An unquenchable thirst for knowledge about the weather, an observer of world-wide weather events, and an addicted fan of the Weather Channel on TV. Some occurrences from our not too distant past have left me horrified to this day- such as the possibly avoidable tragedy of the damage and death trailing behind Katrina, where human error combined with Mother Nature for sheer terror, the unspeakable destructive Tsunamis in Japan and Thailand, scenes and sounds of which I can hardly bear to see or hear. But I do see and hear it all because I am enthralled, fascinated, by weather driven happenings every bit as much as I am captivated by the clouds in our ever-changing sky. No impressive credentials, no list of meaningful letters trailing after my name, this is merely me, just another weather junky having my say about it all.

Thursday, June 23, 2022-SW Michigan-Getting Dry Out There

Currently 67 with an average wind from the NNE of 7 mph. Feels like 67 degrees. Dew Point 48, Humidity 53%, Barometer 30.04, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:03 am, Sunset 9:25 pm.

Sunny today with a high in the lower 80s. N winds around 5 mph becoming NW in the afternoon.

Mostly clear overnight. Low around 60. Light winds.

We sure could use some rain as the grass is getting pretty much more brown than green in many places. There is a small chance of some rain moving in Saturday night, but who knows by the time we get there? A couple more 90-degree days coming before then, so all the more reason why we could sure use some if any rain does put in an appearance. Fingers crossed. Next week is looking like it could be in the comfort zone. Nothing extreme showing up right now. Again, fingers crossed. Today is a winner. Low humidity does that, doesn’t it? Gotta love it.

Today and tomorrow should be way more comfortable than Tuesday -which was horrendously hot. Friday and Saturday will heat up again with a pretty fair chance of rain coming in on Saturday to give us a nice cool down on Sunday. Looks like an interesting week.

Tuesday, June 21, 2022-SW Michigan-Hottest Day Of The Week

Partly cloudy with a 20% chance of overnight showers and thunderstorms. Low in the lower 70s. W winds 5=15 mph with gusts to 25 in the evening.

No question about it, today will be hot. Tomorrow will be a tad cooler but don’t get too excited, it will still be in the 80s. Warm, but not tropic hot like today. We can get through this – just stay find a cool place to duck in to whenever you can and hydrate as often as possible. The first official day of summer is coming in with a vengeance.

Monday, June 20, 2022-SW Michigan-Gonna Be A Hot Week

Currently 72 with an average wind from the S of 3 mph. Feels like 72 degrees. Dew Point 56, Barometer 30.1, Humidity 57%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:02 am, Sunset 9;29 pm.

Mostly sunny today with a high in the upper 80s. SW winds 10-15 mph.

Mostly clear overnight with a low in the mid 60s. SW winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20 in the evening.

We could jolly well see several 90-degree days this week. Not going to be a comfortable stretch by any means for those who prefer more moderate numbers.  We just need to take it easy, hydrate and try to get into someplace with A/C as often as possible to cool down.  Summer seems to be settling in for the long haul and looks like at least 80-degree days will be our norm. It will seem much more pleasant when we think back at it all once the brutality of winters swings back around. As it will.

This weekend’s weather is about ideal. Cool good sleeping nights, comfortable, sunny days. Doesn’t get a whole lot better than this. And it won’t even come close to being this good during the coming week. The national weather map is fascinating with the Jet Stream showing a big dip to the left of us, another one to the right of us. And here we are, stuck in the middle with the heat. All next week. Just be prepared for 90 and upper 80s every single day. In the meantime, get out and about and enjoy this lovely weekend.

Friday, June 17, 2022-SW Michigan-Glorious Summer Weather

Currently 73 with an average wind from the SW of 4 mph. Feels like 73 degrees. Dew Point 53, Barometer 29.95, Humidity 50%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:02 am, Sunset 9:24 pm.

Sunny with a high in the upper 70s today. NW winds 10-20 mph with gusts to 30.

Clear tonight with a low in the lower 50s, upper 40s. N winds 5-15 mph.

This is fantastic weather, and it promises to carry on right through the weekend. We’re going to set aside the fact that it will be leading into one really hot week ahead. We’ll be looking at 90s or upper 80s for most of the week. So…enjoy the heck out of these lovely days, get out and about and breath in the fresh summer air. And if you’re like me, turn that A/C off and let that fresh air roll wander the house. It’s all good.

Thursday, June 16, 2022-SW Michigan-Several Comfortable Days On The Way

Currently 76 with an average wind from the SSW of 4 mph. Feels like 76 degrees. Dew Point 66, Barometer 29.91, Humidity 69%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:02 am, Sunset 9:23 pm.

Clear overnight with a low in the lower 60s. W winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 30 decreasing to 20.

Today and tomorrow we likely will see 80 degrees, but the weekend seems to promise comfort in the 70s. Enjoy it because immediately after we’ll be right back into the heat with the A/C blaring.  It’s good to get these little bits of relief from the intense heat. Helps us to cope with it. Well, as best we can. At any rate, next week looks to be a warm one.

Wednesday, June 15-2022-SW Michigan-A Bit Of Heat Relief Coming Tonight

Wednesday, June 15-2022-SW Michigan-A Bit Of Heat Relief Coming Tonight

Currently 85 with an average wind from the S of 5 mph. Feels like 91 degrees. Dew Point 72, Barometer 29.9, Humidity 65%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:02 am, Sunset 9:23 pm.

Mostly sunny with a high in the mid 90s. SW winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 25. Heat index to 104.

Partly cloudy with a 50% chance of overnight rain and thunderstorms. Low in the upper 60s. SW winds 10-15 mph.

There is a Heat Advisory in effect today. Try to stay out of the out there as much as possible. Keep to the A/C if you can and hydrate. We can look forward to a bit of relief from this sweltering heat by tomorrow. It will still be warm, in the 80s, but the 90s will have vanished – at least for this week. We are in a very slight chance for some heavy weather with the rain system coming through tonight, but it does look as if it will be going to the north. At least it will sweep away some of our heat.

Right now it appears as if this is going to be a rinse and repeat set up for next Monday through Wednesday. Back up into the 90s. We’ll worry about that when we get there. For now, just keep cool, watch out for the slight possibility of some tricky overnight weather and look forward to a better weather weekend.

Tuesday, June 14, 2022-SW Michigan-Going To Get Hot

Tuesday, June 14, 2022-SW Michigan-Going To Get Hot

Currently 71 with an average wind from the E of 3 mph. Feels like 71 degrees. Dew Point 68, Barometer 29.88, Humidity 98%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 6:12 am, Sunset 9:22 pm.

Partly sunny until midday becoming mostly sunny. High in the loer 90s. SE winds 5-10 mph becoming S in the afternoon. Heat index 97-102.

Mostly clear overnight. low in the mid 70s. S winds 5-10 mph.

This morning isn’t bad. The air is a bit close, but the heat hasn’t settled in as yet. It will, evidently. Later today and tomorrow will be doozies. Looking ahead, it would appear about next Tuesday we’re going to be nestled up into the 90s again. I’d say get used to this, but there is no getting used to such heat. It’s only surviving.

Had a decent rain overnight. Not much in my little corner of the world but some along with some thunder. Totally missed the wind, hail, etc. that was predicted to go along with it. No problem here. Didn’t feel left out at all. Doesn’t really look like much rain in the forecast either so whatever we got is what we’re getting for awhile.
