Wednesday, April 10, 2024-SW Michigan-Couple Days Of Rain Coming

Wednesday, April 10, 2024-SW Michigan-Couple Days Of Rain Coming

Currently 46 with a 1 mph wind from the SSW. Feels like 46 degrees. Dew Point 40, Barometer 29.96, Humidity 62%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:07 am, Sunset 8:20 pm.

Mostly sunny today with a high in the mid 60s. SW winds 5-10 mph becoming W in the afternoon.

Partly cloudy with a 90% chance of rain. Low in the upper 40s. Light winds becoming E 5-15 mph with gusts to 25.

A nice day on tap for us today but look for rain Thursday and Friday. That’s okay because it’s leaving the way for a couple of great days over the weekend. We should have sunshine both days. I think we can live with this pattern. Well, we have to, but we can also like it, which I think we do.

Tuesday, April 9, 2024-SW Michigan-Mother Nature Was Kind To W Michigan

Tuesday, April 9, 2024-SW Michigan-Mother Nature Was Kind To W Michigan

Currently 63 with a W winds of 6 mph. Feels like 63 degrees. Dew Point 42, Barometer 29.84, Humidity 48%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:09 am, Sunset 8:19 pm.

Sunny. High in the mid 60s. W winds 10-20 with gusts to around 30.

Mostly clear. Low around 40. W winds 5-10 mph in the evening becoming light.

The W Michigan view of yesterday’s eclipse was delightful. We didn’t get a total eclipse but it was as close as it could be. The area darkened, the temperature dropped, shadows became weird – in fact everything felt a little weird. It was an experience not to be forgotten.

Look for some rain on Thursday and Friday but the weekend is appearing to be fantastic. Plentiful sunshine. Our temperatures may fluctuate a bit up and down, but the 50s seem to be as low as they’re going on for a while. We can deal with that.

Monday, April 8, 2024-SW Michigan-Lovely Day For An Eclipse

Monday, April 8, 2024-SW Michigan-Lovely Day For An Eclipse

Currently 52 with a 5 mph wind from the S. Feels like 52 degrees. Dew Point 41, Barometer 29.89, Humidity 64%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:11 am, Sunset 8:17 pm.

Sunny today with a high in the upper 60s. S winds 10-15 mph becoming SW 15-20 with gusts to 30.

Partly cloudy with a 30% chance of overnight rain showers. Low in the upper 40s. S winds 5-10 mph.

Frankly, living in Michigan, this is about as good a forecast for an eclipse as can be hoped for. We may, if the sky continues as is for the duration, get a splendid view of the total eclipse. Throughout Michigan there is anywhere from an 89 – 96% view possible. With the total eclipse due about 3:11 this afternoon. That is extraordinary. Just remember, either be wearing the approved special glasses or simply do not look at it. Your eyesight is the most important part of this event.

Look for some rain Thursday and Friday but the weekend is looking grand. We seem to have turned the corner and are heading in to real spring now. At last.

Sunday, April 7, 2024-SW Michigan-Temperatures On The Rise

Sunday, April 7, 2024-SW Michigan-Temperatures On The Rise

Currently 50 with a 4 mph wind from the SE. Feels like 50 degrees. Dew Point 29, Barometer 30.13, Humidity 47%, Visibility 10 mi, Sunrise 7:12 am, Sunset 8:16 pm.

Sunny until midday then mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of afternoon rain. High in the upper 50s. SE winds 5-15 mph increasing to 15-20 mph.

70% chance of overnight rain. Low in the lower 40s. SE winds 10-20 with gusts to 30.

We will likely get some rain later today and tonight but it, for now, does look as if we could luck out and have some clearing skies for the eclipse. I can’t imagine not being a bit excited about this. Our area won’t get another chance to see a sight like this for another 300 years. I know I’ll have my special glasses in place and will be ready – just in case Mother Nature decides to smile on us.

Good temperature range coming for the next week of 50s, even 60s. At the end of it all we could even see 70 degrees. This seems a bit like heaven.

Saturday, April 6, 2024-SW Michigan-A Pleasant Saturday

Saturday, April 6, 2024-SW Michigan-A Pleasant Saturday

Currently 41 with a 1 mph wind from the SSW. Feels like 41 degrees. Dew Point 28, Barometer 30.23, Humidity 47%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:14 am, Sunset 8:15 pm.

Sunny with a high in the upper 50s. N winds 5-10 mph.

Clear with an overnight low in the lower 30s. Light winds becoming E 5-10 mph.

Chance of rain tomorrow afternoon and overnight, but for now it looks as if we may luck out and get a chance to see the Eclipse.  Nothing certain – you know how it is with Michigan and clouds and whatnot. But I’d have those glasses ready just in case. I know I will – with fingers crossed for some properly cleared skies at the proper time.

Friday, April 5, 2024-SW Michigan-Some Sunshine For A Change

Look for some sunshine tomorrow and perhaps some on Sunday. Although Sunday does offer us the chance for some rain, too.  And Monday? The day we’re all hoping for cloudless skies and a clear views of the Eclipse? Not so sure about that. Looks like some clouds for us, but let’s hope not totally cloudy. Going to be about 300 years before we get another chance like this and I don’t know about you, but I’m fairly certain I won’t be able to hang around for it.

Sounds like something to look forward to, doesn’t it? Maybe some sunshine peeking through this weekend and the possibility of some 60 degree days coming to us next week. We could see a few rainy days next week, too, but with warmer temperatures those days don’t sound so dreary. We are more than ready for some good news to be connected with our weather. Might be on the way.

Okay, so no joy from the sunshine today – or tomorrow. But wait a minute…looks as if we could be blessed with some brightness Friday through Sunday. Seriously. At least for the moment that is the view we’re looking at. Should be wonderful. No rain, no snow, some sunshine? Fingers crossed.

Okay, with computer issues resolved for now, I’m back to observing the weather. Trouble is, this current weather isn’t worth too much attention. Seems as if April is marching along at the same pace as March. Slow to recognize this is spring. We seem to be looking at cool temperatures and possibilities of rain now and again in the near future. I sure do wish there was something wonderful to report. Alas….Mother Nature is not playing nice.
