An unquenchable thirst for knowledge about the weather, an observer of world-wide weather events, and an addicted fan of the Weather Channel on TV. Some occurrences from our not too distant past have left me horrified to this day- such as the possibly avoidable tragedy of the damage and death trailing behind Katrina, where human error combined with Mother Nature for sheer terror, the unspeakable destructive Tsunamis in Japan and Thailand, scenes and sounds of which I can hardly bear to see or hear. But I do see and hear it all because I am enthralled, fascinated, by weather driven happenings every bit as much as I am captivated by the clouds in our ever-changing sky. No impressive credentials, no list of meaningful letters trailing after my name, this is merely me, just another weather junky having my say about it all.
Sunday, Nov. 14, 2021-SW Michigan-A Week Of Varied Temps Ahead

Sunday, Nov. 14, 2021-SW Michigan-A Week Of Varied Temps Ahead

Currently 35 with an average wind from the S of 3 mph. Feels like 35 degrees. Dew Point 34, Humidity 96%, Barometer 29.63, Visibility 7 mi., Sunrise 7:35 am, Sunset 5:21 pm.

90% chance of snow/rain mix. Temperature steady in the upper 30s. S winds changing to NW 10-15 mph.

Cloudy to partly cloudy overnight with the possibility of a few snow flurries. Low 29. NW winds 10-25 mph.

A blustery day. No big accumulation of snow expected just a messy mix off and on all day long. The coming week appears to be all over the place. 40 degree days, 30 degree days, even a 50 degree day sneaking in there. Nothing drastic showing up yet, just winter getting wound up and ready. Still a great many leaves on the trees, a surprising number of them still green. Never a good thing if and when we do get any heavy wet snow. Let’s hope that holds off for as long as possible.

Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021-SW Michigan-Rain/Snow For Awhile

Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021-SW Michigan-Rain/Snow For Awhile

Currently 37 with an average wind from the W of 9 mph. Feels like 37 degrees. Dew point 35, Humidity 96%, Barometer 29.83, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:34 am, Sunset 5:22 pm.

50% chance of a rain snow mix in the morning, mostly overcast afternoon skies. High 42. WNW winds 10-20 mph.

90% chance of overnight rain/snow. Snow could accumulate an inch or so. Low 32. SW winds 5 -10 mph.

Yesterday was a mess. I measured .60″ in the gauge this morning and impossible to tell how much was snow, how much rain. It all fell in bits and spurts with one after another. Once in awhile it looked as if it would snow pretty solid only to have it become rain. Looks to be the way of it for another day or so. Tomorrow does seem to be giving us a better chance for snow, but it’ll be a wait and see what we get situation. It looks more or less dry for the rest of the week coming up. That’s a good thing. There still seem to be a lot of leaves to be tended to before solid snowfall covers it all up.

Friday, Nov. 12, 2021-SW Michigan-A Few Messy Days

Friday, Nov. 12, 2021-SW Michigan-A Few Messy Days

Currently 41 with an average wind from the SW of 2 mph. Feels like 41 degrees. Dew Point 35, Humidity 79%, Barometer 29.7, Visibility 7 mi., Sunrise 7:32 am, Sunset 5:23 pm.

100% chance of morning thundershowers with rain/snow showers in the afternoon. High 42. SW winds 10-20 mph.

50% chance of rain and snow showers tapering off in the evening. Decreasing clouds overnight. Low 32. SW winds 5 -10 mph.

No telling whether we’re going to see rain or rain and snow or snow or….Just sounds like a handful of messy days one way or another until the beginning of next week. Whatever comes around we’ll deal with it. So far doesn’t appear as if any grand accumulation of snow, so looks more like early winter hints of what’s  bound to come in greater measure later on.

Some clear skies this morning with clouds moving in. Those clouds will usher in days of rain culminating in a rain/snow event for Sunday. Sounds like fun, doesn’t it? No. No, it doesn’t, but that seems to be what’s on tap for us. So…get out there and enjoy today.

Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021-SW Michigan-Might Get A Bit Of Rain Today

Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021-SW Michigan-Might Get A Bit Of Rain Today

Currently 46 with an average wind from the NE of 5 mph. Feels like 46 degrees. Dew Point 42, Humidity 76%, Barometer 30.19, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:28 am, Sunset 5:26 pm.

Cloudy with a 70% chance of light rain and patchy fog. High 57. NE winds 5 -10 mph.

Partly cloudy overnight with a low of 29 degrees. Light and variable winds.

Maybe some rain today but tomorrow might bring us some sunshine. Soak it up if it does arrive ’cause the next handful of days sound dreary. Sunday sound positively miserable. A chance of a rain/snow mix and cold. So…today, rain or not sounds not so bad in comparison.  I guess the secret is to relish whatever we get that’s in the least bit comfortable.

Monday, Nov. 8, 2021-SW Michigan-Lovely Beginning To The Week

Monday, Nov. 8, 2021-SW Michigan-Lovely Beginning To The Week

Currently 53 with an average wind from the SW of 6 mph. Feels like 53 degrees. Dew Point 44, Humidity 70%, Barometer 30.09, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7;27 am, Sunset 5:27 pm.

Lots of sunshine today. High 61. WSW winds 10-15 mph.

Partly cloudy will becoming mostly cloudy after midnight. Low 44. Light and variable winds.

This week will be starting warm and friendly, will end with chilly and probable rainy. Thursday will usher in the rain that will bring the colder temperatures with it. We know this warmth can’t last. Not in November. Not in Michigan. But it’s grand while it’s here. A good few days to get the leaves taken care of … except perhaps tomorrow might bring a little rain with it. Still comfortable, but there is a small chance it might not be quite so dry.

Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021-SW Michigan-Great Weather For A Few Days

Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021-SW Michigan-Great Weather For A Few Days

Currently 54 with an average wind from the SW of 1 mph. Feels like 54 degrees. Dew Point 47, Humidity 84%, Barometer 30.15, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:26 am, Sunset 5:28 pm.

Partly cloudy today with a high of 62. SW winds 10-15 mph.

A few evening clouds will give way to a clear overnight sky. Low 43. SSW winds 5 -10mph.

A lovely couple of sunny days for us. Even then, Tuesday won’t be bad, just cloudy. Some rain for a few and then it’s back to cold weather. So enjoy the heck out of what we’re getting. November, as we all know here in Michigan, could be SO much worse by now.

Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021-SW Michigan-Remember The Dread Time Change Tonight

Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021-SW Michigan-Remember The Dread Time Change Tonight

Currently 34 with an average wind from the SSW of 2 mph. Feels like 31 degrees. Dew Point 31, Humidity 74%, Barometer 30.24, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:25 am, Sunset 6:29 pm.

Some morning clouds will become a mostly sunny afternoon. High 55. SSW winds 10-20 mph.

A few passing overnight clouds. Low 40. SW winds 5 -10 mph.

Relish these comfortable days we have coming our way for awhile. By this time next week we’ll be down to the lower 40s daytime and freezing nights.  Now would be a good time to tend to any outdoor tasks that need doing.  And now would be a good time to hope that eventually someone with an ounce of sense in government gets down to getting rid of this disruptive, unnecessary messing around with our clocks twice a year. You’d think by now, somebody would have tumbled to the fact that most of America hates this. Pick a time. Any time. Standard, Daylight Savings…what ever. Just pick one and stick to it.

Friday, Nov. 5, 2021-SW Michigan-Warming Back Up For Awhile

Friday, Nov. 5, 2021-SW Michigan-Warming Back Up For Awhile

Currently 31 with an average wind from the SW of 1 mph. Feels like. 31 degrees. Dew Point 33, Humidity 90%, Barometer 30.37, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 8:23 am, Sunset 6:30 pm.

Partly cloudy overnight with a low in the mid 30s. S winds 5 -10 mph with gusts to 20.

We are in for a warm up. Could even see a few 60 degree days the beginning of the week. Lovely weather for November and I’m thrilled with it. All too soon when our days dip down into cold, they’re going to be staying there for some time to come. Thank you Jet Stream for moving on down the line.
