Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2024-SW Michigan-Cloudy Christmas Eve Day Weather

Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2024-SW Michigan-Cloudy Christmas Eve Day Weather

Currently 32 with a calm wind from the NNE. Feels like 32 degrees. Dew Point 27, Barometer 30.31, Humidity 82%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:12 am, Sunset 5:13 pm

Mostly cloudy with a high in the lower 30s. Light winds.

Mostly cloudy overnight with a low in the mid 20s. Light winds.

No precipitation expected today or tomorrow – in fact we could even see a peek of the sun on Christmas Day. Look for rain after that from Friday through the weekend – but with very comfortable temperatures. Quite a break in what could be Michigan Christmas weather. No white Christmas unless you count the left over snow – nothing new coming. At any rate, the roads shouldn’t be dreadful for all those last minute shoppers out and about today – or for those traveling to Christmas gatherings tomorrow.

Monday, Dec. 23, 2024-SW Michigan-Could Get Messy Weather

Monday, Dec. 23, 2024-SW Michigan-Could Get Messy Weather

Currently 30 with an average wind from the SSE of 3 mph. Feels like 25 degrees. Dew Point 26, Barometer 30.08, Humidity  80%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 8:11 am, Sunset 5:12 pm.

90% chance of freezing rain with snow mixed. Maybe sleet. In other words a mess. High in the mid 30s.S winds 5-15 mph.

Mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of freezing rain and snow in the evening. Low in the upper 20s. W winds around 10 mph in the evening becoming light.

Right now, the last time I was outside, there is a very fine mist in the air. Not constantly, just off and on. Something is up but I guess we have to wait and see what it turns in to. Couldn’t be at a worse time with everyone out and about tending to last minute tasks. If you must be out there, do keep an eye on the weather and be cautious. Our temperature – after Christmas will gradually rise up until we’re in the 40s again for a few days – before it crashes again right after the first of the year. Seems to be one of those up and down winters.

Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024-SW Michigan-Bitter Cold Today, Wintry Mix Tomorrow

Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024-SW Michigan-Bitter Cold Today, Wintry Mix Tomorrow

Currently 18 with an average wind from the E of 2 mph. Feels like 18 degrees. Dew Point 13, Barometer 30.41, Humidity 91%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:11 am, Sunset 5;12 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of overnight snow showers. Low in the lower 20s. S winds 5-10 mph.

This has been one cold weekend! Tomorrow won’t be as cold but could jolly well bring us a mess on the roads. There is a chance of snow/rain/wintry mix…whatever Mother Nature decides to dump on us. The weather is looking dry after that, but we could be dealing with Monday’s mess for a while. It all depends on what we get. These days before Christmas are always super busy with people out and about shopping, so hopefully things won’t be too bad to start it all off. We’ll see how it goes.

Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024-SW Michigan-Very Cold Weekend

Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024-SW Michigan-Very Cold Weekend

Currently 21 with an average wind from the WNW of 5 mph. Feels like 21 degrees. Dew Point 13, Barometer 30.41, Humidity 72%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:10 am, Sunset 5:11 pm.

Partly cloudy with a high in the mid 20s. N winds 5-10 mph.

Mostly clear with an overnight low of 5-10 degrees. Light winds.

Make no mistake about it, any sunshine you see today will fail miserably at warming things up. This is a bitter cold couple of days. Things warm up back into the 30s by Monday, but Monday may bring some rain or snow or a mix…no ground rules have been laid out  yet. Not exactly. Expect dry days after that through Christmas.

Friday, Dec. 20, 2024-SW Michigan-Oh, We Got Snow

Friday, Dec. 20, 2024-SW Michigan-Oh, We Got Snow

Currently 27 with an average wind from the SSE of 7 mph. Feels like 19 degrees, Dew Point 26, Barometer 30.07, Humidity 100%, Visibility 8 mi., Sunrise 8:10 am, Sunset 5:10 pm.

70% chance of snow showers. High in the lower 30s. N winds 10-25 with gusts to 25.

Partly cloudy with a low 15-20. N winds 5-10 mph with gusts up to 20 in the evening.

This particular Clipper System managed to leave a reminder of what it was all about measuring around 4 1/2″ of snow in my backyard. Now we can expect the cold temperatures, which will be here over the weekend. Saturday and Sunday will very likely offer us some sunshine, but that will be offset by the frigid temperatures. Monday could bring a chance of rain or snow, but the rest of the week will be coming along with temperatures too warm for any snow for Christmas. Better luck next year, I guess.

Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024-SW Michigan-Expect A Little Snow

Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024-SW Michigan-Expect A Little Snow

Currently 28 with an average wind from the NE of 4 mph. Feels like 28 degrees. Dew Point 25, Barometer 30.3, Humidity 92%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:09 am, Sunset 5:10 pm.

70 % chance of snow showers. 1″ or less expected. High in the lower 30s. SE winds around 10 mph with gusts to 20 in the afternoon.

90% chance of snow showers. 1-3″ possible. Low in the upper 20s. E winds 5-10 mph.

As of now, it looks like we might just get clipped by this quick moving Alberta Clipper System. Not expecting a ton of snow from this and it won’t last long anyway. Couple days of snow showers but then by the weekend – which should give us some sunshine – we’ll be in some mighty cold numbers. The weekend before Christmas is always a busy one, but you will need to bundle up while you’re out and about.

Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024-SW Michigan-Get Ready For Canadian Clipper System

Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024-SW Michigan-Get Ready For Canadian Clipper System

Currently 34 with an average wind from the NW of 6 mph. Feels like 34 degrees. Dew Point 30, Barometer 30.17, Humidity 88%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:09 am, Sunset 5:10 pm.

Cloudy with a 50% chance of snow showers. High in the mid 30s. N winds around 10 mph.

Mostly cloudy with a 20 % chance of snow showers in the evening becoming partly cloudy overnight. Low in the mid 20s. NW winds 10 mph.

No way out of it, we seem to be in the path of a quick moving Canadian Clipper system. Look for snow, then wind, then cold. Never fear, however, we will come out of it at the other end into more comfortable temperatures. 30s, 40s…looks like a lot of rain coming Christmas week. I know many would like that to be snow but for now it doesn’t look like this will be the picture.

Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024-SW Michigan-Calm Weather Today

Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024-SW Michigan-Calm Weather Today

Currently 37 with an average wind of 3 mph from the WSW. Feels like 32 degrees. Dew Point 32, Barometer 30.12, Humidity 87%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:08 am, Sunset 5:09 pm.

Cloudy with a high in the upper 30s. W winds 5-15 mph with gusts to around 30 until midday.

60% chance of overnight snow showers. Less than 1″ expected. Low in the lower 30s. Light winds.

Nothing in store for today beyond about what you see this morning. A clipper system in on the way which will be bringing us some snow through Friday and some very cold temperatures for the weekend. After that things will level out somewhat bringing us temperatures that could be in the upper 30s, perhaps lower 40s. Don’t be looking for any snow for Christmas. Not this year. So far it doesn’t look as if it’s a likelihood.

Monday, Dec. 16, 2024-SW Michigan-Drizzle And Fog Today

Monday, Dec. 16, 2024-SW Michigan-Drizzle And Fog Today

Currently 46 with an average wind from the SE of 5 mph. Feels like 45 degrees. Dew Point 46, Barometer 29.89, Humidity 100%, Visibility 2.1 mi., Sunrise 8:07 am, Sunset 5:09 pm.

90% chance of drizzle with fog throughout the day. High in the upper 40s. S winds 5-10 becoming SW 5-15 in the afternoon with gusts to around 25.

30% chance of overnight rain with evening fog. Low in the lower 30s. W winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 30.

A dreary little Monday this time around. Drizzle coming along as a light mist in the air. At least it isn’t snow. In fact, none today, nor tomorrow. However, the chance of snow showers returns on Wednesday and hangs around until about Sunday. Right now it’s not looking like a white Christmas for our area. Could see temperatures close to or into the lower 40s. Never fear, the cold and snow will without a doubt return to us, just likely not in time for a postcard Christmas this year. Fine with me, but I know not so much for many others. Alas…all we can do is cope with what we get ’cause we don’t have much say in it.

Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024-SW Michigan-Dreary Sunday Weather

Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024-SW Michigan-Dreary Sunday Weather

Currently 36 with an average wind from the NE of 3 mph. Feels like 34 degrees. Dew Point 35, Barometer 30.2, Humidity 100%, Visibility 0.5 mi., Sunrise 8:07 am, Sunset 5:09 pm.

Cloudy with a 40% chance of rain showers. Patchy fog through the day. High in the lower 40s. SE winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20.

Cloudy with a 40% chance of overnight rain showers. Low in the upper 30s. Light winds becoming S 5-10 mph.

What a dreary little day this is. Not complaining ’cause it could be so much worse. December in Michigan? We could be trying to survive through a blizzard. Nothing like that in our immediate future. In fact, tomorrow could see a temperature in the upper 40s. That won’t last, but nothing severe in the coming picture either. Looks like alternating days with some being merely cloudy, some bringing some sort of precipitation. Not making any bets on a White Christmas here this year. Again, as for me, not complaining.
