Going to start getting a bit cooler every day. Soon we’ll be in the 30s. Quite a bit of difference from the past week. Could even be looking at a bit of snow on this coming Sunday.  Bound to happen, but it’s been so comfortable for this time of year.

Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2023-SW Michigan-Mild Temperatures Continue For Now

Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2023-SW Michigan-Mild Temperatures Continue For Now

Currently 52 with a 2 mph wind from the WNW. Feels like 52 degrees. Dew Point 46, Barometer 29.98, Humidity 97%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 8:12 am, Sunset 5:13 pm.

Mostly cloudy in the evening becoming partly cloudy. Low in the lower 30s. W winds around 5 mph.

Slightly foggy again this morning with puddles here and there left over from an overnight rain. Hard to believe 50 degree weather in Michigan at the end of December, but here we are. For a few days anyway, a good 20 of those degrees will be shaved off by the end of the week, which will put us back into a more normal range for our weather. The is a small possibility that a bit of rain at the end of the week could turn into a bit of snow, but that’s not for sure. In the meantime, feels and looks totally unlike December out there for now.

Monday, Dec. 25, 2023-SW Michigan-Mild Christmas Day For Us

Monday, Dec. 25, 2023-SW Michigan-Mild Christmas Day For Us

Currently 50 with a 6 mph wind from the SE. Feels like 50 degrees. Dew Point 47, Barometer 30.1, Humidity 97%, Visibility 7 mi., Sunrise 8:12 am, Sunset 5:13 pm.

100% chance of overnight rain showers. Patch fog. Low in the upper 40s. SE winds 10-15 mph.

This is an unusual stretch of weather for Michigan Christmas. Our temperatures will remain in the 50 degree range for a few more days and then they will start to drop. By the end of the week we’ll be down in the 30 degree range. Personally, I’ve enjoyed this mild, snow-less Christmas but I realize not all folks have. Never fear. Snow will be on the way before we know it. Bound to happen sooner or later – later this year, but once in awhile that happens. Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas Day – even without the wished for snow.

Sunday, Dec. 24, 2023-SW Michigan-More Dense Fog

Sunday, Dec. 24, 2023-SW Michigan-More Dense Fog

Currently 48 with a 2 mph wind from the SE. Feels like 45 degrees. Dew Point 45, Barometer 30.25, Humidity 100%, Visibility 0.17 mi., Sunrise 8:11 am, Sunset 5:12 pm.

Mostly cloudy with widespread fog. Slight chance of overnight drizzle. Low in the mid 40s. SE winds 5-15 mph.

Another really foggy day. Out and about this morning and ran into some areas with light fog and on into another area with heavy, thick fog. Tricky driving this morning. I’m thinking we’re going to be getting more fog tonight and tomorrow so I imagine there will be tons of references to Rudolph’s Shiny Red Nose. Thank goodness Santa has the help to make it through. Anyway, no white Christmas for us this year, only a foggy one.  I realize most do appreciate a nice cold snow on Christmas. Not being one of them, I’m enjoying the mild temperatures. Last year was different, I’m sure next year will have it’s own flavor, but this one suits me fine.

Merry Christmas Eve Day to one and all.

Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023-SW Michigan-Dense Fog Today

Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023-SW Michigan-Dense Fog Today

Currently 45 with a calm wind from the SSW. Feels like 43 degrees. Dew Point 43, Barometer 30.14, Humidity 100%, Visibility 0.25 mi., Sunrise 8:11 am, Sunset 5:12 pm.

Dense Fog Alert until 7:00 pm.

Cloudy with a 30% chance of rain showers. Widespread dense fog through early afternoon. High in the upper 40s. Light winds.

Cloudy with areas of overnight fog. Low in the upper 30s. Light winds.

A day to be careful driving around. This fog is thick making visibility difficult. Look for a chance of some rain showers. Tomorrow looks to be dry – but I wouldn’t be ruling out fog again. Rain coming in this week and no snow mentioned until around the end of the week. Luck of the draw we could end up with New Year’s snow – just in time for people who shouldn’t be out driving to be driving on slick roads. I’m hoping that doesn’t end up being the case.

Friday, Dec. 22, 2023-SW Michigan-Looks Like Lots Of Rain In The Forecast

Friday, Dec. 22, 2023-SW Michigan-Looks Like Lots Of Rain In The Forecast

Currently 41 with a 3 mph wind from the S. Feels like 36 degrees. Dew Point 36, Barometer 30.14, Humidity 89%, Visibility 6 mi., Sunrise 8:10 am, Sunset 5:11 pm.

100% chance of overnight rain showers. Low in the upper 30s. SE winds 5-10 mph becoming light.

Plenty of clouds but no rain this morning. Appears as if that will definitely move in tonight, probably tomorrow and except for Sunday about every day next week. This leaves us a rainy Christmas Day. If you’re among the late Christmas shoppers best take an umbrella this year.

Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023-SW Michigan-Shortest Day Will At Least Be Dry

Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023-SW Michigan-Shortest Day Will At Least Be Dry

Currently 32 with a 4 mph wind from the ESE. Feels like 23 degrees. Dew Point 29, Barometer 30.41, Humidity 90%, Visibility 8 mi., Sunrise 8:10 am, Sunset 5:10 pm.

Cloudy. High in the upper 30s. E winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20 until about midday.

Cloudy overnight with a 30% chance of rain showers. Low in the mid 30s. SE winds 5-10 mph.

From today on, it’s all good. At least for me. We may only gain a second or a minute at a time, but gradually our days will get longer, the nights shorter and we’ll end up with more sun than clouds. Eventually. But now we’re heading in the right direction.

Today will be dry, and maybe Sunday, but look for rain most every other day for the coming week. Christmas Day will be a rainy one for us. No snow this year, but who knows what next year will bring? May be a White Christmas then. And we all know we’ll be getting snow soon. We have January and February ahead of us and we can count on snow showing up during those months. Just not this Christmas. Be merry anyway. Just with an umbrella handy rather than a snow shovel.

Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023-SW Michigan-No Rain Today Or Tomorrow

Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023-SW Michigan-No Rain Today Or Tomorrow

Currently 36 with a 3 mph wind from the SSW. Feels like 30 degrees. Dew Point 24, Barometer 30.35, Humidity 66%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:09 am, Sunset 5:10 pm.

Mostly cloudy until midday then clearing. High in the upper 30s. S winds 5-10 mph becoming light.

Partly cloudy overnight. Low in the upper 20s. L winds becoming E 5-10 mph.

Looks like dry weather now for a few days.  Rain could set in for Friday and Saturday. So far, Sunday is looking dry. Unfortunately not Monday, Christmas day. We won’t be looking at snow this year, but rain. Different from last year, but then every year is different and unpredictable.

Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023-SW Michigan-Cold Snow On The Ground

Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023-SW Michigan-Cold Snow On The Ground

Currently 32 with a 2 mph wind from the WNW. Feels like 25 degrees. Dew Point 20, Barometer 30.25, Humidity 70%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:09 am, Sunset 5:10 pm

Mostly cloudy today with a high in the mid 30s. SW winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 20 increasing to 30 in the afternoon.

Partly cloudy in the evening then becoming mostly cloudy. Low in the upper 20s. SW winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 30 in the evening.

Hopefully no more snow coming but the stuff on the ground isn’t going anywhere right now. Our temperatures should warm up into the 40 degree range eventually, with rain coming around Christmas, but not seeing anymore snow for the time being. Unless things chance, the entire week after Christmas is looking like one rainy day after another. We all know how quickly things can change but for now that’s our future picture.

Monday, Dec. 18, 2023-SW Michigan-Snow Showers Today

Monday, Dec. 18, 2023-SW Michigan-Snow Showers Today

Currently 36 with an average wind of 11 mph from the W. Feels like 21 degrees. Dew Point 30, Barometer 29.64, Humidity 100%, Visibility 2.1 mi., Sunrise 8:08 am, Sunset 5:09.

Windy. Patchy blowing snow until midday. 90% chance of snow showers today. 1-2″ possible. High in the lower 30s. NW winds 15-25 with gusts to 45.

Mostly cloudy to partly cloudy. Low in the lower 20s. NW winds 15-25 with gusts to 40 decreasing to 10-15 mph with gusts to 30 overnight.

Yes, we have snow today, but it won’t last. In fact, the way it looks we won’t have a snowy White Christmas as much as a rainy, wet Christmas. Precipitation is in the future but our temperatures are expected to stay up high enough to preclude snow – after today, anyway. For those who enjoy snow, I’m sure today is looking fine. For me? Not so much. Just looking forward to it being gone. And if I had my druthers – which I don’t – it would stay gone.
