Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022-SW Michigan-High Wind Warning Today

Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022-SW Michigan-High Wind Warning Today

Currently 27 with an average wind from the SW of 7 mph. Feels like 27 degrees. Dew Point 22, Humidity 79%, Barometer 29.68, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:52 am, Sunset 5:08 pm.

High Wind Advisory In Effect Today

Windy with an 80% chance of light snow showers today. High in the lower 30s. W winds 20-25 mph with gusts to 40.

Cloudy becoming partly cloudy. There will be a 40% chance of snow showers tonight. Low in the lower 20s. Winds 15-25 mph with gusts to 35.

Gloomy, windy and cold. Pretty much sums up this day. Fair chance of some snow showers without much of an accumulation expected. Mostly it will be all flying fragments of cold. Not a pleasant day to be out and about. Best to be inside watching things flying about from the warm side of the window if that’s possible. No warm up in store for us now. A bit of up and down but mostly heading down. After all, it’s the end of November in Michigan. About what we should and do expect.

Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022-SW Michigan-Rain Coming Overnight and Tomorrow

Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022-SW Michigan-Rain Coming Overnight and Tomorrow

Currently 39 with an average wind from the ENE of 4 mph. Feels like 35 degrees. Dew Point 39, Humidity 99%, Barometer 29.81, Visibility 8 mi., Sunrise 7:51 am, Sunset 5:09 pm.

Cloudy with a 50% chance of afternoon rain. High in the lower 50s. SE winds 5-15 mph increasing to 15-25 mph with gusts to 35.

100% chance of overnight rain. Low in the lower 30s. S winds 10-20 mph becoming W 15-25 with gusts to 35.

The week coming at us looks to have temperatures in the 30s and 40s, but the nighttime temps look cool enough to make sure the heated bird bath is on. Chilling down. And I’d be really, really surprised to see yet another 50-degree day pop up after today. Feels like this is the last one. Surprises happen though so who really knows?  Just looking very unlikely to me. So far, no big snowfalls coming at us for a while either. December will come in cool but at least we won’t be buried under snow. And think about it. November will be over very soon and that only leaves 3 miserable wintry months. Yeah, I know March could be bad, too, but then again, March could be nice. So, December, January, February…that’s winter and it’s on the way. But we made it through November with only one big mess to have to get through. And we got through it. Gear up for what’s left, I suppose, is the only way to make it to spring. And personally, I’m already thinking spring ’cause it’s the only way I can get through winter.

Monday, Nov. 28, 2022-SW Michigan-A Mild Monday For Us

Monday, Nov. 28, 2022-SW Michigan-A Mild Monday For Us

Currently 37 with a calm wind from the NNW. Feels like 34 degrees. Dew Point 30, Humidity 75%, Barometer 29.86, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:50 am, Sunset 5:09 pm.

Partly sunny today with a high around 40. L winds becoming S about 5 mph in the afternoon.

Partly cloudy becoming mostly cloudy. Low in the lower 30s. S winds 5 – 10 mph with gusts to 20.

Today will be a nice quiet day. Not overly warm, but not bitter cold, either. Those 50-degrees keep surprising me by popping up now and then. Tomorrow could be one of those surprises. Expect some rain along with it, and then look for a rain/snow mix on Wednesday. So, this is the best day you’ll have to be out and about tending to whatever needs tending.

Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022-SW Michigan-Chilly Rain For Us Today

Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022-SW Michigan-Chilly Rain For Us Today

Currently 39 with an average wind from the ENE of 4 mph. Feels like 39 degrees. Dew Point 39, Humidity 100%, Barometer 29.37, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:49, Sunset 5:10 pm.

90% chance of rain. High in the lower 40s. NE winds 5-10 mph becoming N 5-15 with gusts to 25 mph.

Mostly cloudy becoming partly cloudy overnight. Low in the lower 30s. NW winds 5-15 mph.

Out and about this morning in the chilly rain. Happy only that it wasn’t snow. Could have been worse had it been. Looks like rain again about Wednesday and perhaps a rain, snow mix around Friday night. So far, so good Mother Nature holding wintry weather at bay for the time being. Color me happy about that.

Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022-SW Michigan-Weekend Starting Out Good, Rain Coming Later

Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022-SW Michigan-Weekend Starting Out Good, Rain Coming Later

Currently 40 with an average wind from the S of 4 mph. Feels like 33 degrees. Dew Point 38, Humidity 93%, Barometer 29.93, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:48 am, Sunset 5:10 pm.

Sunny. High in the lower 50s. SW winds 10-15 mph with gusts to 35.

Partly cloudy in the evening becoming mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of rain. Low in the mid 30s. SW winds 5-10 mph with gusts to around 20 becoming light.

So, our Saturday will be an okay day, but Sunday is sounding like rain. I guess half a good weekend is better than nothing at all, right? At least we aren’t dealing with snow for now. Sooner or later I’m sure that will return, but not right now.

Friday, Nov. 25, 2022-SW Michigan-Not A Bad Weekend Ahead

Friday, Nov. 25, 2022-SW Michigan-Not A Bad Weekend Ahead

Currently 39 with an average wind from the WSW of 4 mph. Feels like 34 degrees. Dew Point 36, Humidity 88%, Barometer 30.03, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7;47 am, Sunset 5:11 pm.

Partly cloudy overnight with a low in the lower 30s. SW winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 20 mph.

Today will be a winner and so will tomorrow. Sunday could bring us some rain, but the temperature will still be comfortable. At least in the 40s. Could see yet another 50-degree day down the road before it starts to tumble, as it most certainly will. An astonishingly comfortable Thanksgiving Day was ours considering what we recently went through. Much appreciated by everyone who had any traveling to do.

Thursday, Nov. 24, 2022-SW Michigan-Some Thanksgiving Day Sunshine

Thursday, Nov. 24, 2022-SW Michigan-Some Thanksgiving Day Sunshine

Currently 44 with an average wind from the SE of 3 mph. Feels like 44 degrees. Dew Point 34, Humidity 69%, Barometer 30.06, Visibility 10 mph, Sunrise 7:45 am, Sunset 5:11 pm.

Partly cloudy with a 50% chance of afternoon rain showers. High in the lower 50s. SE winds 5-10 mph with gusts to 25.

Cloudy with a 50% chance of overnight rain showers. Low in the upper 30s. SW winds 5=10 mph becoming NW with gusts to 25.

Well, on this Thanksgiving Day I am thankful that this day isn’t of the cold, snowy, wintry sort. In fact, this entire coming week will avoid that scenario. Some sunshine, lots of clouds, some rain – but all in the 40-degree range. Not until about a week from today are the numbers set to drop into the 30s. It will happen, but we at least have this week ahead of us to enjoy some fairly comfortable numbers.

In the meantime, I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving Day.

Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022-SW Michigan-Looking At A 40-Degree Week Ahead

Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022-SW Michigan-Looking At A 40-Degree Week Ahead

Currently 30 with a calm wind from the East. Feels like 18 degrees. Dew Point 27, Humidity 88%, Barometer 30.1, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:43 am, Sunset 5:13 pm.

Mostly sunny this morning becoming partly sunny in the afternoon. High in the upper 30s. Light winds becoming SW 5-10 mph with gusts to around 20 in the afternoon.

Partly cloudy overnight with a low in the mid 20s. Chance of some freezing fog. Light winds.

Going to be cold tonight but look forward to 40-degree days and most nights in the 30s or at least upper 20s. Hard to imagine after this past week, isn’t it? But very welcome for most of us. Looks like the rain has been removed from Thanksgiving Day and inserted into the nighttime hours for the holiday. Fingers crossed that will come about. Weather is looking good going forward. At least for a while.

Monday, Nov. 21, 2022-SW Michigan-Better Week On The Way

Monday, Nov. 21, 2022-SW Michigan-Better Week On The Way

Currently 30 with an average wind from the S of 6 mph. Feels like 26 degrees. Dew Point 24, Humidity 76%, Barometer 29.9, Visibility 10 mi., Sunrise 7:42 am, Sunset 5:13 pm.

Mostly sunny with a high in the upper 30s. SW winds 15-20 becoming W 10-15 mph with gusts to 30.

Partly cloudy with a low in the 15-20. Light winds.

Not today and not tomorrow but the rest of the week our temperatures will be in the 40s. After what we just went through, we sort of deserve something a bit more comfortable, don’t we?  Might get some precipitation on Thanksgiving Day but if we do it will be rain and not snow. We can cope with that. We may get more snow this winter than we have in the past handful of winters, but keep in mind, this last system was due to very cold air coming down from the north over the relatively warm water of the Great Lakes. The lakes will cool down and hopefully we won’t be getting any blasts of really cold air taking aim at us for a while. More than likely the snow we get over the next few months will be just that – snow – and although Lake Effect enters our picture off and on, this last mess was both early, excessive, and unusual.  So, bottom line, this season’s snowfall may end up a lot, maybe not. All we can do is keep bundled up, our shovels at the ready, wait it out and see what develops.  As usual.

Sunday, Nov. 20, 2022-SW Michigan-A Bit Of Sunshine

Sunday, Nov. 20, 2022-SW Michigan-A Bit Of Sunshine

Currently 24 with an average wind from the SSW of 5 mph. Feels like 15 degrees. Dew Point 18, Humidity 79%, Barometer 30.18, Visibility 9 mi., Sunrise 7:40 am, Sunset 5:14 pm.

Mostly cloudy with a 30% chance of snow showers. High in the upper 20s. W winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 25.

Partly cloudy with a low in the 20s. SW winds 10=15 mph with gusts to 30.

Finally, the snow has stopped. We may get a bit of a snow shower today, but the next 2 or 3 days we should have some partly sunny skies. Thanksgiving Day may bring us some rain. And there’s a fair chance of some frozen mix for a few days thereafter, but for the most part, we seem to be past our ugly early winter stuff. Goodness knows we got plenty. I measured about 17″ in my little backyard. I know, nothing like what they have to deal with on the other side of Lake Erie, but enough to make us sit up and take notice.
