An unquenchable thirst for knowledge about the weather, an observer of world-wide weather events, and an addicted fan of the Weather Channel on TV. Some occurrences from our not too distant past have left me horrified to this day- such as the possibly avoidable tragedy of the damage and death trailing behind Katrina, where human error combined with Mother Nature for sheer terror, the unspeakable destructive Tsunamis in Japan and Thailand, scenes and sounds of which I can hardly bear to see or hear. But I do see and hear it all because I am enthralled, fascinated, by weather driven happenings every bit as much as I am captivated by the clouds in our ever-changing sky. No impressive credentials, no list of meaningful letters trailing after my name, this is merely me, just another weather junky having my say about it all.

Looks to be a week of much more comfortable weather. 70s seem to be the number cropping up. Time to give the A/C a break and open those windows again. At least at my place. Looking forward to it.

There is a pretty good chance of some rain off and on all this coming week. With Thursday looking to be dropping down to the upper 60s. Won’t last, but it will feel refreshing while it’s on. Today, however, is going to be another good and hot one.

We did get a dab of rain last night. I measured .42″ in my rain gauge and it was a surprise to me ’cause I didn’t hear one single drop of it.  Just happy it all held off until after the holiday weekend. That was nice of Mother Nature – who hasn’t show much interest in being nice of late. A change of heart? Or a momentary weakness? Whatever. It worked out well for all of us.

Yesterday was a warm one and today should be about the same with the only difference this one could bring in a chance of some late afternoon or overnight rain. I can’t imagine this will interfere with any fireworks. We’ve had several days of heavy sight and sound celebration. I would think they’d be finished by now. Or not. I guess we’ll find out.  At any rate, could not have asked for better 4th of July weather. This one has been a dandy. Let the rain come now, we’ve had our fun in the sun.

Sunday, July 4, 2021-SW Michigan-A Hot, Humid 4th of July

Partly cloudy overnight with a low around 72. WSW winds 5 – 10 mph.

Going to be a hot two or three days here with temperatures at or near 90. Wednesday should give us a break from the heat with temperatures dropped into the 70s and perhaps some rain. In the meantime, don’t expect it to cool down too much overnight. Might be about a comfortable day time temperature, but nothing dipping down into truly comfortable sleeping range.

Have a grand and glorious July 4th. Try to stay cool.

Yesterday was an absolute delight. Perfection. Today won’t be quite as picture-perfect, but close. Lovely weather to be out and about. Sitting out in the back on my tiny patio yesterday evening was ideal. I’m hoping for a repeat today. We do have some sweltering weather on the horizon. Sunday will be a scorcher and Monday will be close to as hot. So enjoy this lovely moderate weather while we have it.

Thursday, July 1, 2021-SW Michigan-A Couple Of Near Perfect Days For Us

Currently 69 with an average wind from the NE of 2 mph. Feels like 69 degrees. Dew Point 62, Barometer 29.99, Humidity 78%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:08 am, Sunset 9:26 pm.

Today and tomorrow are going to be as close to perfect summer weather as anyone could imagine. Temperatures in the upper 70s, sunshine? Doesn’t get any better than this. Enjoy it because it sounds as if Sunday and Monday we’re going to be paying for it with much higher temperatures than we’re comfortable with. Going from open windows and no A/C to closed windows and definite A/C. Oh well…this is summer and that’s what happens.

Wednesday, June 30, 2021-SW Michigan-Sounds Like A Sweltering 4th Coming Our Way

Wednesday, June 30, 2021-SW Michigan-Sounds Like A Sweltering 4th Coming Our Way

Currently 73 with an average wind from the SW of 1 mph. Feels like 74 degrees. Dew Point 68, Barometer 30.07, Humidity 89%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:07 am, Sunset 9:26 pm.

20% chance of a stray shower today. Mostly cloudy early becoming partly cloudy later on. High 81. W winds 10-15 mph.

20% chance of overnight showers from a few passing clouds in a mostly clear sky.

Not bad temperature-wise today or the next few, but by Sunday, they are already talking about our heat being up close to 100 as a possibility. My understanding is that our month of July is going to continue in the way too hot range, and it would seem like it isn’t going to waste any time getting to it. So far, even though we’ve had some truly hot days, we aren’t suffering from record setting heat like the East and West Coast. They are in trouble. And I heard that somewhere in Canada today the temperature is going to be a record-setting 121. That is not only outrageously hot but just plain crazy to try and survive unless you’re really careful. Not going to have to endure that extreme here, but do be prepared for this weekend to be a scorcher.

Tuesday, June 29, 2021-SW Michigan-Might Get A Bit More Rain-Or Not

Tuesday, June 29, 2021-SW Michigan-Might Get A Bit More Rain-Or Not

Currently 79 with an average wind from the SW of 10 mph. Feels like 83 degrees. Dew Point 72, Barometer 30.14, Humidity 85%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:07 am, Sunset 9:27 pm.

50% chance of a stray shower or thunderstorm today. High in the lower 80s. WSW winds 10-15 mph.

60% chance of overnight showers or thunderstorms. Low around 66. WSW winds 10-15 mph.

Flood Warning in effect until Thursday evening now.

It did rain a bit last night. Measured .05″, which wasn’t much but then again, we didn’t need much more. Might or might not get any of this rain, but it does look as if we’re nearing the end our little monsoon season. The week ahead looks to be on the cloudy side, but it most definitely does not bring rain into the picture on a daily basis like this past week did. And I think we’re all happy about that. Going from near drought to flood stage isn’t quite what we had in mind when we were hoping or some rain. But, unfortunately, that’s exactly what we did. Hopefully, not again. This much rain at a time we do not need.

60% chance of a stray shower or thunderstorm. High 83. Light winds.

70% chance of early t-storms and overnight showers. Patchy fog. Low 69. Light winds.

Well, yesterday turned into a total surprise. No rain and a nice breeze that made the day feel wonderful. Been awhile since we had a day like that. Was expecting more rain, didn’t get it. Even ended up with partially clear skies. Still looking for rain every day until the next weekend approaches, but hey…we could be in for more surprises. Who knows? All we do know is this one is starting out fine. What it turns into is what it turns into. Just so far, so good.
