An unquenchable thirst for knowledge about the weather, an observer of world-wide weather events, and an addicted fan of the Weather Channel on TV. Some occurrences from our not too distant past have left me horrified to this day- such as the possibly avoidable tragedy of the damage and death trailing behind Katrina, where human error combined with Mother Nature for sheer terror, the unspeakable destructive Tsunamis in Japan and Thailand, scenes and sounds of which I can hardly bear to see or hear. But I do see and hear it all because I am enthralled, fascinated, by weather driven happenings every bit as much as I am captivated by the clouds in our ever-changing sky. No impressive credentials, no list of meaningful letters trailing after my name, this is merely me, just another weather junky having my say about it all.

Mostly clear tonight. Low in the mid 40s. S winds 5-10 mph.

A terrific day with plentiful sunshine. Still looking at rain Friday and Saturday but for now the rain seems to have been removed from Sunday. A half a nice weekend is better than none, though, right? Our weather is continuing to be remarkable for early November. Looking way, way ahead to a week from this coming Friday, the first mention of frozen mix puts in an appearance. Maybe that will vanish by the time it rolls around, but hey…it’s November in Michigan, so even if it does disappear, it’s bound to return. We are really lucking out with our weather so far. Appreciate it, we know full well it can’t last forever.

Tueasday, Nov. 1, 2022-SW Michigan-Foggy Start To November

Tueasday, Nov. 1, 2022-SW Michigan-Foggy Start To November

Currently 50 degrees with an average wind from the SSE of 4 mph. Feels like 48 degrees. Dew Point 50, Barometer 29.99, Humidity 100%, Visibility 1.5 mi., Sunrise 8:16 am, Sunset 6:34 pm.

Mostly cloudy with areas of patchy fog until midday then clearing. High in the lower 60s. SW winds around 10 mph with gusts to 20 in the afternoon.

Mostly clear overnight with areas of patchy fog. Low around 40. Light winds.

November is starting out mild with the usual dense Fall fogs showing up now and then. And remember for every heavy fog we get; we’ll get an equal number of snowstorms at some point during the winter months. Which is totally untrue, but there is so much weather folklore around to consult I figured why not add to the list. In the meantime, enjoy the first couple weeks of November being mild because we all know it could be SO much different and less comfortable.

Mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of rain showers in the evening becoming partly cloudy with chances of patchy overnight fog. Low in the mid 40s. Light winds.

Not bad weather for a Michigan Halloween. We’ve had much worse in years gone by. I can remember snow for a few of them. And much colder temperatures. Today’s temperature will be mild but the chance of rain developing is still out there. The rest of the week sounds like it will be dry right up until next weekend. Friday through Sunday next doesn’t hold out much promise for nice, but things can change by then. Guess we’ll have to just wait till be get there and find out.

Not a bad day before Halloween. Sounds as if the little trick or treaters – if there are still any – might get a bit wet tomorrow though. Chance of off and on rain. Maybe it will be kind enough to hold off and allow the littles to get out and back in without being drenched. In the meantime, enjoy today. Rain tonight but not again until the end of the week. A pretty decent week coming up. For the end of October and the beginning of November.

As of now – and we all know how quickly things can change – we seem to have rain in our picture coming on Sunday night. And then, strange, but nothing in the following week until the next Sunday night. Could that become a new Sunday night routine? Rain? Nothing but pleasant weather in between those brackets, so be prepared to enjoy it all. Great time to be getting chores and tasks done that need to be accomplished before the winter season takes hold.

Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022-SW Michigan-Temperatures Staying Moderate

Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022-SW Michigan-Temperatures Staying Moderate

Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022-SW Michigan-36 degrees. SSE wind of 2 mph. Feels like 36 degrees. Dew Point 37, Barometer 30.29, Humidity 80%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:10 am, Sunset 6:41 pm.

Mostly sunny today with a high in the lower 50s. Light winds.

Partly cloudy overnight. Low in the lower 30s. E winds 5-10 mph.

Our daytime temperatures will stay in the 50s, an occasional 60. Nights will stay pretty much over freezing. Nothing drastic in our immediate future. Considering we’re nearing the end of October, heading into November, things could be so much worse. Plenty of opportunity to be tending to raking and bagging those pesky leaves.  Or leaving them alone, either way, they won’t soon be covered with anything harsh like snow. Nothing but good news so far.

Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022-SW Michigan-After Today’s Rain Several Sunny Days

Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022-SW Michigan-After Today’s Rain Several Sunny Days

Currently 45 with an average wind from the W of 7 mph. Feels like 39 degrees. Dew Point 43, Barometer 29.64, Humidity 100%, Visibility 7 mi., Sunrise 8:09 am, Sunset 6:42 pm.

Mostly clear with a low in the lower 30s. N W winds around 10 mph with gusts to 20 in the evening, becoming light overnight.

October has been – and will continue to be – about normal in the temperature range. Nothing drastic and, so far, nothing winterish showing up. Couldn’t have been better. Even held out a couple of excellent weekends for us to experience.  Getting mighty close to November and I wouldn’t be making any bets that November is going to continue to treat us so nicely. I guess we’ll worry about that when we get there. In the meantime, we’ve got a few more days of October to enjoy and appreciate.

Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022-SW Michigan-Rain On The Way

Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022-SW Michigan-Rain On The Way

Currently 60 with an average wind from the SE of of 4 mph. Feels like 60 degrees. Dew Point 43, Barometer 29.72, Humidity 54%. Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:07 am, Sunset 6:44 pm.

Partly sunny until midday then cloudy with a 50% chance of rain showers. High in the upper 60s. S winds 5-15 mph.

90% chance of overnight rain showers. Low around 50. SE winds 10 mph becoming W with gusts to 20.

Not a bad little morning. Not much sunshine out there considering it’s supposed to be partly sunny. Looks more like rain is on the way. Not all that strange, since rain is indeed on the way. In fact, rain shows up off and on during the coming week or two. Not much rain expected, but some. And that’s okay considering we could be looking at off and on snow.  Thinking of where we are in the calendar, almost in November, this could easily be different.  Rain is much friendlier.

Monday, Oct. 24, 2022-SW Michigan-Cooler With Clouds Morning

Monday, Oct. 24, 2022-SW Michigan-Cooler With Clouds Morning

Currently 62 with an average wind from the ESE of 2 mph. Feels like 62 degrees. Dew Point 50, Barometer 29.92, Humidity 62%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:06 am, Sunset 6:46 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of morning rain showers. High in the mid 70s. S winds 10-15 with gusts to 25.

Mostly cloudy becoming partly cloudy overnight. Low in the mid 50s. S winds 10-15 mph.

Not a pretty morning like we had on Sunday. That was glorious. In fact, the entire past weekend was beautiful. Set to get some rain this week and our temperatures will be more in the 50s, some 60s, rather than 70 degrees for the rest of this week. Still nothing drastic in store, which is great. We can do without the drama of harsh weather as long as we can escape from it. Looking like the month of October will continue to be kind to us. Appreciated. I’m not making any bets on the month of November, though.
