Light winds becoming S 5-15 mph with gusts to 25.A proper and enjoyable thunderstorm last night has left us with pleasant temperatures for today. Look for more rain tonight and tomorrow, but don’t bother looking for that smothering heat to be returning  right yet. Should stay agreeable with some of our night time temperatures making sleep comfortable with some windows open for fresh air.

Sunday, June 23, 2024-SW Michigan-Cloudy And Cooler Today

Sunday, June 23, 2024-SW Michigan-Cloudy And Cooler Today

Currently 68 with an average wind from the W of 12 mph. Feels like 68 degrees. Dew Point 64, Barometer 29.7, Humidity 87%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:04 am, Sunset 9:25 pm.

Mostly cloudy morning becoming mostly sunny afternoon. High in the mid 70s. NW winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 25.

Mostly clear with a low in the mid 50s. NW winds around 10 mph with gusts to 20 in the evening.

Much cooler today after a substantial thunderstorm last night. Look for rain again about Tuesday and perhaps next Saturday. Peering far into the future, next Sunday is looking, for now, to be another winner like this one. Fingers crossed on that. No 90 degree days in view for now and that’s a blessing.

Saturday, June 22, 2024-SW Michigan-Possible Severe Weather Later

Saturday, June 22, 2024-SW Michigan-Possible Severe Weather Later

Currently 79 with an average wind from the S of 8 mph. Feels like 81 degrees. Dew Point 69, Barometer 29.89, Humidity 69%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:04 am, Sunset 9:25 pm.

90% chance of overnight showers and thunderstorms. Some storms could be severe. Low in the mid 60s. SW winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 25.

Wouldn’t be much of a surprise if we didn’t end up with some severe weather later today or into the evening hours. It’s going to cool down considerable tomorrow compared to what we’ve been dealing with. Heat will more or less return by Tuesday, resulting in some more rain. Not looking for more 90 degree days right away, but we will be in the 80s next week for the most part.

Friday, June 21, 2024-SW Michigan-Some Storm Activity Yesterday

Friday, June 21, 2024-SW Michigan-Some Storm Activity Yesterday

Currently 77 with an average wind from the East of 4 mph. Feels like 77 degrees. Dew Point 70, Barometer 30.24, Humidity 96%, Visibility 1.5 mi., Sunrise 6:03 am, Sunset 9:25 pm.

Partly sunny until about midday becoming mostly sunny. High in the upper 80s. 50% chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Light winds. Heat Index to 97.

Partly cloudy with a 20% chance of overnight showers and thunderstorms. Low in the lower 70s. Light winds.

Well, late yesterday becoming a little more active than anyone wanted. Storm system rolled through bringing some wind, rain and a small tornado or two. There is a slight chance for severe weather to pop up between now and Sunday morning. As of now, Sunday is looking fine as that high pressure dome is trying to drop down a tad leaving us out of most of the brutal heat. A welcome move on the part of the jet stream.  Next week is looking better as so far no 90 degree numbers are showing up. Something else welcome for most of us.

Thursday, June 20, 2024-SW Michigan-Possible Heavy Rain Later

Thursday, June 20, 2024-SW Michigan-Possible Heavy Rain Later

Currently 79 with an average wind from the ENE of 5 mph. Feels like 79 degrees. Dew Point 71, Barometer 30.3, Humidity 72%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:03 am, Sunset 9:25 pm.

Mostly sunny with a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms. High in the upper 80s. Light winds becoming N around 6 mph. Heat index to 97.

Mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of showers and a thunderstorms. Patchy overnight fog. Low in the upper 60s. Light winds.

There is a chance we could get a heavy rainfall later today. And with a low in the 60s, this might be a good night to open up some windows and get some fresh air in the place. Unless you’re like me and you’ve had a window sort of open all the way through this heat. No matter what, I have a window in my upstairs bedroom open. Not real wide, but wide enough for the cat to sit on a stool and get her little face in position to watch the nighttime activity. I know. I know. I’ve heard it all. But I have to have some fresh air or I start to feel trapped or claustrophobic or smothered or something.  Doesn’t have to be much – just some. Anyway, look for the possibility of rain tomorrow, too and it will be a bit warmer than today.

Wednesday June 19, 2024-SW Michigan-Heat And Chances Of Rain

Wednesday June 19, 2024-SW Michigan-Heat And Chances Of Rain

Currently 82 with an average wind from the SW of 12 mph. Feels like 86 degrees. Dew Point 69, Barometer 30.2, Humidity 74%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:03 am, Sunset 9:21 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a high in the lower 90s. SW winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 25. Heat Index to 98.

Partly cloudy with a 30% chance of overnight showers and thunderstorms. Low in the upper 60s. Light winds.

The high pressure dome continues to meander along to the north of us. This is allowing the southern heat to use us as a playground. Various sights indicate a chance for some rain tomorrow, Friday, Saturday, but leaving Sunday dry. Others are not so sure about the next few days but insist on tossing rain in for Sunday. I reckon we  just wait and see. All the while keeping that A/C cranking ’cause no matter, between now and Saturday, it’s going to be hot. Will be cooling into the 80s after that, which will seem fairly refreshing. What ever comes along, it’s a Michigan summer – one a tad on the toasty side this year. Beats snow, ice and blustery winds. For most of us.

Tuesday, June 18, 2024-SW Michigan-Hot Weather To Continue

Tuesday, June 18, 2024-SW Michigan-Hot Weather To Continue

Currently 81 with a 12 mph wind from the S. Feels like 86. Dew Point 69, Barometer 30.03, Humidity 74%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:03 am, Sunset 9:24 pm

Heat Advisory continues through Friday.

Partly sunny today with a 30% chance of rain and thunderstorms High in the lower 90s. S winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 25. Heat index to 100.

Partly cloudy overnight with a low in the mid 70s. S winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 25.

A bit of a micro-burst last evening around 7:00. Sudden wind whipping the trees around and a heavy, but brief, rainfall. It did manage to knock the heat down a few degrees, which was welcome. This whole week is going to be a hot one with the chance of rain popping up now and then. Just enough to help keep that humidity in play. Could see some rain on Thursday or Friday and very possibly over the weekend. The temperature seems as if it’s going to come back down into the 80s the beginning of next week. Trouble is our nighttime temperatures aren’t dropping down much, which doesn’t allow for much of a relief from the heat. Hang in there. Keep watching the weather and stay cool.

Monday, June 17, 2024-SW Michigan-Could Be Worse This Week

Monday, June 17, 2024-SW Michigan-Could Be Worse This Week

Currently 77 with an average wind from the S of 12 mph. Feels like 77 degrees. Dew Point 69, Barometer 29.98, Humidity 79%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:03 am, Sunset 9:24 pm.

Sunny with a 30% chance of rain and thunderstorms in the afternoon. High in the lower 90s. SW winds 5-15 mph with gusts to around 25. Heat Index to 99 today.

Partly cloudy with a 30% chance of overnight rain and thunderstorms. Low in the lower 70s. S winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20.

Things as of now look like it won’t be quite as bad as it could have been this week. I don’t see anything approaching upwards to 100 showing up for us as was predicted. That’s how fast things can change. No question about it, we’ll still be hot, dwelling in the 90s most days. But just last week it was looking like we’d be living in the outskirts of Hades. Look for some rain next weekend. As of now anyway that’s the scenario.  In the meantime, stay as cool as possible and keep your body hydrated during our heat wave. Thinking this summer is shaping up to be a steamy one all the way through, so might as well get used to the heat and learn to live in it safely.

Sunday, June 16, 2024-SW Michigan-Careful Of Heat Excess This Week

Sunday, June 16, 2024-SW Michigan-Careful Of Heat Excess This Week

Currently 75 with a 4 mph wind from the SSE. Feels like 75 degrees. Dew Point 75 Barometer 30.04, Humidity 48%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:02 am, Sunset 9:23 pm.

Mostly sunny with a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms. High in the 80s. S 10-15 mph with gusts to around 30.

Partly cloudy with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms.  Low around 70. S winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 25.

A very slight chance of rain today. Mostly what we have is the beginning of a hot week of 90 degree days. There is an Excessive Heat Watch through Friday. The Jet Stream wandered way to the north, leaving us undefended from the high pressure building from the south. We are destined to be getting a taste of what states like Louisiana contend with all summer long. This is a week to pay attention and stay safe. Keep hydrated and either in A/C places or if you must be outside, keep to or get to shaded areas often.  Look for rain next weekend, which should knock us out of the 90 degree days into the 80s. That should feel downright refreshing after managing to get though this week. At any rate, be careful of this brutal heat coming our way. And if you get a chance, check in with older folk or those without A/C. You may just save a life. Because this kind of heat can certainly take it away.

Saturday, June 15, 2024-SW Michigan-Heat To Build Starting Tomorrow

Saturday, June 15, 2024-SW Michigan-Heat To Build Starting Tomorrow

Currently 70 with an average wind from the SE of 8 mph. Feels like 70 degrees. Dew Point 51, Barometer 30.2, Humidity 51%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:02 am, Sunset 9:23 pm.

Sunny until midday then partly sunny. High in the lower 80s. SE winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20 until midday.

Mostly cloudy becoming partly cloudy. Low around 60. SE winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 25.

Enjoy the ‘coolness’ of today as it’s not going to return for a bit. Our time spent until the high pressure ridge that’s allowing southern heat to include us will provide 90 + days for our area. Some suggestion there could be a very slight chance for some rain on Tuesday, but I wouldn’t count on it lowering the temperature much. We seem destined to be in the 90 degree range all week. Even when these 90 degree days fade, it will only lower us into the 80s for the following week. Still summer warm.
