An unquenchable thirst for knowledge about the weather, an observer of world-wide weather events, and an addicted fan of the Weather Channel on TV. Some occurrences from our not too distant past have left me horrified to this day- such as the possibly avoidable tragedy of the damage and death trailing behind Katrina, where human error combined with Mother Nature for sheer terror, the unspeakable destructive Tsunamis in Japan and Thailand, scenes and sounds of which I can hardly bear to see or hear. But I do see and hear it all because I am enthralled, fascinated, by weather driven happenings every bit as much as I am captivated by the clouds in our ever-changing sky. No impressive credentials, no list of meaningful letters trailing after my name, this is merely me, just another weather junky having my say about it all.

Monday, June 13, 2022-SW Michigan-Look For Possible Heavy Storms Later On

Currently 67 with an average wind from the ENE of 5 mph. Feels like 67 degrees. Dew Point 61, Barometer 29.93, Humidity 78%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:02 am, Sunset 9:22 pm.

Mostly sunny until around midday then there is a 60% chance of rain and thunderstorms likely. Some storms could be severe later today and overnight. High today in the upper 80s. SE winds 5-15 mph.

80% chance of overnight rain and thunderstorms. Possible strong storms with high winds and hail could take place in the evening. Low in the mid 60s. SE winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 25.

Don’t let the beautiful blue morning sky fool you. Enjoy the lovely, pleasant temperature morning but later today that could change. Just be aware. Keep an eye on the sky, as they say. Not going to cool down much overnight, in spite of the storms, if the temperature is only going to dip into the mid 60s. Humid hot weather is in store for us over the next few days. If you don’t have A/C, and there are plenty who do not, stay as cool as you can – check on the elderly and vulnerable near you if you think they might be in circumstances where they are unable to readily cool down. When temperatures head up into the 90s there is a need to pay attention to not only what you do but what you don’t. Not the weather to be out jogging or exerting yourself over much. Do try to take it easy. Drink plenty of water and if possible, stay out of the midday sun which will be the most dangerous of it all.

Sunday, June 12, 2022-SW Michigan-Colorless Morning Sky

Sunday, June 12, 2022-SW Michigan-Colorless Morning Sky

Currently 64 with an average wind from the SSW of 3 mph. Feels like 64 degrees. Dew Point 61, Barometer 29.8, Humidity 88%, Visibility 8 mi., Sunrise 6:02 am, Sunset 9:22 pm.

Mostly cloudy morning will become a partly sunny afternoon. High near 80. Light winds

A few overnight clouds. Low 58. NNE winds 5-10 mph.

Okay, no joking aside, the Weather Channel is predicting our high temperature on Tuesday and Wednesday will be 97. 97 degrees! If we even get close to that, it’s going to be dangerously hot. We might get some rain Monday and Monday night but if the temperature is in the 80s on Monday, it could be one humid, sticky, rain day. But the main focus here is for Tuesday and Wednesday. Right now it doesn’t look as if there is any way to escape the heat for those days. A high pressure ridge with the Jet Stream wandering way off to the north is a perfect set up. Keep wise. Hydrate, cool off as often as possible. Just be ready, be prepared, be safe. This is not usual stuff for us here in lower SW Michigan. Hot is one thing but this is going to get crazy hot.

Saturday, June 11, 2022-SW Michigan-Slight Chance Of Late And Overnight Rain

Saturday, June 11, 2022-SW Michigan-Slight Chance Of Late And Overnight Rain

Currently 65 degrees with an average wind from the S of 3 mph. Feels like 65. Dew Point 56, Barometer 29.85, Humidity 68%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:02 am, Sunset 9:21 pm.

Some morning sun will become mostly cloudy with a 30% chance of a rain shower and a slight chance of a thunderstorm. High in the upper 70s. SW winds 5-15 mph.

Mostly cloudy overnight with a 50% chance of rain and thunderstorms. Low around 60. SW winds 5 mph.

Nothing seems to be changing as far as the intended path of the Jet Stream this week. A big ‘ol loop to the north will leave us tucked right into southern stye heat. A couple of truly hot days mid-week. Almost certain to be over 90 and perhaps well into the 90s. It won’t be staying that warm but not looking to be dropping down past the 80s. So, some definite summer weather coming our way. Be ready. Hydrate, keep as cool as possible and stay safe. 90-degree heat can get dangerous real fast.

Friday, June 10, 2022-Sw Michigan-Slight Chance Of Rain

Friday, June 10, 2022-Sw Michigan-Slight Chance Of Rain

Currently 65 with an average wind from the S of 2 mph. Feels like 65 degrees. Dew Point 53, Barometer 29.88, Humidity 57%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:02 am, Sunset 9:20 pm.

Mostly sunny until midday becoming partly sunny with a slight chance of rain. High in the mid 70s. W winds 5-15 mph.

Partly cloudy with a slight chance of overnight rain. Low in the mid 50s. SW winds 5-10 mph.

Not a bad weekend coming up. Keep an eye out for a stray rain shower popping up once in awhile, but then again, the chance is small, so hopefully none will put in an appearance. Also do keep alert for some serious heat showing up here around Tuesday and Wednesday. The Jet Stream is going to be curving way up to the north of us which will nestle us right smack in the heat from the south.  Just be ready and be careful. When temperature hover in the 90s, there are too many opportunities for folks to find themselves in dangerous conditions. Unless things change between now and then, it’s going to get mighty hot. Prepare and be safe.

Thursday, June 9, 2022-SW Michigan-Coolish For Now, Watch Out For Next Week

Thursday, June 9, 2022-SW Michigan-Coolish For Now, Watch Out For Next Week

Currently 57 with an average wind from the SSW of 4 mph. Feels like 55 degrees. Dew Point 55, Barometer 29.91, Humidity 86%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:02 am, Sunset 9:20 pm.

Mostly sunny today with a high in the lower 70s. W winds 5-15 mph.

Partly cloudy tonight. Low in the lower 50s. SW winds 10 mph.

So-Mother Nature is messing around with us again. She’s moved the opportunity for some rain in for the weekend now. And boosted some of the temperatures next week out of the 80s and seemingly into the 90s for a couple of really hot days. Tuesday and Wednesday may be scorchers. Of course, as is the norm, nothing is set in cement so things may jolly well change by then, but for now it’s looking like a bit of a hot spell could be ours.

Wednesday, June 8, 2022-SW Michigan-Could End Up With Some Rain Today

Wednesday, June 8, 2022-SW Michigan-Could End Up With Some Rain Today

Currently 56 with an average wind from the NNE of 3 mph. Feels like 56 degrees. Dew Point 54, Barometer 29.9, Humidity 89%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:03 am, Sunset 9:19 pm.

Cloudy with an 80% chance of rain today. High in the upper 60s. SE winds around 10 mph.

Mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of rain in the evening becoming partly cloudy overnight. Low in the lower 50s. Light winds.

Take heart, this seems to be our chilliest day as things will begin to warm up again. As of now, there doesn’t appear to be a chance of rain coming up for the entire next week. Most of which, after a weekend in the 70s, will be heading into the 80 degrees again. Some clouds, some sun, some warmth. Sounds fine to me.

Tuesday, June 7, 2022-SW Michigan-No Rain Today, Maybe Tomorrow

Tuesday, June 7, 2022-SW Michigan-No Rain Today, Maybe Tomorrow

Currently 58 with an average wind from the WNW of 8 mph. Feels like 58 degrees. Dew Point 54, Barometer 29.79, Humidity 90%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:03 am, Sunset 9:19 pm.

Partly cloudy until midday becoming mostly clear. High in the lower 70s. W winds 10-15 mph with gusts to around 25.

Partly cloudy. Low in the lower 50s. W winds 10 mph with gusts to 20 in the evening.

Not a bad day in store today, perhaps some rain tomorrow. The weekend now is looking good. A little on the cool side, lower 70s, but with sunshine. Not bad. And for those of you, like me, who are looking for those nice hot summer temperatures? Look no farther than next week. The 80s are coming back.  Might not please everyone, but it surely does me.

Monday, June 6-SW Michigan-Rain For Our Monday

Monday, June 6-SW Michigan-Rain For Our Monday

Currently 63 with an average wind from the NNE of 1 mph. Feels like 63 degrees. Dew Point 58, Barometer 29.74, Humidity 90%, Visibility 7 mi., Sunrise 6:03 am, Sunset 9:18 pm.

90% chance of rain with a chance of thunderstorms today. High in the mid 70s. S winds 10-15 mph becoming SW 5-10 with gusts to around 25.

70% chance of rain and thunderstorms. Low in the mid 50s. Light winds become NW 5-10 mph.

It appears that the pattern of rain every other day will hold true for most of this week. So grab your umbrella today but feel free to forget it tomorrow. So far, the month of June isn’t a ‘I’m so glad I opened the pool’ month. If you haven’t, don’t rush. Doesn’t look as if we’re going to be doing any sweltering in the heat any time soon.

Sunday, June 5, 2022-SW Michigan-It’s A Rainy Sunday

Sunday, June 5, 2022-SW Michigan-It’s A Rainy Sunday

Currently 56 with an average wind from the SSW of 2 mph. Feels like 56 degrees. Dew Point 55, Barometer 29.93, Humidity 100%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 6:04 am, Sunset 9:17 pm.

Cloudy with a 50% chance of rain today. High around 70. E winds 10 mph increasing to 10-15 in the afternoon.

50% chance of overnight rain. Low in the upper 50s. E winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 25 in the evening.

Pretty good odds…50% chance of rain. Since it’s been rainy fairly steady since I woke up this morning, I’m thinking maybe better odds than that even. Sounds as if it might get a tad windy later today and into this evening. Look for an even better chance of rain tomorrow. But looking ahead, it would appear that for every rainy day, we get a clear one right after. And that pattern’s is what’s currently laid out for our week. Oh well…it could be worse. It could be rainy every day. So get ‘er done inside on the rainy ones and scoot on outside on those that are dry. Sounds like a plan to me.

Saturday, June 4, 2022-SW Michigan-No Summer Warm-Up This Weekend

Saturday, June 4, 2022-SW Michigan-No Summer Warm-Up This Weekend

Currently 62 with an average wind from the SSE of 1 mph. Feels like 62 degrees. Dew Point 46, Barometer 30.02, Humidity 56%, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:04 am, Sunset 9:17 pm.

Mostly sunny becoming partly sunny today with a high in the lower 70s. S winds 5-10 mph becoming W in the afternoon.

A 60% chance of overnight rain. Low in the lower 50s. Light winds.

Looks like we might dodge any rain today, but probably not tomorrow. Just don’t look for any lovely warm temperatures ’cause you won’t find them. Not around here, anyway. You have noticed how the ‘Global Warming’ has evolved into ‘Climate Change’?  It was looking and sounding rather silly what with Winter showing up clear into the summer season here and there. Have to call it something, right? Just wise to leave the word warm out of the equation while half of us spend our time scurrying around looking for jackets so many days. Just saying…
