Saturday, May 11, 2024-SW Michigan-Misty Rain Lingering This Morning

Saturday, May 11, 2024-SW Michigan-Misty Rain Lingering This Morning

Currently 52 with a 7 mph wind from the W. Feels like 52 degrees. Dew Point 46, Barometer 29.66, Humidity 90%, Visibility 9 mi, Sunrise 6:22 am, Sunset 8:55 pm

20% chance of rain until about midday then becoming partly cloudy. High in the upper 50s. NW winds 15-25 mph with gusts to 35.

Mostly clear tonight with a low around 40. NW wind 5-10 mph with gusts to 25 in the evening becoming light.

Sort of a misty rain outside right now which I’m told will clear away at some point. We may even see a glimpse of sun later today. And if the sky stays clear overnight, there is a chance we could see some of the northern lights. Worth a try to catch them. We don’t get that opportunity all that often here in SW Michigan. Looking like Mother’s Day is going to bring us delightful weather. Finger crossed. Next week could sunshine Tuesday and Wednesday but as of now, the rest of the week is looking decidedly damp. Time will tell.

Friday, May 10, 2024-SW Michigan-Welcome Sunshine Today

Friday, May 10, 2024-SW Michigan-Welcome Sunshine Today

Currently 55 with a calm wind from the SSW. Feels like 51 degrees. Dew Point 39, Barometer 29.92, Humidity 54%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:24 am, Sunset 8:54 pm.

Mostly sunny with a high in the mid 60s. SW winds around 10 mph with gusts to 20 in the afternoon.

Partly cloudy with an 80% chance of overnight showers. Low in the upper 40s. SW winds 5-15 mph.

Not overly warm today but at least it’s bright and sunny. No problem with that. Look for some rain perhaps tomorrow but the sun should return on Sunday. Just in time for Mother’s Day. How’s that for good scheduling?  A couple of sunny days, maybe Tuesday and Wednesday, but the rest of the week is seeing rain move in.  Again one of our mixed bag weeks of weather. For now, enjoy today’s sunshine, it’s a welcome sight.

Thursday, May 9, 2024-SW Michigan-Happily Uneventful Weather Here

Thursday, May 9, 2024-SW Michigan-Happily Uneventful Weather Here

Currently 55 with an ESE wind of 6 mph. Feels like 55 degrees. Dew Point 47, Barometer 29.78, Humidity 80%, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:25 am, Sunset 8:53 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of rain High around 60. E winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 25.

Mostly cloudy with a 30% chance of evening rain becoming partly cloudy overnight. Low in the lower 40s. NE winds 5-10 mph in the evening becoming light.

Considering all the misery the day after day rounds of storms and tornadoes happening in the south, our uneventful weather seems a blessing. Yes, indeed, it could be warmer and nicer but all things considered, we’ll take this and be grateful. Look for some sunshine maybe Friday, Sunday and perhaps Tuesday, but then be ready for rain most every single day next week. Might be a good week to do some spring cleaning or tackle some closets or drawers or whatnot. Anything inside while the rain keeps everything outside wet. Then fingers crossed maybe some warmth will finally come to us after such a  dismal week. But like I said, at least we aren’t facing severe weather and that is most certainly happy news.

Wednesday, May 8, 2024-SW Michigan-Michigan Reminded Of Tornado Damage

Wednesday, May 8, 2024-SW Michigan-Michigan Reminded Of Tornado Damage

Currently 59 with an average wind from the W of 7 mph. Feels like 59 degrees. Dew Point 51, Barometer 29.69, Humidity 67%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:26 am, Sunset 8:52 pm.

Sunny with a high in the lower 70s. W winds 10-15 mph with gusts to around 25.

Partly cloudy in the evening then cloudy with a 40% chance of rain. There could be a slight chance for a thunderstorm. Low in the upper 40s. NE winds 5-15 mph with gusts to around 25.

No damage in my area at all but a sad reminder yesterday that Michigan isn’t immune to the dangers of a tornado. The Portage area was hit hard. Lucky no deaths, something everyone can be grateful for. Tornado damage isn’t as usual in Michigan as it is in the south, but it can and has happened. Pays to pay attention to storm warnings.

No rain today, but rain tomorrow. In fact for the rest of the week the every other day for rain is the rule. Then once we get past Sunday – which for now looks dry – we’ll be looking at rain every single day. Not a happy thought, but it is what it is. At least for now. Just be prepared.

Tuesday, May 7, 2024-SW Michigan-Chilly With Rain Expected Later Today

Tuesday, May 7, 2024-SW Michigan-Chilly With Rain Expected Later Today

Currently 64 with an average wind from the SE of 6 mph. Feels like 64 degrees. Dew Point 43, Barometer 29.73, Humidity 50%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:27 am, Sunset 8:51 pm.

There is a marginal risk for severe weather today.

90% chance of rain showers and a thunderstorm. High in the upper 60s. SE winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 30.

Partly cloudy with a 50% chance of overnight showers and thunderstorms Low in the lower 50s. SW winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20.

Not a very comfortable day going on for us today. Chilly. Which means very likely the severe weather forecast for south of us won’t be much of a bother here abouts. Usually when we get severe stuff it’s hot, humid, with a cold front moving in. Feels very much as if that cold front has already arrived. Not appreciating a week as cool as this one in the month of May. Since I’m not exactly in charge of the controls, we’re stuck with this. But not happy about it.  In any case, watch for some storms to move in later today, early tonight.

Monday, May 6, 2024-SW Michigan-Sun Today, Rain Tomorrow

Monday, May 6, 2024-SW Michigan-Sun Today, Rain Tomorrow

Currently 61 with an average wind from the E of 6 mph. Feels like 61 degrees. Dew Point 45, Barometer 30.06, Humidity 62%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:28 am, Sunset 8:49 pm.

Partly sunny becoming mostly sunny. High in the lower 70s. E winds 19-15 mph.

Mostly clear overnight with a low in the mid 40s. E winds 5-15 mph.

Nicely sunny today but watch for some rain tomorrow. In fact, if it holds together as predicted, we should continue with a sunny, rainy day alternation for a while. And next week – yeah, I know, it’s a week away – we should be back in the 70 degrees after a week of mostly 60 degrees. Warmth is on the horizon – hopefully.

Sunday, May 5, 2024-SW Michigan-So, Where Is Our Hot Weather

Sunday, May 5, 2024-SW Michigan-So, Where Is Our Hot Weather

Currently 59 with a NE wind of 5 mph. Feels like 59 degrees. Dew Point 48, Barometer 30.02, Humidity 86%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:30 am, Sunset 8:48 pm.

Partly cloudy until midday then clearing. High around 70. N winds 5-15 mph.

Mostly clear with a low in the mid 40s. N winds around 10 mph becoming E overnight.

I don’t know. The weather know-alls and be-alls are knocking themselves out telling us how sweltering hot we’re supposed to be – or at least are going to be. Not exactly sure what they’re looking at, but from here all I see is cool weather ahead – and looking back, one of the most disappointingly chilly springs ever. I realize not everyone is happy with hot weather, but I know I sure am and I’m just not seeing it happen anytime soon around here.  Looking at the next week I’m seeing some rain, clouds, minimal sunshine, and cool temperatures. Not exactly fitting in with the weather gurus predictions so far. Not even close.

Saturday, May 4, 2024-SW Michigan-Nothing But Clouds So Far

Saturday, May 4, 2024-SW Michigan-Nothing But Clouds So Far

Currently 64 with an ESE wind of 6 mph. Feels like 64 degrees. Dew Point 58, Barometer 30.02, Humidity 89%, Visibility 5 mi. Sunrise 6:31 am, Sunset 8:47 pm.

Partly sunny. Patchy fog until midday. High in the upper 70s. E winds around 10 mph becoming SE.

60% chance of rain with a slight chance of a thunderstorm. Low in the mid 50s. S winds 5-10 mph becoming W overnight.

So – where is the sunshine? We were promised sunshine – well, maybe not exactly promised but strongly encouraged to expect it. Silly to put any stock in the weather forecast, right? Way too often things go awry. Like our missing morning sunshine today. Alas…At any rate, except for some rain tonight, no weekend rain. At least that’s what we’re told. Tomorrow is expected to be partly sunny – and dry. Sunshine for Monday, too. But then seeing rain coming our way for the next 4 days after that. In other words, look for a mostly wet week ahead.

Friday, May 3, 2024-SW Michigan-Rainy Start To Our Friday

Friday, May 3, 2024-SW Michigan-Rainy Start To Our Friday

Currently 64 with an average wind from the S of 3 mph. Feels like 64 degrees. Dew Point 61, Barometer 29.94, Humidity 100%, Visibility 7 mi., Sunrise 6:32 am, Sunset 8:46 pm.,

80% chance of rain with a chance for a thunderstorm until midday. High in the low 70s. W winds 5-10 mph becoming NW in the afternoon.

Partly cloudy overnight. Low around 50. NE winds 5-10 mph.

The rain should clear out later today and won’t revisit until about Tuesday. Still looking like a dry weekend. Watch for some pretty hot temperatures to be with us tomorrow. In fact, we could see an 80 degree day. Sunday won’t be that warm though. And in fact, after about next Wednesday, we will drop back down into the 60 degree range for the week. For those of us longing for warmth, it won’t be all that welcome but nothing to be done about it but wait it out. Which we are good at with all the practice we’ve had.

Thursday, May 2, 2024-SW Michigan-Rain Maybe Later Today And Overnight

Thursday, May 2, 2024-SW Michigan-Rain Maybe Later Today And Overnight

Currently 63 with an ESE wind of 7 mph. Feels like 63 degrees. Dew Point 47, Barometer 30.02, Humidity 58%, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 6:34 am, Sunset 8:45 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of afternoon rain. There is a very slight chance of some severe weather later on. High in the mid 70s. SE winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 20 in the afternoon.

70% chance of rain and thunderstorms overnight. Low in the upper 50s. SE winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 20 in the evening.

Our sunshine may vanish later on this afternoon when some rain could move in to replace it. Good chance for rain overnight and tomorrow but the weekend is still looking good. Some very nice warm temperatures are going to be with us until about next week Thursday when they’ll take a bit of a tumble. We could even see an 80 degree scattered in there. Sound fine to me. Bring it on. I’m more than ready for the warmth.
