An unquenchable thirst for knowledge about the weather, an observer of world-wide weather events, and an addicted fan of the Weather Channel on TV. Some occurrences from our not too distant past have left me horrified to this day- such as the possibly avoidable tragedy of the damage and death trailing behind Katrina, where human error combined with Mother Nature for sheer terror, the unspeakable destructive Tsunamis in Japan and Thailand, scenes and sounds of which I can hardly bear to see or hear. But I do see and hear it all because I am enthralled, fascinated, by weather driven happenings every bit as much as I am captivated by the clouds in our ever-changing sky. No impressive credentials, no list of meaningful letters trailing after my name, this is merely me, just another weather junky having my say about it all.

Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022-SW Michigan-Getting Colder

Currently 37 with an average wind of 5 mph from the WNW. Feels like 33 degrees. Dew Point 31, Humidity 79%, Barometer 29.79, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:30 am, Sunset 5:21 pm.

Cloudy with a 20% chance of rain and snow showers. High in the upper 30s. NW winds 5-15 mph.

Partly cloudy in the evening becoming most cloudy with a 50% chance of snow showers. Low in the upper 20ws. NW winds 10 mph.

What a huge difference between Thursday and today. Going to be even greater by tomorrow. To think I was raking leaves and comfortably sitting outside in the back watching nature just two days ago. Astonishing.  Seeing night temperatures set to dip into the 20s.  We could start seeing a bit of snow accumulation before too long. Hopefully, none of it will stick. Not yet. The longer that holds off the better. But it is almost mid-November and we’ve seen much worse conditions by now in previous years. We’ll see how it goes. But it definitely will be going colder.

Friday, Nov. 11, 2022-SW Michigan-This Morning Is As Warm As It’s Going To Get

Currently 51 with an average wind form the WSW of 1 mph. Feels like 51 degrees. Dew Point 48, Humidity 89%, Barometer 29.7, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:29 am, Sunset 5:22 pm.

Cloudy. Low in the lower 50s. NW winds 5-15 mph.

Mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of overnight rain showers. Low in the lower 30s. NW winds 5-15 mph.

Not bad out there this morning, a bit cool, but it’s as warm as it’s going to be for us for a long time. It’s all downhill from this morning. Our temperature is set to keep dropping and our rain showers could well be mixed with snow showers – right on through the weekend. Our daytime temps will end up in the 30s and our nighttime temps in the 20s. And that’s the way it will be until it gets even colder. Personally, yesterday I went out and took care of my final leaf raking and getting summer things put away and winter stuff brought out. I’m fairly confident that was the last good opportunity. Time to face the fact that winter is rapidly approaching.

Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022-SW Michigan-Enjoy Today-Last Of 70 Degree Days

Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022-SW Michigan-Enjoy Today-Last Of 70 Degree Days

Currently 65 with an average wind from the S of 2 mph. Feels like 65 degrees. Dew Point 49, Humidity 57%, Barometer 29.97, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:28 am, Sunset 5:23 pm.

Mostly sunny with a high in the lower 70s. S winds 10-15 mph with gusts to around 30.

Partly cloudy with a low in the mid 40s. S winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 25.

My advice is to get out there and enjoy today because this is very likely the last of our 70-degree days for a long while. Tomorrow, not too bad, but about 20 degrees lower. After that, much cooler. Time to put away the summer bird bath and get out that heated version because it will be needed after the next few days. In the meantime, today is beautiful. Plenty of sunshine and warmth. Use it, ’cause we’re about to lose it. The season is fast about to change.

Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022-SW Michigan-Couple Good Days, Then Not So Much

Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022-SW Michigan-Couple Good Days, Then Not So Much

Currently 46 with an average wind from the SE of 6 mph. Feels like 42 degrees. Dew Point 38, Humidity 73%, Barometer 30.24, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:27 am, Sunset 5:24 pm.

Partly sunny with a high in the lower 60s. S winds 5-10 mph.]

Partly cloudy with a low in the lower 50s. S winds around 10 mph with gusts to 2o.

Today won’t be bad, tomorrow better, and then the bottom falls out. Rain, probably snow showers, and 30 degree days. None of that sounds good. And I’m sure it won’t be. We knew it was coming but these lovely un-Michigan November days have been a delight. Unfortunately, the delight is about set to leave the area.

Tuesday, Nov 8, 2022-SW Michigan-Election Day – Vote!

Tuesday, Nov 8, 2022-SW Michigan-Election Day – Vote!

Currently 37 with an average wind from the NE of 7 mph. Feels like 32 degrees. Dew Point 34, Humidity 87%, Barometer 30.61, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:25 am, Sunset 5:25 pm.

Mostly sunny with a high in the lower 50s. E winds 5-15 mph.

Partly cloudy with a low in the lower 30s overnight. SE winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20.

Decent weather the next few days. One site has the chance of snow showers visiting us Friday night through Sunday. I prefer the other sites that simply call for clouds and cooler weather. In the meantime we do have these few days to enjoy before it cools down.

Wherever you are in the USA, today is election day and it’s vital that you get out and vote. A great deal of what this country stands for is in your hands.

Monday, Nov. 7, 2022-SW Michigan-Slight Warm Up Before Rain And Lower Temps

Monday, Nov. 7, 2022-SW Michigan-Slight Warm Up Before Rain And Lower Temps

Currently 45 with an average wind from the SW of 7 mph. Feels like 41 degrees. Dew Point 27, Humidity 49%, Barometer 30.31, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:24 am, Sunset 5:27 pm.

Sunny with a high in the upper 40s. NW winds 5-15 mph with gusts to around 25.

Mostly clear. Low in the lower 30s. N winds around 5 mph becoming NE overnight.

Temperatures will rise slightly to a could-be 70 degrees on Friday. Unfortunately, then the rain sets in and we’ll end up pretty much 30 degrees lower before we know it. I guess it’s that’s time of year in Michigan. However, these next few days will be the ones to get out there in any degree of comfort and deal with yard issues. Thankfully Mother Nature is granting us this window to get out there and tend to tasks.

Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022-SW Michigan-Pleasant Weather Continues

Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022-SW Michigan-Pleasant Weather Continues

Currently 54 with an average wind from the SSE of 6 mph. Feels like 54 degrees. Dew Point 41, Barometer 29.81, Humidity 62%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:23 am, Sunset 5:28 pm.

Mostly cloudy through early afternoon then clearing. High in the upper 50s. SW winds 15-20 mph with gusts to 30.

Clear overnight. Low in the upper 30s. W winds 10-15 mph.

This comfortable weather is supposed to last through this next coming week. Unbelievable. Saw folks out golfing this morning. I’m fairly sure they won’t be doing so next weekend. By then our daytime temperatures are likely to be in the 30s rather than the 50s. Some rain coming about Thursday, lasting into Saturday and that batch of rain coming will help lower our temperatures. Enjoy today and this coming week. Could be the last of the unusual Michigan November.

Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022-SW Michigan-Rain, Possible High Winds Moving In

Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022-SW Michigan-Rain, Possible High Winds Moving In

Currently 58 with an average wind from the ESE of 7 mph. Feels like 58 degrees. Dew Point 55, Barometer 29.51, Humidity 9 mi., Sunrise 8:21 am, Sunset 6:29 pm.

Wind Advisory in effect until 8:00 pm. Small Craft Advisory in effect on the big lake until 8:00 tonight. High winds could produce waves 10-15 ft.

90% chance of rain today. High in the mid 60s. SW winds 20-30 mph with gusts to 55 in the afternoon.

Mostly cloudy to partly cloudy overnight. Low in the lower 40s. SW winds 20-30 mph with gusts to 55 decreasing to 10-15 mph with gusts to 30.

Rain for sure today with wind possibly kicking up in the afternoon. Best to stay off the big lake today with the chance of some dangerous waves being created by this wind system set to blow by today. Anything you have to do outside is much better planned for tomorrow or Monday. Tomorrow looks to be a much calmer, dryer day.  Chance of rain maybe about mid-week. Not a strong possibility, but it’s there. As for today, grab your umbrella if heading out and watch for windblown items during the afternoon.

Friday, Nov. 4, 2022-SW Michigan-Look For Rain Today With Wind Tomorrow

Friday, Nov. 4, 2022-SW Michigan-Look For Rain Today With Wind Tomorrow

Currently 60 with an average wind from the SSE of 7 mph. Feels like 60 degrees. Dew Point 49, Barometer 29.87, Humidity 65%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:20 am, Sunset 6:30 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of overnight rain. Low in the upper 50s. S winds 10-15 mph with gusts the 25.

Expect some rain, even more, look for some high winds tomorrow. There is a possibility of winds up over 50 mph. This ought to mix up those leaves on the ground and deposit them in various places. One place for sure, will be right outside my back door. I expect to end up with a couple feet of leaves I’ll have to wade through – and eventually rake away. Sure do with our local lunatic with the leaf blower could have got here earlier in the week and helped out. But no….Anyway, batter down the hatches and anything else you don’t want to blow about on Saturday.

Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022-SW Michigan-A Lovely Day For Us

Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022-SW Michigan-A Lovely Day For Us

Currently 52 with an average wind from the SE of 3 mph. Feels like 52 degrees. Dew Point 51, Barometer 30.12, Humidity 94%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:19 am, Sunset 6:31 pm.

Sunny with a high in the upper 60s. S winds 5-15 mph.

Partly cloudy tonight with a low in the lower 50s. S winds around 10 mph.

Today will be very comfortable and tonight the temperatures will remain warm for this time of year in Michigan. Look for some rain tomorrow, Saturday, but other than that no rain is showing up in our picture for the next coming week. Looking like another winner of a week. So far, November is being kind to us. The longer that goes on, the better.
