Friday, June 9, 2023-SW Michigan-Several Not So Good Days Coming Up

Friday, June 9, 2023-SW Michigan-Several Not So Good Days Coming Up

Currently 66 with an average wind from the WSW of 2 mph. Feels like 66 degrees. Dew Point 48, Barometer 29.84, Humidity 46%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:02 am, Sunset 9:20 pm.

Sunny today with a high in the upper 70s. NW winds 5-15 mph.

Mostly clear overnight with a low in the lower 50s. W winds around 10 mph becoming SW during the night.

Today and tomorrow the temperature should be about the same. Comfortable. However, rain will be moving in Saturday night and bringing along with it a dip in our temperature lasting until about next Wednesday. Chilly and rain is not what we were hoping for. We were definitely hoping for rain, but a cold rain isn’t exactly what we wanted. It is, however, probably what we’re going to be getting. So, I wouldn’t be planning on enjoying the great outdoors Sunday through Tuesday ’cause that great outdoors is very likely to be cold and wet. Just wait, it’s going to warm back up in no time after that.

Thursday, June 8, 2023-SW Michigan-Unhealthy Air Hanging Around

Thursday, June 8, 2023-SW Michigan-Unhealthy Air Hanging Around

Currently 64 with an average wind from the NW of 4 mph. Feels like 64 degrees. Dew Point 41, Barometer 29.8, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:03 am, Sunset 9:19 pm.

Sunny with a high in the mid 70s. N winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 25 in the afternoon.

Mostly clear with a low in the upper 40s. N winds 5-10 mph with gusts to around 20 in the evening.

Sunny skies for us with still no hint of rain. However, looking very much like Sunday through Tuesday will bring us welcome much needed rain. Finally.

In the meantime, be aware that our air quality isn’t the best due to the more than 9,000,000 acres of fires burning in Canada.  Yesterday the air quality in New York was crazy beyond the danger zone, better today but still extremely unhealthy. We are fortunate here that we aren’t facing the brunt of that smoke danger. Still and all, it’s not good out there for those with breathing problems. Just be careful. The air currents aloft are not favorable for now of blocking that smoke, or moving it out further into the ocean. It’s the same pressure that is keeping us in cooler temperatures. A change is coming in about a week or so, but for now, that smoke is leaking down into the states in a very unhealthy way. Just be cautious and aware that breathing outside for the present isn’t the best for those who need to be alert for bad air issues.

Wednesday, June 7, 2023-SW Michigan-Cool Front Moving Through

Wednesday, June 7, 2023-SW Michigan-Cool Front Moving Through

Currently 64 with an average wind from the NNE 1 mph. Feels like 64 degrees. Dew Point 47, Barometer 29.82, Humidity 58%, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 6:03 am, Sunset 9:19 pm.

Sunny with a high in the mid 70s. N winds 5-15 mph.

Clear with a low in the upper 40s. NE winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 25 becoming N overnight.

A strong cold front with dry air is moving on down through our state, bringing much cooler air. The dry air, unfortunately, is only adding to the chance of wild fires already strong due to lack of rain. Just fingers crossed that everyone is careful about not creating any problems. There is a chance of some rain moving in Sunday, maybe Monday and Tuesday of next week. We certainly can use it if it comes about. Did catch the picture of a small plane this morning but nary a cloud. No clouds in the sky either rain laden or not.

We do have some of the Canadian smoke in our atmosphere but not nearly as much as states to the east of us. Real lung/breathing issues for many people as a result. Can’t even imagine how bad it is in Canada. Must be horrible.

Tuesday, June 6, 2023-SW Michigan-Hazy Skies Hanging Around

Tuesday, June 6, 2023-SW Michigan-Hazy Skies Hanging Around

Currently 68 with an average wind from the SE of 4 mph. Feels like 68 degrees. Dew Point 56, Barometer 29.87, Humidity 63%, Visibility 7 mi., Sunrise 6:03 am, Sunset 9:18 pm.

A mix of sun and cloud this morning will becoming a cloudy afternoon sky. Haze. N E winds 5-10 mph.

Partly cloudy overnight with a low in the upper 40s. NE winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 25 in the evening.

Our weather is unchanging for now. The haze from the Canadian fire remains over much of the US affecting breathing a heart related issues for many. The clouds we are seeing now and then have no intention of bringing us rain for now. Perhaps this coming Sunday and Monday we might finally see some much-needed precipitation. Let’s hope so. Don’t like to see a Sunday with rain but at this stage we’ll take whatever day we can get that has any rain in it.

Monday, June 5, 2023-SW Michigan-Comfortable But Dry Week Coming

Monday, June 5, 2023-SW Michigan-Comfortable But Dry Week Coming

Currently 68 with an average wind from the NNW of 4 mph. Feels like 68 degrees. Dew Point 43, Barometer 29.97, Humidity 32, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:04 am, Sunset 9:17 pm.

Mostly sunny today with a high in the lower 80s. Light winds becoming NW 5-10 mph in the afternoon.

Partly cloudy overnight with a low in the mid 50s. Haze likely. NW winds 5-10 mph becoming N.

Not a bad week ahead of us temperature-wise. Very much in the comfort zone. We ae still so very much in need of rain though. None of which is in the forecast. Perhaps next Sunday? There is as of now a tiny chance for some then, but it’s a long stretch between now and then so even that little opportunity might vanish. I hope not.

Sunday, June 4, 2023-SW Michigan-Blessedly Cooler

Sunday, June 4, 2023-SW Michigan-Blessedly Cooler

Currently 63 with an average wind from the NE of 8 mph. Feels like 63 degrees. Dew Point 40, Barometer 30.03, Humidity 47%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:04 am, Sunset 9:17 pm.

Sunny with a high in the lower 80s. E winds 10-20 mph.

Partly cloudy tonight with a low in the lower 50s. E winds 5-10 mph in the evening becoming light.

No rain in sight but at least the temperature is lower. Feels good but some rain would feel even better. Things are drying out to a dangerous condition already. Let’s all hope some clouds move in that mean business and bring us some moisture soon. In the meantime, enjoy the cooler air.

Saturday, June 3, 2023-SW Michigan-Welcome Cool Down Starts Tomorrow

Saturday, June 3, 2023-SW Michigan-Welcome Cool Down Starts Tomorrow

Currently 81 with an average wind from the S of 4 mph. Feels like 81 degrees. Dew Point 60, Barometer 29.96, Humidity 50%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:04 am, Sunset 9:16 pm.

Mostly sunny through afternoon becoming partly cloudy with a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms. High around 90. NE 10-15 mph.

Mostly clear with evening haze. Low in the lower 50s. E winds 10-15 mph.

Another tiny chance for a shower later today but I don’t think we can count on much materializing from this opportunity. What we can count on is our temperature will be dropping and tomorrow will be more comfortable than it’s been the past few days. Pretty sure most of us will be applauding that news. Cooler days will be more than welcome. What isn’t welcome at this stage is the lack of rain in our forecasts. Things are drying out and that’s not good news for any of us, especially farmers.  We’ve been waiting for warm weather but it needs to be mixed with a fair amount of rain to help things grow. To keep things growing. This dry weather isn’t helping any of that.

Friday, June 2, 2023-SW Michigan-Couple More Days Of Intense Heat

Friday, June 2, 2023-SW Michigan-Couple More Days Of Intense Heat

Currently 73 with an average wind from the NE of 2 mph. Feels like 73 degrees. Dew Point 55, Barometer 30.02, Humidity 45%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:05 am, Sunset 9:15 pm.

Mostly sunny today with a high in the lower 90s. Light winds.

Partly cloudy overnight with a low in the lower 60s. NE winds around 5 mph.

So – today and tomorrow will stay in the uncomfortably hot range, but don’t give up hope, relief is in sight. Next week will offer cooler temps, although not any sign of rain in the offering. The month of June is definitely beginning hot and dry. Difficult to tell at this point whether this is a sign of how our summer is going to go. It would be nice to have some rain move into our area once in a while. Things are drying out already. I reckon we’ll just have to wait and see how it goes. Today it’s going hot. That much we can count on.

Thursday, June 1, 2023-SW Michigan-Still A Tiny Chance For Some Rain

Thursday, June 1, 2023-SW Michigan-Still A Tiny Chance For Some Rain

Currently 82 with an average wind from the ESE of 3 mph. Feels like 81 degrees. Dew Point 58, Barometer 29.88, Humidity 40%, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 6:05 am, Sunset 9:14 pm.

Mostly sunny with a 30% chance of a stray shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon. High in the lower 90s. SE winds around 10 mph with gusts to 20.

Mostly clear with a low in the lower 60. W winds around 10 mph with gusts to around 25 becoming light overnight.

So – yesterday not a hint of rain fell in our area. Some wayward clouds did float past, not even pretending to bring rain with them. Today we have the same chance for a bit of rain. Probably with the same outcome. The one thing we can count on is the heat. This will be with us until the beginning of next week. At that time we could see a break from this oppressive heat. In the meantime, try to stay cool. June is starting off a proper summer month. Hot and dry.
