Nothing like Michigan skies in the winter months. Nothing like it being flooded with sunlight for the most part, that’s for certain. No wonder we look forward to spring so much, we’re just hungry for the brightness of sunshine. Not that we don’t get a few bright days between then and now, but not nearly as many as we’d like – or need. In the meantime, look for a chance of rain moving in perhaps Sunday night and lasting for what looks like most of next week.

Friday, Nov. 15, 2024-SW Michigan-Colorless Sky Morning

Friday, Nov. 15, 2024-SW Michigan-Colorless Sky Morning

Currently 46 with an average wind from the W of 2. Feels like 46 degrees. Dew Point 46, Humidity 100%, Barometer 30.06, Visibility 8 mi., Sunrise 7:35 am, Sunset 5:18 pm.

Cloudy with patchy drizzle until about midday. High in the lower 50s. N W winds around 10 mph.

Mostly cloudy with a patchy overnight fog. Low in the upper 30s. Light winds.

Not a very pleasant morning out there again.  Sort of damp and drizzly but at least we aren’t getting snow yet. Anything is better than that. We do need rain as we’re technically in a drought situation – along with what seems to be the majority of the nation. We are moving into the season where much of that could and should be corrected. Some heavy rain would do that rather quickly but snow works, too. It simply has to fall and melt, which it has a habit of doing. Either way, if things go as usual, our bright sunny days will be dwindling. Clouds and gloom will be the name of our game for the most part. Today is certainly fitting in there right cozy.

Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024-SW Michigan-Gloomy Mid-Month Morning

Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024-SW Michigan-Gloomy Mid-Month Morning

Mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of overnight rain. Low around 40. Light winds.

Not a pleasant day, a little on the chilly side. A good day to be inside, I reckon. Look for another chance for some rain on Sunday, as of now not a huge chance, but it is out there. Monday may clear out but not the rest of the week. Looking like a wet one.

Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024-SW Michigan-November Getting Ready To Change

Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024-SW Michigan-November Getting Ready To Change

Currently 40 with an average wind from the ENE of 3 mph. Feels like 40 degrees. Dew Point 34, Humidity 73%,  Barometer 30.24, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:33 am, Sunset 5:20 pm.

90% chance of overnight rain showers. Low in the lower 40s. SE winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 35.

We should be seeing a few 50 degree days over the weekend, but don’t be deceived. By the end of next week we will likely be in store for some mixed precipitation weather. Heading in that direction. Colder and more solid precipitation, factors that are in our future. Could be worse, could be there already so I reckon we’ll lucky. If we were really lucky, in my book, we’d be heading into spring rather than winter but alas…my book isn’t the one being readied for reading.

Mostly clear tonight with a  low in the upper 20s. E winds 5-10 mph.

Starting to feel like November with temperatures like today and tonight. Should be a bit warmer tomorrow and the rest of the week back into the 50s. Still looking at rain moving in by Sunday and lasting through next week. Lucky that for now it’s only rain and not snow. That will, unfortunately come all too soon. But not yet. Not here even though the Western part of the nation is getting massive snowfall already. We all know that eventually the jet stream is going to be bringing that stuff in our direction. We can wait. Willingly.

Monday, Nov. 11, 2024-SW Michigan-Cloudy And Windy Today

Monday, Nov. 11, 2024-SW Michigan-Cloudy And Windy Today

Currently 53 with an average wind from the SW of 10 mph. Feels like 53 degrees. Dew Point 45, Humidity 74%, Barometer 29.72, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 7:30 am, Sunset 5:22 pm.

Partly cloudy with a low in the lower 30s. N winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 40 decreasing to 5-10 with gusts to 30 overnight.

A gloomy morning with plenty of wind to help move the damp leaves around. And there are still so many of them out there. The rain we don’t get this morning will likely get another crack at us around Thursday. Again on Sunday and the rain moving in on Sunday looks determined then to stick around for the entire week. On some of the sites that dread S word is daring to sneak in and mix with some of that rain. Don’t care to see any of that, but unfortunately the hint of its arrival is out there. Alas…it’s that time of year, isn’t it?

Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024-SW Michigan-Rainy Sunday

Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024-SW Michigan-Rainy Sunday

Currently 49 with an average wind from the SSE of 2 mph. Feels like 49 degrees. Dew Point 49, Humidity 100%, Barometer 29.81, Visibility 4 mi., Sunrise 7:29 am, Sunset 5:23 pm.

Areas of drizzle then 70% chance of rain with a slight chance of a thunderstorm. High in the upper 50s.  S winds 5-10 mph with gusts to around 20 becoming SW 10-15 mph with gusts to around 30.

Mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of overnight rain. Low in the upper 40s. W winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 25.

A rather gloomy day for us with the rain perhaps holding over for a slight chance of a bit more tomorrow morning. After this batch clears up, nothing until Wednesday or Thursday. And again – guess when? – you got it, next Sunday. Why is it when our rainy times come along they almost always include our Sundays? At least that’s the picture for now – it could change by next weekend, but that’s a wait and see situation. Today prepare to be on the damp side if you’re going outside. Just the way it is.

Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024-SW Michigan-Starting The Day With Sunshine

Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024-SW Michigan-Starting The Day With Sunshine

Currently 44 with an average wind from the E of 5 mph. Feels like 39 degrees. Dew Point 38, Humidity80%, Barometer 30.31, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:28 am, Sunset 5:24 pm.

80% chance of overnight rain. Low in the lower 40s. SE winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20 in the evening.

Beginning our day bright but will end up in clouds. Look for rain tonight and tomorrow – but then none again until about Wednesday. We do need the rain, so it’s good we’re in line to get some. And we are still grateful it’s only rain and not the heavy snow already falling out in the west. Not any where near ready for that.

Friday, Nov. 8, 2024-SW Michigan-Enjoying Sunshine

Friday, Nov. 8, 2024-SW Michigan-Enjoying Sunshine

Currently 52 with an average wind from the SW of 6 mph. Feels like 52 degrees. Dew Point 43, Humidity 70%, Barometer 30.16, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:26 am, Sunset 5:25 pm.

Clear with an overnight low in the lower 30s. N winds 5-10 mph becoming NE during the night hours.

Very bright but also chilly. That’s the name of the game for us from now on. We’ll take the chill as long as we keep getting the sunshine. We all know it won’t be forever before that dread S word starts showing up in our forecast. So far, so good. And it can hold off as long as possible for most of us.

Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024-SW Michigan-Sunny Cool November Weather

Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024-SW Michigan-Sunny Cool November Weather

Currently 52 with an average wind from the S of 3 mph. Feels like 52 degrees. Dew Point 42, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:25 am, Sunset 5:26 pm.

Sunny today with a high in the mid 50s. W winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20 in the afternoon.

Mostly clear with an overnight low in the lower 40s. W winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20.

Not a bad day. A little on the chilly side but then this is mostly the light jacket weather we’ll be in – until we won’t. Then we’re find our way into heavier jackets. At least it’s bright out there and that’s something. Michigan gets entirely too many cloudy days in the winter months so we appreciate those that aren’t.  Still looking for rain on Sunday, other than that, clear weather seems to be ours.
