain off and on during this next week. Don’t be surprised to see some of that be freezing rain, but if that comes about it shouldn’t last long. Not the best weather coming up but so much better than this bitter cold blast of winter we’ve just been forced to live through.

Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024-SW Michigan-Very Cold Weather Through Tonight

Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024-SW Michigan-Very Cold Weather Through Tonight

Currently 12 with an average wind from the SW of 5 mph. feels like 3 degrees. Dew Point 13, Barometer 30.22, Humidity 100%, Visibility 5 mi., Sunrise 8:05 am, Sunset 5:08 pm.

60% chance of additional snow showers likely. 1″ or less expected. High near 17. W winds 10-15 mph.

Cloudy early tonight then partial clearing. Very cold. Low near 8 degrees. NW winds 5-10 mph.

Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 7:00 pm today.

There’s no escaping the fact that it’s bitter cold out there. Tonight will be worse. Look for at least a peek at the sun tomorrow and then rain for the next several days. Ought to take out a lot of this snow. But in the meantime, take care if you must be out and about today. I’m sure another cold front will come through eventually this winter – it’s bound to. But this one is tough enough to get through. So just be careful and stay safe.

Currently 30 with an average wind from the SSW of 5 mph. Feels like 27 degrees. Dew Point 27, Barometer 29.8, Humidity 95%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 8:04 am, Sunset 5:08 pm.

Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 7:00 pm Thursday. 3-5″ with 35 mph winds.

As of yesterday, this snow wasn’t supposed to start until later today. Wrong! Been snow showering every since I got up this morning.  At least the total snow prediction from this particular system has been lowered. A few days ago it was sounding downright ferocious. Any snow is dangerous when our roads get covered, but lots of inches less than forecast to be shoveling isn’t a bad thing. We could see a peek of the sun on Friday – this sounds like the only opportunity, so if it happens, enjoy it. I know I will.

Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2024-SW Michigan-Snow On The Way

Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2024-SW Michigan-Snow On The Way

Currently 37 with an average wind from the WNW of 1 mph. Feels like 37 degrees. Dew Point 35, Barometer 29.86, Humidity 86%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:03 am, Sunset 5:08 pm.

Winter Storm Watch in effect from 7:00 am Wednesday through 7:00 pm Thursday. 3-6″ of snow, strong winds expected.

Cloudy with a 20% chance of afternoon rain. High in the upper 30s. Light winds.

Cloudy with a 50% chance of snow showers. Low in the upper 20s. W winds 5-10 mph.

Looks like a storm system heading out way. My little area seems to escape the big snows – or has so far – but we won’t be able to get around the cold temperatures coming along with it. Thursday will be downright cold. Friday will warm up a tad and take us back into what we can call comfortable this time of year by the weekend. The snow will likely transition over to rain for the weekend. At any rate, not many dry days ahead for us. Just pay attention to the weather and keep your winter caution on hand.

Monday, Dec. 9, 2024-SW Michigan-Drizzle Rain This Morning

Monday, Dec. 9, 2024-SW Michigan-Drizzle Rain This Morning

Currently 46 with an average wind from the SSW of 3 mph. Feels like 45 degrees. Dew Point 46, Barometer 29.02, Humidity 100%, Visibility 4 mi., Sunrise 8:02 am, Sunset 5:07 pm

Cloudy with a 50% chance of morning rain with a partly cloudy afternoon. High in the mid 40s. SW winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 25.

Partly cloudy with a low in the lower 30s. W winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20 in the evening.

Rather dreary weather for a while. Look for snow showers through Thursday with so far what looks like a dry day on Friday. The weekend isn’t looking good as far as dry weather, in fact Saturday may bring us that dread frozen mix stuff. Just a messy batch of weather for us right now.

Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024-SW Michigan-Some Welcome Sunshine

Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024-SW Michigan-Some Welcome Sunshine

Currently 43 with an average wind from the S of 1 mph. Feels like 43 degrees. Dew Point 38, Barometer 29.8, Humidity 76%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:01 am, Sunset 5:07 pm.

Partly cloudy with a high in the mid 40s.  Light winds becoming S 5 mph in the afternoon.

70% chance of overnight rain showers. Low in the mid 30s. SE winds 5-10 mph.

A nice break in the clouds allowing that bright sunshine to pour down on us. Temperature is in a comfortable zone right now, too. Both more than welcome. Look for some rain or snow showers off and on all next week. So far nothing drastic in the picture – could change but not seeing it at present. Just enjoy this lovely day for now.

Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024-SW Michigan-Not As Chilly But Still Cloudy

Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024-SW Michigan-Not As Chilly But Still Cloudy

Currently 30 with an average wind from the SSE of 4 mph. Feels like 25 degrees. Dew Point 26, Barometer 29.99, Humidity 89%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:00 am, Sunset 5:07 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a high round 40. SW winds 5-15 mph increasing to 15-25 with gusts to 30 in the afternoon.

Mostly cloudy with an overnight low around 30. SW winds 15-20 becoming W  5-15 mph in the afternoon.

Not nearly as chilly as it’s been but every bit as gloomy and sunless. Most days in the coming week will be in the comfortable range – if one can consider somewhere in the 30 degrees comfortable. Only one chilly day supposedly in the forecast, probably around Thursday when it might dip down into the 20s. Either rain or snow showers could put in an appearance most days. Nothing drastic, but dreary. That’s okay, we don’t have to shovel dreary.

Friday, Dec. 6, 2024-SW Michigan-Prepare For Welcome Warm Up

Friday, Dec. 6, 2024-SW Michigan-Prepare For Welcome Warm Up

Currently 27 with an average wind from the SSW of 3 mph. Feels like 21 degrees. Dew Point 20, Barometer 30.22, Humidity 77%, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:59 am, Sunset 5:08 pm.

Partly cloudy with a 20% chance of afternoon snow showers. High in the upper 20s, W winds 5-15 mph with gusts to around 30.

Partly cloudy with an overnight low in the lower 20s. W winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20 in the evening becoming light.

Not much chance for precipitation until Sunday night, which then will be rain as our temperatures will have risen considerably. The rain will last though Monday and transition into snow for the next two days. But no severe cold in the forecast for the present. Not an unwelcome turn of events for most of us.  By the end of next week we’ll see a few pretty cold days again, but in the meantime, enjoy the break from the harsh chill while we have it going for us.
