It appears the wind is determined to blow away the last of the month of February. Alas…it will also blow in some chilly temperatures for this weekend. We won’t get out of the 30 degree range through Sunday. Those numbers should rebound nicely by Monday but this will not be a spring-like weekend. Not a particularly nice beginning for the month of March but then even though March could be nice, March can also be a tad shaky as far as keeping temperatures even throughout. In the meantime, hold on to your hat today ’cause the wind is going to start whipping things around. Don’t want you to be one of those things so be cautious.

Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025-SW Michigan-Chilly Morning For Us

Currently 36 with an average wind from he SSW of 4 mph. Feels like 30 degrees. Dew Point 35, Barometer 29.72, Humidity 100%, Visibility 1.5 mi., Sunrise 7:22 am, Sunset 6:29 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of rain and rain/snow showers. Low in the upper 20s. NW winds 5-15 becoming SW 5-10 with gusts to 25 overnight.

Another nearly colorless sky waiting for us this morning with the air full of…not sure. Not quite snow or fog or whatever. Just thick wintry air? Not quite spring-like weather getting to us for a while. Chance of a frozen mix situation showing up before the month ends. This will leave us with a very chilly weekend to begin the month of March. Our temperatures will rise again at the beginning of the week. We will, of course, have a dip in the numbers about mid week – those will be in the 30s and will promptly rise again quite quickly. Up and down numbers seem to be the way it goes in early spring here. In the meantime we need to get past this cold weekend. We can do that, knowing the weather will improve as a reward. March. Seems like it’s been about forever waiting for this month to get here. And we all know…MARCH COULD BE NICE.

Wednesday Feb. 26, 2025-SW Michigan-Not Finished With Cold Temps Yet

Wednesday Feb. 26, 2025-SW Michigan-Not Finished With Cold Temps Yet

Currently 36 with a 2 mph wind from the E. Feels like 36 degrees. Dew Point 35, Barometer 29.88, Humidity 94%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 7:23 am, Sunrise 6:27 pm.

70% chance of rain showers possibly mixed with freezing rain and snow showers until midday then afternoon rain. High in the lower 40s. E winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20.

60% chance of rain showers. Low in the mid 30s. NE winds 5-10 mp becoming NW overnight.

February is going to depart in a fairly comfortable manner, but March seems intent on beginning with some cold numbers. This is going to be a chilly weekend. Never fear – once that clipper system is finished with us, things will warm up again. As usual, this time of year we can expect rounds of rain…and unfortunately from time to time that precipitation could be mixed with a little frozen mix or snow showers. Only thing to do is celebrate the good days and get through those not so much in that category.  We can do this. We’re heading into Spring and that can only be good.

Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025-SW Michigan-Weather Fluctuations Natural

Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025-SW Michigan-Weather Fluctuations Natural

Currently 41 with an average wind from the SW of 3 mph. Feels like 41 degrees. Dew Point 39, Barometer 29.74, Humidity 80%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:25 am, Sunset 6:26 pm.

Partly sunny with a high in the mid 40s. NW winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20 in the afternoon.

Partly cloudy in the evening becoming mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of light freezing rain overnight. Patchy fog. Low in the upper 20s. Light winds.

It’s that time of year when our temperatures will be up and down, we’ll get some rain, some freezing rain, a bit of snow. About the only thing we can do is be aware of weather circumstances and be careful. It’s the freezing rain stuff that is the worst. Chance tonight, perhaps Wednesday, maybe Friday. This is the one that creates the most hazardous driving, walking. Be careful. And look for some chilly temperatures to return to us over the weekend.

Monday, Feb. 24, 2025-SW Michigan-40 Degrees Feels Delightful

Monday, Feb. 24, 2025-SW Michigan-40 Degrees Feels Delightful

Currently 41 with an average wind from the SSW of 10 mph. Feels like 34 degrees. Dew Point 34, Barometer 29.6, Humidity 66%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:26 am, Sunset 6:25 pm.

Partly sunny with a high in the mid 40s. SW winds 10-20 mph with gusts to 40.

Mostly cloudy with al ow in the lower 30s. W winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20 in the evening.

A little breezy out there this morning but it certainly feels spring-like. Not to be fooled though. It isn’t. Our temperatures will stay in the 40s most of this week but it will end back in the 30s for the weekend – with the chance for a bit of snow Friday night and Saturday. Rain or snow. 40s or 30s. It’s that time of year, fluctuating all over the place as winter weakens and spring begins to gain a bit of strength.  I guess the best thing to do is enjoy the 40s, bare with the 30s and eventually it will all even out. We’re all heading in the right direction.

Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025-SW Michigan-40 Degree Days Coming

Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025-SW Michigan-40 Degree Days Coming

Currently 28 with a calm wind from the SSE. Feels like 28 degrees. Dew Point 27, Barometer 30.04, Humidity 92%, Visibility 9 mi, Sunrise 7:28 am, Sunset 6:24 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of afternoon snow showers. High in the mid30s SW winds 5-10 mph.

Partly cloudy evening becoming mostly cloudy overnight. Low in the upper 20s. S winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 25.

Not today but starting I think tomorrow we should see a week of 40 degree days. Even with a bit of rain tossed in, which will eat away a lot of the snow. Things won’t stay in that range on a steady basis yet, some 3o degree days on the way and we will likely see a few in the 20s. But we’re heading in the right direction now. That is encouraging.

Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025-SW Michigan-Warm Up Still On The Way

Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025-SW Michigan-Warm Up Still On The Way

Currently 21 with an average wind from the SSE of 5 mph. Feels like 12 degrees. Dew Point 18, Barometer 30.17, Humidity 85%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:30 am, Sunset 6:22 pm.

Partly sunny with a high in the upper 20s. SW winds 10-20 mph with gusts to 30.

Partly cloudy becoming mostly cloudy. Low in he lower 20s. SW winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 25.

Okay, so it hasn’t arrived yet, but a little warm up is on the way. We should end up the month of February in the 40s but alas…we will be starting the month of March back in the chill. Hopefully it won’t be forever.  Those 40 degrees are going to seem wonderful and the loss of them, even temporary, will feel downright insulting. Such is Mother Nature’s grand scheme of things. Wobbly at best. Anyway, the chance of some rain about Wednesday maybe Thursday will go a long way toward melting away the snow ground cover. Looking forward to it.

Friday, Feb. 21, 2025-SW Michigan-Little Warm Up For Us

Friday, Feb. 21, 2025-SW Michigan-Little Warm Up For Us

Currently 27 with a 3 mph wind from the WSW. Feels like 27 degrees. Dew Point 19, Barometer 30.5, Humidity 71%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:31 am, Sunset 6:21 pm.

Partly sunny with a high in the upper 20s. Light winds becoming W 5-10 in the afternoon.

Partly cloudy with a low 15-20. SW winds 5-10 mph with gusts to around 20.

Believe it or not we’re going to be looking at some temperatures in the 40 degree range the beginning of the week. Don’t get overly excited about it because we won’t be finished with the 20 degrees, but those should be few and far between as our days go along. For now, most of us are eagerly looking forward to anything as comfortable as 40 degrees melting some of the snow ground cover. We’ve had our share of it this month.

Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025-SW Michigan-Temps To Rise A Bit

Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025-SW Michigan-Temps To Rise A Bit

Currently 18 degrees with an average wind from the WNW of 6 mph. Feels like 12 degrees. Dew Point 17, Humidity 91%, Barometer 30.25, Visibility 3 mi., Sunrise 7:33 am, Sunset 6:20 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of snow showers until midday. High in the mid 20s. NW winds around 10 mph.

Mostly cloudy becoming partly cloudy. Low 10-15 mph. NW winds 5-10 mph becoming light.

Slowly but surely our temperatures are set to begin a rise in numbers. Nothing speedy but gradually. Not that we won’t see a brief set-back now and again – like around the first of March – but they should be brief and bearable.  There’s been something like 10 named winter storms with the latest being Kingston this year – so far. And we’ve had several of the frigid arctic blasts of air that have sent everything into a deep freeze. We’re mostly all ready for this winter to begin winding up. At least we’re heading in the right direction.

Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025-SW Michigan-Not Warming Up Yet

Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025-SW Michigan-Not Warming Up Yet

Currently 16 with an average wind from the S of 2 mph. Feels like 16 degrees. Dew Point 12, Humidity 88%, Barometer 30.41, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:34 am, Sunset 6:19 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of afternoon snow showers. High in the lower 20s. Light winds becoming NW 5-10 mph.

Mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of overnight snow showers. Low near 10. Light winds.

Okay, so looking ahead into next week we’ll  be seeing much better numbers and with March coming along, they get even better. For now, our temperatures are staying in the not so comfortable range. So…a little more snow, a little more cold. Nothing new but it’s getting more than tiresome. This blast of arctic air is coming down from the Arctic Circle and there’s nothing good about it. Not for anyplace in our country having to deal with it now. Our only hope is that it will eventually depart. We just need to have to hang in there long enough to get to the other side. We can do this.
