An unquenchable thirst for knowledge about the weather, an observer of world-wide weather events, and an addicted fan of the Weather Channel on TV. Some occurrences from our not too distant past have left me horrified to this day- such as the possibly avoidable tragedy of the damage and death trailing behind Katrina, where human error combined with Mother Nature for sheer terror, the unspeakable destructive Tsunamis in Japan and Thailand, scenes and sounds of which I can hardly bear to see or hear. But I do see and hear it all because I am enthralled, fascinated, by weather driven happenings every bit as much as I am captivated by the clouds in our ever-changing sky. No impressive credentials, no list of meaningful letters trailing after my name, this is merely me, just another weather junky having my say about it all.
Monday, Sept. 7, 2020-SW Michigan-A Pretty Labor Day

Monday, Sept. 7, 2020-SW Michigan-A Pretty Labor Day

Currently 71 with an average wind from the WNW of 5 mph. Feels like 71 degrees. Dew Point 58, Barometer 29.8, Humidity 63%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7;12 am, Sunset 8:07 pm.

Mostly sunny until midday becoming partly sunny. High around 70. NW winds 5 -15 mph.

Partly cloudy with a slight chance of rain showers in the evening. Then a 90% chance of showers and thunderstorms overnight. Low in the lower 50s. NE winds 5 – 15 mph.

So far a very pleasant Labor Day. Yesterday turned into a surprise, too. The afternoon became sunny, a bit breezy, but nice enough for folks to get out walking and biking. Today may leave open the opportunity for outdoor grilling and a proper finish to the Summer season. Considering only a few days ago, it was all supposed to be rain. So far, so good.

Happy Labor Day one and all.

Sunday, Sept. 6, 2020-SW Michigan-Definitely Feels Like Fall Today

Sunday, Sept. 6, 2020-SW Michigan-Definitely Feels Like Fall Today

Currently 61 with an average wind from the S of 4 mph. Feels like 61 degrees. Dew Point 50, Barometer 30.1, Humidity 66%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:12 am, Sunset 8:07 pm.

60% chance of rain showers and thunderstorms. High in the mid 70s. S winds 10 -15 mph increasing to 15-25 in the afternon.

90% chance of rain showers and thunderstorms. Low in the lower 60s. S winds 15 – 25 mph becoming SW 10 -15 with gusts to around 40.

Way too chilly this morning. Sweater weather before Labor Day is not fair on the part of Mother Nature. Supposed to get up in the 70s today but I have serious doubts that’s going to happen. I suspect it will hover in the upper 60s and not budge above that. This entire coming week seems to be 60 degree days with several days offering us rain to go with the chilly temperatures. Not one of the best weeks coming up, but could be worse. Could be snowing. Lord, makes me cringe just typing that word. Anyway, don’t like seeing that in the forecast already even if it is out in the Rockies. Color me a total Summer person.

Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020-SW Michigan-Chilly Weather Set To Roll In

Mostly clear with a low around 50. Light winds.

Sounds as if our temperatures are bound and determined to head into the fall area. Next week seems to be dwelling in the 60s. Maybe with a lot of rain possible. Going to be sweater or light jacket season coming already. Of course, I’m not ready. Never am.

Friday, Sept. 4, 2020-SW Michigan – Sunny Sept Day

Friday, Sept. 4, 2020-SW Michigan – Sunny Sept Day

Currently 66 with an average wind from the W of 6 mph. Feels like 66 degrees. Dew Point 45, Barometer 30.06, Humidity 46%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:10 am, Sunset 8:10 pm.

Sunny with a high in the lower 70s. W winds 10 -15 mph.

Partly cloudy with a 20% chance of overnight rain. Low in the mid 50s. SW winds around 10 mph.

It’s a bit cool today for me, but the sunshine makes it feel warmer. I should get used to this, but by the time I get used to it snow is hitting us in the backside. I’m not really a get used to chilly/cold temperature person. I’m already longing for next spring and summer and we’re not even ‘officially’ out of this summer yet.

Thursday, Sept. 3, 2020-SW Michigan-Chance of Afternoon Showers

Currently 69 with an average wind from the SW of 4 mph. Feels like 69. Dew Point 65, Barometer 29.74, Humidity 87%, Visibility 8 mi., Sunrise 7:09 am, Sunset 8;12 pm.

Mostly clear with a low in the lower 50s. W winds 5- 15 mph with gusts to 25 in the evening.

So far it’s a nice, cool morning. Mostly clear sky, little breeze blowing. Very comfortable. Interesting listening to the forecast for next week. It seems that depending on the computer model, it will be hot – or it will be cold. Seriously. I can’t remember hearing such a divisive forecast. It was left as a wait and see thing. Really. So, I guess we’ll wait and see. LOL

Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020-SW Michigan-Sunny Morning, Maybe Overnight Rain

Currently 70 with an average wind from the SE of 2 mph. Feels like 70 degrees. Dew Point 62, Barometer 29.91, Humidity 74%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:07 am, Sunset 8:16 pm.

It’s a pleasant morning and there is a slight chance of some rain moving in later. Our temperatures are regulating to a September schedule already. Can hardly believe that a few days next week our high is supposed to be only in the 60s. I guess that’s what happens when summer leaves and leaves a hole for fall to sneak into our picture. But 60s? Already talking about getting chillier than I like.

Sunny with a high around 80. S winds 5 -15 mph.

Mostly cloudy becoming partly cloudy overnight. 50% chance of showers. Low in the lower 60s. Light winds becoming N 10 mph.

Hard to believe we are at the end of the last summer month. Oh, I know…but people vs paper…we all know that summer is June, July & August. September is Fall – from day one for most. And little signs are showing up. A red leaf here, a gold one there. Dry leaves on the driveways. As lousy  as this year of 2020 has been, it should be a relief to see each and every month leave, and it is, sort of, but it’s the thought of summer leaving that I find unhappy. Oh well…not much can be done about it but gear up for September.

Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020-SW Michigan-Fall-Like Weather

Mostly sunny with a high in the mid 70s. N winds 5 – 10 mph becoming light later in the afternoon.

Mostly clear. low in the mid 50s. SE winds around 10 mph.

Feels late in the year today than it really is. Almost chilly this morning. The next week looks comfortable with temperatures in the upper 70s. Might be an 80 sneak in, but doesn’t look all that likely. I know folks who work outside are very grateful for this comfort level moving in. Especially with wearing those rotten masks. Sweating behind a mask all day has become a nightmare. Also raising a lot of ailments for some. Be glad when common sense moves back into society and this nonsense stops.

Mostly clear. Low in the mid 50s. NW winds 5 -10 mph becoming light.

Watched a fantastic light show with lightening lasting a good half hour last night. The storm was to the north of me, so didn’t get much in the line of rain or wind, but the sky was worth sitting up and watching. Sorry for those directly under that storm, it had to be a doozy.

I don’t see anything over 70 degrees coming at us for the entire next week. Nice and cool. A relief for many who was tired of the heat.
